Chapter 8

Everyone was at the lunch table except Nisha and rahul. Nisha was still at hospital with Avanti as Sonali asked her to stay there and keep sabarwals posted with updates. Rahul was in his room still resting. Maanvi and Chotu were serving food around.

Sonali~ "Chotu, ja jakar rahul ko lunch karne ke liye bula kar le ao."

Chotu~ "Ji madam." and he goes to get rahul, and finds him sleeping. Chotu comes back and conveys that rahul said he is not hungry and everyone can continue without him.

Maanvi was serving food to dadi ji.

Dadi~ "Are maanvi puttar, aaj to rahul ka favourite khana banaya hai. Pata hai Sonali, peechle kuch dino se iske chehre ki rangat hi badal gayi thi. Ab jab rahul ghar aa gaya hai to usko chod ke hum sabke saath lag gayi phir se. Ja puttar, rahul ka khana tu kamre me hi de kar aaja."

Maanvi couldn't say no to dadi ji hence she prepared a tray with all the delicacies and took it to their room. When she reached her room, she paused outside the door thinking about what transpired just few hours ago. She couldn't face rahul yet.

"Maybe I will just leave food on side table and then come back downstairs..." thinking that to herself she quietly entered the room. Rahul seemed fast asleep as she approached him. Slowly resting the tray on the side table, maanvi glanced at the sleeping rahul. The moment they kissed earlier floated through her mind making her feel shy.

She turned around to leave and took a step then suddenly her hand was caught by rahul. He was awake all along and pretending to be asleep. He wanted to be alone with maanvi and try to find out what did she felt earlier. He made her turn around and face him.

Rahul~ "Mujhe avoid kar rahi ho maanvi?"

She had no answer as she wasn't sure what to say. She didn't want to avoid him but she knew when she will be with him, he would want to talk about what happened earlier. She wasn't ready to talk about the kiss. She kept looking at the floor. As rahul took a step closer, her cheeks turned red.

Rahul~ "Meri taraf dekho maanvi..." as he places his hand under her chin and gently turned her face up to look into his eyes. He continued "mujh se nazare chura rahi ho?..."

"Nahi... wo..." maanvi was speechless.

"Wo kya maanvi?..." rahul was persistent.

She broke his grip on her hand and ran off out of the room again. Rahul stared at the door for few seconds before returning back to his bed.

"Itni aasani se to tum apne iss ehsaas ko nahi chupa paogi maanvi." He smiled as he played sponge bath moments and the kiss in his mind from this morning.

An hour later, Kajal came to see Sonali and Raj. They were sitting in Raj's office and having a serious discussion. Kajal informed them that guru ji is not the man they thought him to be. He tried to kill rahul for his own benefits and has been misusing their trust for past 10 years.

At first raj denied everything that Kajal said and even tried to insult her saying that she is jealous of guru ji as he is much more knowledgeable and better than her. But as Kajal started to present proofs of how guru ji was tricking them into being nothing more than just pawns into his master game... Raj and Sonali were shocked and their faces turned pale as Kajal revealed guru ji's cards one by one.

Kajal~ "Sonali, zaroor tumne ya rahul ne peechle janam me kuch acha kiya hoga jo tumhe maanvi jaise bahu aur rahul ko uske jaisi biwi milli. Agar maanvi nahi hoti aaj rahul bhi tumhare paas nahi hota. She is his true savior."

Sonali~ "Maanvi?... Kaise?..." there was curiosity in her tone.

Kajal~ "yaad hai jaane se pehle maine tumse kaha tha ki maanvi ke ander maine strong aura feel kiya tha. Uski kundli dekhne ke baad mujhe pata chala ki maanvi, agar sahi se apne aura ka use kare to, kisi bhi buri Shakti ko purify kar sakti hai. Jab mujhe rahul ke upar buri Shakti ka saaya mehsus kiya tab samajh me aaya ki Bhagwan ne maanvi ko tumhare bete ke liye khud chuna hai."

For the first time, Raj listened to this whole conversation without making any of his poor perceptions about maanvi. But it was still hard for him, he felt like someone has stuck a red hot rod in his throat.

After a long silence that Raj maintained, he said "Par maanvi to Upamanyu ki beti hai. Wo bhala iss ghar ke liye, mere rahul ke liye sahi kaise ho sakti hai?"

Kajal~ "Raj, call it what you like; god's will, fate, destiny... but maanvi is more than what you can ask for your rahul. She is a gift. Don't think it as a bad joke or take this thing so lightly. Maanvi jis kisi ki bhi zindagi me kadam rakhegi, wo success ki nayi definitions bana dega. Uski kundli itni powerful hai!"

Sonali was truly happy hearing this. She knew that what she felt about maanvi, she was right. A mother's heart always knows what is best for their kids.

Raj felt dumbfounded. All this time he wanted to push maanvi out of rahul's life just because she was upamanyu's daughter. Now he has to accept her. It was too much for him to accept that maanvi could save rahul and can help him attain even greater success than he could ever think off. The red hot rod just sunk deeper inside him. He left with irritation and frustration saying I have some important work.

Rahul was waiting for maanvi to come to the room. He knew it in his heart something is different. At first it may have seemed maanvi was mad at him because of all the tiger spirit that was controlling him. He already talked to her and maanvi was normal with him so that's not the case. He has seen in her eyes that she has started to trust him, like him and even cared enough for him that she came looking for him in that dangerous alley.

Rahul picked up his new guitar maanvi gifted him few days ago. He tuned the strings and started to play some notes. As he was humming along with the tune, his mind took off towards the recent events he had with maanvi.

