Chapter 2

Rahul is on his way to an important meeting with some sponsors about the concert. He is texting some details about concert to twinkle to make sure they are double checked. He has some special plans for concert.

"Would maanvi agree?"

And thinking about maanvi took a different turn for Rahul's thoughts reminding of last night

"Stuck in cold storage... maanvi was freezing... he offered his jacket to her but the temperature dropped further... her worry for me was clear in her eyes and agreeing to stay close so we can stay warm and not freeze to death... the way her arms went around me and nervousness when my hands were around her... small sign of faith that she showed last night as she settled in my arms... trusting my word that I would never do anything that doesn't agree with her... "

Rahul's eyes staring into the abyss as his thoughts wandered further

"The smell of her hairs, soft touch of the skin of her neck... a warm welcome feeling against the freezing cold... a sense of comfort reciprocated from her as well as her breath came deeper and feeling warmer on my neck... firmly holding each other as a promise to keep safe... she was like warmth of sun in the chilly winters... gentle breeze that can lift all doubts from the heart... all felt like a dream... beautiful dream that was in my arms... my maanvi..."

Driver Ravi points out heavy traffic and that the ride might take longer than expected. Rahul mindlessly replies with an "hmmm" as he was still replaying the memories in his mind from last night.

"Maanvi was soon asleep... one hand still around me and other on my heart... I never believed a person can truly find heaven but there it was, an angel sleeping in my arms... slowly moved my hand to caress her hairs from her face, carefully not to wake her... moving slowly to kiss on her forehead... if only she could read my feelings for her... still we have come a long way... just few weeks ago she couldn't even stand having me around her... now here she is, comfortably asleep in my arms..."

Rahul then recalls how they came to be from cold storage to be back at home.

"The guard who came with me had to leave and the other guard who took over the shift couldn't find me. It was near morning when he realized that I was locked inside the cold storage. The guard came down and opened the door... he was scared... I saw maanvi still fast asleep and didn't want to wake her up... so I gently carried her with me to the car... we were soon at home... I carried her to our room, settled her down on the bed... her arms firmly around me still... I tucked her carefully in warm sheets... I want her to be part of my next concert... till then it was already morning... mindlessly took a shower... and decided to coordinate my ideas through twinkle..."

Ravi~ "sir, hum pahauch gaye hain."

Ravi's words gave a pause to Rahul's trail of thoughts for a moment. He looked around and realized that he has arrived on his destination. Time for stage two of what he has planned for special performance in his concert. The sponsors were eager to hear about the special performance rahul wanted to add to the original plans. Meeting with the sponsors went nicely and it was either luck or the charm of rockstar rahul sabarwal that they agreed to fully support the idea.

There was a different spirit in Rahul's style today. With the things taken care for today, now he can return home to maanvi. "How did she spent her day today?... did she wondered how she got from cold storage to home?... does she remember that it has been almost a month since they were married?..."

Rahul~ "Ravi, I wish to stop by at two places before we finally head back home."

Ravi~ "sure sir."

Meanwhile, at the guru ji's ashram;

Guru ji was in deep study of his books and charts. One of his apprentices stopped by trying to understand what has guru ji in such concentration that he didn't even notice someone approaching.

Boy1~ "guru ji, Mr. Raj sabarwal is here to see you. He says that you requested him to come at such short notice."

Guru ji~ "haan, maine bulaya hai. Unhe idhar le aao aur phir dhyan rahe, hume koi bhi uss samay pareshaan na kare."

On guru ji's command, the boy escorted raj to his hut and then took his leave. Raj trying to make out what has had guru ji in concerns that he requested him to come so early in the morning.

"After a lot of thinking and referring to my books and notes, there seems to be ways to break the curse. But when I study these charts..." guru ji's words lost into silence again.

Raj~ "But...? But what guru ji? What do these charts say?"

Guru ji reveals about new findings from his study of charts, according to them, the planetary alignments and the nakshatra shows that this year the spirits also possess additional powers along with their normal ones. The tiger spirit they are trying to fight has already sourced powers during past 10 years that cannot be easily countered. And if this study of these charts is correct, then there is a good chance that they may not be able to save rahul.

Raj~ "nahi guru ji... aisa mat kahiye. Ye nahi ho sakta. Mera rahul... mera rahul guru ji..." raj eyes start to swell with tears.

Guru ji~ "hum sirf koshish hi kar sakte hai. Ho sakta hai ki iss koshish se hume kuch samay aur mil jaye jise hum rahul ko is shrap se bachane ke doosre upaay doodh sake. Jis raftaar se rahul me badlav aa rahe hain, unhe hum rok na sake par unki gati yadi hum kar sake to us se ek umeed ki ja sakti hai rahul ko bachane ke liye. Par uske liye tumhe kuch karna hoga jo shayad tumhe acha na lage."

Raj~ "aap jo kahenge guru ji main wo karne ke liye taiyaar hoon, bas mere bete ko bacha lijiye guru ji. Mere bete ko bacha lijiye..."

Guru ji shares what he wants to do next in an attempt to try to save, or at least slow down the changes that are turning rahul into a tiger bit by bit. To which raj face turns from tearful to stern.

Outside the gift gallery, rahul comes out with a smile. He may have found a perfect surprise for maanvi on their one month wedding anniversary. He goes to parking lot to his car. Somewhere along the way Ravi had to leave due to some family crisis to which rahul offered him some money and support.

Rahul takes the wheel and turns his car to head home. The feelings from last night were still lingering with him. "Should he tell maanvi how he feels? Or should he try to find out what she feels in her heart about him and their relation? Maybe he can ask dadi's advice..."

