With her in his arms, he glanced down at her, surprised by her sudden question. Another child? He hadn't even been thinking about that, then how had she come to think about it so soon?
"I don't know," he responded, "I haven't thought about it much... but do you think it's time for another child? We just got back together. Maybe it's better for us to sort our relationship first then have one."
Sanyukta looked up at him, her eyes filling with tears at his answer. She didn't even blame him... they hadn't exactly been planning to have another child when she got pregnant, and he was right. They had just began to mend their relationship. Instead of spending time with each other, it wasn't logical to think of bringing another child into the world.
Still, it happened. She was pregnant, and now it was irreversible. They both had to live with this. How could she tell him this though when he clearly didn't want to have one right now? She didn't want to be the bearer of bad news, even though for her, it was beautiful news.
"You really don't want to have another child?" she asked him softly, inwardly hoping he would change his response. "Don't you think it would be nice for Somya to have a sibling?"
Randhir seemed to think about it for a moment before responding.
"Well, yes of course. I think we should... but it's a bit soon. Even Somya happened unexpectedly when we weren't ready to have a child, and it hurt our relationship," he explained.
She closed her eyes and leaned further into him, unable to control the tears that were threatening to fall.
"I think our relationship is stronger now," she commented, her tears finally spilling out of her eyes onto his chest. "Don't you - don't you think so?"
"Sanyukta, you're crying?" he asked her softly, and she let go of him before sitting up on the bed, wiping away her own tears. "Are you okay?"
He sat up and held her shoulders lovingly.
"No," she admitted. "I'm not okay."
"Why?" he asked her softly. "Why are you so emotional today?"
"I... I want lemons," she hiccuped, ignoring his question. "Randhir cut a lemon in half and bring the pieces to me!"
He looked at her with shock.
"What?" he exclaimed. "Why?"
"I just want to eat lemons!" she urged. "Please Randhir!"
He looked at her like she had gone crazy.
"But - but just lemons?" he inquired. "It'll be so sour. I can bring it in water for you!"
"No!" she refused. "I want to directly eat the lemons... I want it to be very sour!"
"You've gone mad," he commented.
"Why're you calling me mad?" she asked, her eyes filling with tears again. "Fine! I'll get the lemons myself!"
"Okay, okay sit down. I'll bring them for you," he told her, and then stood up, shaking his head, as he put on his sweatpants and left the room to get his wife the lemons she had asked for.
She watched him as he went, a loving smile on her face. She licked her lips as she eyed his sweaty back. Perhaps she could initiate a round two when he came back.
Then her thoughts went back to her pregnancy. She touched her still flat stomach softly. Surely he couldn't be too upset if he heard the pregnancy news?
As he went downstairs to the kitchen, he started to get worried. She was behaving very strangely today, but he just couldn't place his finger on what exactly the problem was.
158
Randhir didn't understand what was happening to Sanyukta. Maybe she was about to get her period so she was behaving this way, but her PMS symptoms were never this extreme before. Perhaps it was because of all the stress she had over the last couple of weeks. He got the lemon from the fridge and cut it in half, before putting the two pieces in a bowl and taking it upstairs for his wife.
As soon as he entered the room, she smiled lovingly at him and he joined her on the bed, handing her the bowl. She looked down at the pieces of lemon and licked her lips, before picking up one piece and sucking on it.
"Mmm," she let out as she sucked on the lemon, and Randhir smiled, as he watched the juice drop down to her chin. "Want to try some?"
She held the lemon piece out for him, but he leaned closer to her instead, sucking the drops of lemon juice from her chin, catching her by surprise. His hand cupped her cheek gently, as his lips moved against her skin to her soft lips.
The sourness of her lips was strangely sweet, and he couldn't help but flick his tongue out, trying to taste as much of it as possible.
"It tastes very good," he murmured against her lips, causing her to tremble.
"Randhir," she moaned against his lips and put the bowl of lemons down on the bed, on the other side of her, before wrapping her arms around him, pressing her fingers into his bare back.
He pulled her onto his lap and kissed his way down to her neck, with her rolling her head back so he could have easier access. Her fingers were buried inside his hair.
"I love you," he whispered against her neck, and she was turned on by his warm breath which lingered on her skin.
Then all of a sudden, she felt a reaction happen inside her, and she pushed him away slightly. He looked up at her, concerned, and she pressed her hand to her mouth, about to throw up. The lemon, as tasty and satisfying as it was, didn't seem to have a good enough reaction with her body right now.
"I - I need to - I need to throw up!" she exclaimed, gasping for air.