"maanvi alone in the alley... trapped by three drunk bad guys... he could tell exactly what they were thinking as they were heading towards his maanvi... how he stayed in shadows so maanvi don't see him like that because he feared she would be afraid of him... she surprised him when she took a step towards him, she wasn't afraid but there was worry in her eyes and voice..."

Rahul realized that when maanvi was chanting mantras to free the tiger spirit from him, the spirit gave him back all the memories of his time under the influence of that spirit.

Thinking about the dark alley "...maanvi wahan mujhe dhoodte hue aa gayi thi. Uss khud ki zara bhi fikar nahi thi. Apni parwah kiye bina, koi kisi aur ki parwah kab karta hai? Apni zindagi se zyada kisi apne ko zyada importance kab deta hai?..." he asked the right questions.

"...subah ki hi baat lelo... maanvi ki aankho me maine aaj ek alag ehsaas dekha hai. Jaise uski aanke mujhse kuch kehna chahti thi... aur jab hum dono itne pass the... wo kiss..."

These memories must be making more sense to his heart than his head. Thinking about feeling her lips on his... it was like tasting the elixir of life. That's right, maanvi is his life now. Everything of his belonged to one and only maanvi. His life, his heart, his soul... everything existed for only one and only maanvi. But...

"Kaise pata karoon ki maanvi ke dil me mere liye kya feelings hain? Wo khud kuch kehti hai, par jo wo kehti hai, mujhe aisa kyun laga ki uski aankhe aur uski dhadkan kuch aur hi keh rahi thi."

Rahul started to play his notes again. Music allowed him to think better about how to talk to her. He needs to find out, needs to talk to her.

That evening, raj drove his car to one place he never thought he would be heading to; the hospital. Soon he was parking his car in the parking space. "What has world came to..." thinking to himself he got off. His heart pounding loudly in his chest.

He walked through the corridor and stopped outside a room. Through the window in the door he peeked inside...

Shilpa was sitting on a chair reading a magazine to the comatose upamanyu, lying on the bed. Raj didn't had the guts to go inside. He just stood there for longest five minutes. Kajal's words and past conversations he has had with upamanyu and maanvi were ringing loudly in his head.

"lucky to have maanvi as your daughter-in-law... jis ghar me tum bahu ban kar jaogi, bad-kismet hoga wo pariwar... khud kuch nahi kar paye, to bhej diya apni beti ko, mere bete ko phasane ke liye... tum jaise chote log sirf mujh jaise ameer logo par jhute ilzaam laga kar, muft publicity batorte ho... agar tujh me thodi bhi kabiliyat hoti, to ek competition haar ne ke baad, muh chupa kar nahi ghum rahe hote..."

All those words kept playing over and over.

Raj felt he would suffocate feeling like this. Without any word, he just left from outside of the hospital room and went back in his car. Those words were louder and louder with every passing minute.

"Soch soch kar mera sir phat jayega... Yeh sab Sonali ki uss friend ki baatoon ki wajah se. Dimag kharab kar diya hai mera. Ghar jaa kar do peg lunga, sab theek ho jayega."

Thinking that he drove away. Soon he reached home, went to the bar, and helped himself to a drink.

Sonali~ "Aa gaye raj. Kahan gaye the? Phone bhi bhool gaye the."

Raj reached for his pocket and realizes that she is right, "Jaldi me bhool gaya tha. Kyun? Koi call aaya tha?"

Sonali~ "Haan. ACP ka phone tha. Rahul ke case ke baare mein baat karna chate the. Maine keh diya ki aap jaldi mein kaam se bahar gaye hain aur phone bhool gaye hain. Aayenge to call back karenge."

Raj took phone from Sonali then thought for a moment before saying "Nahi call back nahi karoonga. Main aisa karta hoon, kal subah sabse pehle police station mein hi mil kar aata hoon. Rahul ke case ke baare me to bhool hi gaya tha. Ab inspector ke sawaal ke jawaab ke liye kuch to sochna padega. You don't worry, I will handle it. Tum jaa ke so jao."

Sonali wanted to say something but decides not to. She could tell that earlier conversation already has raj in riot with himself. So she nodded and went to bed leaving raj to make peace with his thoughts by himself for tonight.

Today must have been the longest day for maanvi. It has been proving to be the most confusing day for her. She couldn't make out her feelings when she is around rahul and he was being persistently annoying bringing them up everytime she was in front of him.

Here she was again, standing at the door of her room. She could hear rahul playing something on his guitar. Last time she was this anxious was when she had the dream in which rahul kissed her on her cheek. She slowly entered the room, and rahul continued with his tune.

She paused there for a moment before she headed to her wardrobe, grabbed her night dress, and went to bathroom to change. She came out and rahul still hasn't moved an inch from his place, still working on the tune. She went to the dressing table and sat down. She took off her jewelry one by one, stealing a look at rahul trying to figure out what he has planned next.

But rahul maintained his ruse very well. Afterall he is a rockstar and his dad and producers expected him to play and pretend for the sake of his fans for half of his life. As maanvi brushed her hairs, she could tell that this calm was a sign of something coming her way. But she remained clueless to what plans did rahul had for her.

took me time to pen down how I wanted them to come to this point

came slow but I think I like it better than my last attempt at this chapter.

didn't feel rushed story at the least

HINT HINT>> this is going forward with concert track

on side track I m working to close the tiger track and neeru murder investigation

with that part turning out good... I have something even better planned up next