Immersed in his thoughts, rahul drives off to return home.

Maanvi turns around to see the sun starting to rise outside of her window. She has been restless and worried whole night. Rahul said he will return home by evening but since the time maanvi tried to reach him, there has been no phone call, no news, no sign of rahul. Whole night maanvi has spent switching sides or pacing down in her room... waiting for rahul to come home.

"Aise to mein pagal ho jaungi. Pata nahi kyun par itni baichaini kyun ho rahi hai mujhe. Kya rahul, kabhi to itni fikar karte ho, aur kabhi to ek phone bhi nahi kar sakte tum ki kaam me phas gaye ho isliye ghar nahi aa sakte?... Aane do phir batati hoon. Mujhe itna pareshaan karte ho tum rahul."

Saying that to herself, maanvi goes downstairs to the hall. Sun beam shining on the dcor, reminds of the type of homes you only see in movies. She could hear servants preparing for breakfast in the kitchen. Soon the quite will be engulfed by the regular hustle to get the day going on. Before maanvi could take another step, a knock on door draws her attention.

"Rahul..." maanvi sudden excitement thinking rahul has returned made her forget that just few minutes ago she was upset that he was missing without informing. Maanvi rushed to the door to welcome rahul. When she opens the door, maanvi is upset and confused at the same time.

"Inspector sahab, aap?..." maanvi had a questioning expression on her face.

"Ji Mrs. Sabarwal. Kya main andar aa sakta hoon? Kuch kaam tha isliye aana pada" said ACP.

Maanvi lead him inside. "Kya baat hai inspector jiske liye aapko itni subah subah aana pada..?" before maanvi could finish her sentence raj interrupted "Kya baat hain inspector. Mere ghar ko kya tumne jogging track samajh rakha hai kya jo jab marji aati hai chale aate ho? Subah subah aur koi nahi milla pareshan karne ke liye?"

ACP~ "dekhiye, baat hi aisi hai nahi to mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi hai aapko baar baar pareshan karne ka. Waise yeh bataiye, kya aapko malum hai ki rahul iss waqt kahan hain?"

Raj~ "Kyun? Phir koi bekar ka ilzaam mere bete par lagane ke liye aaye honge aap. Boliye, bol lijiye."

ACP~ "Kal sham ko mera ek constable rahul ko follow kar raha tha. Aaj wo hospital me hai..."

Raj interrupting him~ "Mujhe maloom tha. Ab aap ye ilzaam lagana chahte hai ki aap ke constable par hamla mere bete ne kiya. Aur koi to mila nahi phasane ke liye to mere bete ke peeche hath do kar pad gaye hai aap. Main abhi commissioner ko bol kar tumhe naukri se nikal wata hoon."

ACP~ "Jaroor lagaiye. Par usse pehle ye jaan lijiye ki mujhe commissioner sahab ne hi bheja hai. Abhi subah main apne constable ka bayaan le kar aa raha hoon. Us par attack aapke bete ne nahi, balki 6 gundoon ne kiya tha."

Sonali~ "Gunde?..."

ACP~ "Ji. Wo gunde jinko mere constable ne aapke bete ko, yani rahul ko, kidnap karte hue dekha tha."

Everyone in the room is shocked to hear this.

ACP~ "Aur jab constable ne rahul ko bachane ki koshish ki to gundoon ne us par bhi humla kar diya. Mere constable ke bayan se humare paas un gundoon ki gaadi ka number aur gundoon ka huliya hai. Commissioner sahab ne mujhe is case ko khas dhyan se solve karne ke liye kaha hai. Hum media ko is incident se door rakh rahe hai kyunki ho sakta hai ki media ki wajah se rahul ki jaan aur khatare mein pad jaye. Hum chahenge ki aap sab log iss case me hume pura support de taki rahul ko jald se jald ghar surakshit wapas la sake." ... he continues further... "iss incident se ek aur sawal samne aata hai. Ho sakta hai ki jin murders mein hum rahul ka involvement suspect kar rahe the, wo rahul ne nahi kiye. Par koi rahul ko phasane ki poori koshish kar raha hai. Ab jab wo plan success nahi hua to un logon ne rahul ka kidnap kar wa liya."

Raj little concerned. Sonali, maanvi, dadi and dada ji worried for rahul. Nisha and shaleen glances at each other at that point, cause they know shaleen sent a letter to ACP trying to frame rahul for neeru's murder.

ACP~ "Kya aapko kisi par shak hai jo itni planning se rahul ko phasane ki koshish kar sakta hai?"

Raj~ "Dekhiye inspector sahab, rahul ek popular public figure hai. Zahir si baat hai ki uske dushman bhi hai. Ab iss tarah kisi ka naam lena to mushkil hai. Aap jo kar sakte hai kijiye. Aapki investigation ko humara pura support hai. Mere bete ko jald se jald wapas ghar le aiye."

ACP~ "Humari poori koshish rahe gi ki rahul aap sabke paas jaldi ghar aa jaye. Acha ab main chalta hoon. Mujhe meri team ke saath us constable ki di hui information par investigation aage badani hai. I will keep in touch with you."

ACP chala jaata hai. Maanvi, sonali, dadi ji aur dada ji, sabhi shock mein hain. Nisha and shaleen returns back to their room. Sonali and raj returns to their room.

Dadi ji~ "Puttar, tu theek to hai na? Himmat rakh puttar, sab theek hoga. Rahul ko kuch nahi hoga."

Tears swelling in maanvi's eyes. "Rahul..."