She practically jumped off the bed and ran off to the bathroom, leaving Randhir there stunned.
All of a sudden, a thought struck him... all of these moodswings, the cravings, the insecurities about her body, and now the sudden sickness, and on top of that her random question about having another child - could it be that she was pregnant?
His eyes widened at the possibility.
Could it really be true?
159
Randhir followed Sanyukta into the bathroom, as she threw up into the toilet, her knees on the ground. He gathered all of her hair and held it back as she continued to puke. She waited for a few moments, until finally she closed her eyes and leaned back against Randhir's legs.
"I feel so sick," she murmured. "I guess the lemons weren't a good idea."
Then she stood up and Randhir flushed the toilet as Sanyukta started to wash her hands and face. Randhir joined her at the sink and washed his hands with the cool water, before using his thumb to get some of the vomit off the corner of her lips.
"Thanks," she said and he washed his hands again before turning off the tap.
Randhir dried his hands on a towel and she rested her head on his shoulder, closing her eyes.
He wrapped his arms around her and held her close to him.
"Are you okay?" he asked her softly.
"Yes, let's lie down," she murmured and he nodded.
Taking her hand, he lead her back to their bed and helped her lie down. He got in bed next to her and kissed her forehead.
"Thank you," she murmured, placing her hand on her belly.
Randhir watched suspiciously as she did that, she caressed it softly, almost as if she wasn't doing it to just her belly, but to something inside.
"Sanyukta, is there something you want to tell me?" he asked her.
"What do you mean?" she replied, closing her eyes.
"Are you - are you -" he started, gulping, as he thought of how to ask. "Are you pregnant?"
She sat up on the bed with shock and looked at him, surprised that he had actually figured it out.
"What did you say?" she asked.
"Are you pregnant?" he repeated.
"Y - yes," she told him, and then blushed, causing a small smile to form on his lips.
"Really?" he asked her.
"Yes," she nodded, and glanced down. "I know you didn't want to have a child so soon but -"
"Shh, this is the best news you could give me," he told her interrupting her, and then cupped her cheeks and pulled her towards him enough so he could kiss her deeply.
"Randhir, I just vomited!" she complained against his mouth.
"I don't care!" he responded, and deepened the kiss even further.
He was so happy... far more happy than his words were able to express. Yes, it was true that logically he wasn't ready to have another child, but sometimes the best surprises in life were given without logic, without reason, and the happiest moments in life were the ones that made no sense at all.
160
As he kissed her, she could feel the amount of happiness he felt. Sanyukta smiled against his lips, happy that her Randhir was happy. She was happy that finally, they were starting a family together, again.
"I love you, I love you, I love you," he muttered against her lips. "I love you so much!"
"I love you too," she replied, but he had already slid his tongue inside her mouth, not letting her speak any further.
She almost laughed - he was amazing. Her amazing husband, that she hadn't lost an ounce of love for.
"Can I tell you something?" he then asked, removing his lips from hers.
"Yes?" she asked breathlessly.
"I want you to stay with me forever. Will you?" he asked, his eyes sparkling.
"What kind of question is that?" she asked, blushing. "Of course, if it's in my control, I'll stay with you forever and ever."
"It's in our love's control," he murmured, kissing her temple softly. "If we can love each other unconditionally, then there's no way we would be apart... the universe can end, but we will be together."
Sanyukta smiled and snuggled into him, as she closed her eyes.
"If our love is that strong, then of course, time and space is nothing compared to it... if that's the case, then I guess you wouldn't even have the question," she murmured.
He rubbed her back soothingly and she started to take deep breaths, about to fall asleep.
"I want you to know, that with all my soul, I will love you," he said.
"If that's the case, you wouldn't need to say it out loud," she responded. "Sleep Randhir... it's getting late, and baby is tired."
"Oh yeah?" he asked and smiled, kissing the top of her head. "Alright then... by the way, how do you think Somya will feel once you tell her?"
"I don't know. Let's see tomorrow," she whispered and then smiled widely. "I love you."
"I love you too," he replied, closing his eyes.
As they held each other and slept, a newfound hope was born... a surreal reality, in which they flew away from themselves, towards each other. The destination of love was slowly starting to be realized, erasing all the insecurities that previously existed.
161
The next morning, Randhir, Sanyukta and Somya were having breakfast together. Randhir and Sanyukta kept on looking at each other, conversing with their eyes as to when the right time was to tell Somya she would be getting a sibling.
Somya noticed this exchange between her parents and looked at them with confusion.
"What are you hiding from me?" she asked.
