This iron woman has been giving mind-blowing performances on Jhalak from day one. Everybody expected her to be among the finalists. Her elimination sent shock waves of anger among the judges and the audiences alike. But after seeing so much in life, Sudha Chandran knows how to come out a winner. Her determination and composure is a lesson for everyone.
Everybody is shocked with the results. How do you feel?
I have always had this premonition, which has worked in my favour. This morning when I woke up, I knew that this Saturday was not going to be a good Saturday. Even my make-up man repeatedly asked me: 'Why are you saying this over and over again?' I said, 'Pata naheen, aaj dil naheen maan raha.' My premonitions are usually correct.
Will you continue with this form of dance?
At this point I really don't know what I'll continue doing. But yes, I would love to do something associated with dance. I have this academy of dance and the 150 things that I've learnt here, I'll put to use in my academy. I want my students to be enriched with different forms.
Would you like to be associated with Uma?
I would love to be associated with Uma if he wants to be associated with me (laughs). As it is, I am an excess burden on him; he's been carrying this burden for a little too long. We have a good rapport; he is almost like a part of my family. It's not just our connection with the stage; he and his wife Kirti are alone here and I told him he could come to my place anytime. My doors are always open for him.
Everybody thinks this elimination was unfair. What do you think?
Well, I am so happy people think that this is unfair. It makes me a winner. See, normally when any contestant leaves they may feel she was not up to the mark. But today, when I saw the shocked expressions on the judges' faces, that itself made me a winner. The standing ovation I got is the biggest award that I am taking back.
Are you angry with the janta's verdict?
No, I think I've got over all this. I have got over anger, frustration and failures in my life. And after getting rid of all those emotions, I am a more balanced person today.
Any message for the people who love you?
I think they all love me. But it was really shocking for me when I heard someone say that this was not an age to dance. Dance has no age. I believe that you can dance till you die. This belief that is in the audience has to change.
