I've said this before - but Katrina experimenting is working against her. People don't want to see her in films like Phantom or Fitoor.
She's delivered solo hits without the khans but those films are for the commercial audience Mere brother I dulhan, APKGK , etc.
If she wore revealing clothes in Afghan Jalebi and if she danced the film would've been a hit I guarantee you.
Katrina's biggest usp are her looks and seductive dances. She needs to capitalize on that otherwise no one wants to see her in a Fitoor or Phantom
I love how you (& resident-evil) are so blunt & honest with your respective posts even at the risk of incurring the wrath of judgmental forum members ( including me of course 😆) ..
Most people here know the truth but they are either scared or ashamed to admit it or they are desperately clinging on to the last shred of hope by giving it "the benifit of doubt" .. sure , even if Salman had done such a film , the result would have been "similar" ..
Moreover , if Katrina's USP is dancing in scantily clad clothes doesn't it mean she has a very limited shelf life in Bollywood ? .. Kat probably realized this & wanted to try out something different before her time is up , it's another thing that it didn't work in favor since she doesn't have the talent to pull it off ..
Next possible argument will be to blame the cheap mindset of Indian audience for always wanting to see young actresses in scantily clad clothes & then throwing them out as soon as they turn 35 .. ok , I can't say that it is an invalid argument , there is some truth there .. but I would like to point out that it is not just an "Indian" phenomenon .. even in the west , particular genres ( superhero , action , fantasy , films based on successful book series ) make tons of money & much much higher than other artsy type of films .. only thing is , in the west due to a bigger market , even the artsy films make big bucks when compared to relatively smaller market of bolly films .. moreover , the responsibility also lies with the actreses here to not just opt for flowerpot roles in Khan films coz the damage they do is cumulative ( which is probably why Kat opted for doing something different but she just doesn't have the talent to go with it ) .. on the bright side , it is only because of Bollywood , Katrina is where she is today , no other industry would have tolerated an "actress" like Katrina .. also , let's not forget this is the same industry which churned out a hit like English Vinglish which had a senior actress in a non-flowerpot role in a non-Khan film, which makes me think - a good product & talent is always appreciated .. if actresses here keep on taking the easy way out by being a Khan flowerpot , we will never get a female Khan ( a sexist terminology in itself ) after Sridevi .. ones like Kangana are having a hard time handling their success which makes her future uncertain , Deepika is doing extremely well so far but let's see.. and IMO even Sridevi has the responsibility of keeping the tag of India's Meryl Streep ( a racist terminology if you ask me 😆 ) given how Madhuri-Juhi-Karishma-Manisha are all completely washed out stars now .. Aish is also doing whatever she can but like Katrina she too doesn't have the talent to pull it off , her entire fame is based on her godly looks & she is past her prime now ( oops sorry again 😆 ) , looks won't help her anymore unless & until she does something substantial which is unlikely but let's see .. change won't happen overnight , it's a step by step process but for that steps need to be taken ..