"Hiding? Nothing!" Randhir said quickly.
Sanyukta sighed loudly, and Somya looked at her father suspiciously.
"What's going on?" Somya asked.
"Somya," Sanyukta interrupted. "You... you..."
"No Sanyukta!" Randhir interrupted.
"What?" Sanyukta asked, looking at him with irritation. "Let me tell her!"
"She'll feel upset," Randhir answered.
"What's happening?" Somya complained, stabbing a fork into her pancake with annoyance. "I want to know!"
"Why would she be upset Randhir? She'll be happy!" Sanyukta argued.
"But -" Randhir started.
"Shhh!" Sanyukta interrupted. "Somya, you're going to be an older sister."
Somya's eyes widened as soon as Sanyukta told her that.
"What?" Somya asked, sounding completely surprised.
"You're going to have a younger brother or sister," Sanyukta answered with a small smile.
Then she got up from her seat and walked over to Somya.
"How?" Somya asked, confused.
Sanyukta took her daughter's hand and brought it to her belly.
"Your brother or sister will grow here," she told her softly.
"Wow!" Somya answered, sounding shocked. "So I will have someone to play with?"
"Yes, someone to play with and take care of," Sanyukta answered, smiling.
Randhir watched as Sanyukta told Somya with a smile on his face. He had been worried that Somya would get insecure upon hearing this news, having gotten all the attention to herself all this time. He figured that the insecurities would come later, when Sanyukta and him had to openly give more attention to her younger sibling. Right now, Somya still had their undivided attention, so she had no reason to feel insecure.
"I want a sister so I can dress her up!" Somya declared, and Sanyukta and Randhir exchanged a smile.
"We know you'll love the baby very much, whether your sibling will be a sister or a brother," Sanyukta said, and then hugged her daughter tightly. "Now finish eating your food."
Somya nodded and pulled herself away from her mother before turning to her food and stuffing the pancakes in her mouth.
"Where will the new baby sleep?" she asked.
"With your father and I in the beginning," Sanyukta answered, sitting on her seat.
"What?" Randhir asked, surprised. "Why?"
Sanyukta glared at Randhir and he pressed his lips together.
"Can't the baby sleep with me?" Somya asked curiously.
"When the baby learns to sleep at night, then the baby can sleep with you," Sanyukta told her with a smile. "But it might not be for a few years."
"Years?" Randhir asked, his eyes wide. "We won't be alone in the room for years?"
"Randhir!" Sanyukta scolded, and then smiled softly, finding it incredibly cute.
It seemed like more than Somya, Randhir was the one who would be the most insecure over this new addition.
Sanyukta giggled to herself at the thought.
"Why're you laughing?" he asked her suspiciously.
"For no reason... you finish eating," she told him, and put a piece of pancake in her own mouth, a smile on her face.
162
After they had breakfast, Randhir pulled Sanyukta into their room and locked the door before wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her to him hard, capturing her lips with his in a passionate kiss.
Surprised, she kissed him back with full force, as his tongue slipped inside her mouth, tasting her hungrily. Her arms wrapped around his neck as her tongue fought with his for control.
Finally, he broke the kiss and pressed his forehead on hers, panting for air.
"What's gotten into you?" she asked him, with a smile.
"I need to spend as much time with you as possible," he answered, "I won't have your attention at all when the baby comes."
Sanyukta giggled and pecked his lips lightly.
"You are such a baby Randhir," she laughed, "I expected insecurity from Somya, but not from you!"
"What? I'm not insecure!" he denied.
"Riiight," she said, rolling her eyes.
"I just want to spend time with you!" he argued.
"Someone's in denial," she pointed out, and then buried her face in the crook of his neck, as she stood on her tiptoes.
He hugged her tightly and kissed her ear.
"Hey," she murmured.
"What?" he asked her.
"Don't turn me on," she warned. "You have to drop Somya to school... and you'll leave me here miserable."
"Come to work with me," he told her.
"What? Why?" she asked, breaking the hug and looking up at him, bewildered.
"I'll lock my cabin and we can spend time there," he said with a smirk.
"Randhir!" she scolded, glaring at him. "Do you go to office to work or to do other stuff?"
"I'll come back home after dropping Somya then - hey, let's just send her with the driver," he told her. "One day with the driver won't -"
"Randhir!" Sanyukta scolded again. "Go and drop her!"
He sighed and let go of her.
"Fine!" he said. "But watch, when I come back, I'm not letting you spend even a single moment away from me."
"Go to work," she said, trying to sound annoyed.
"I will darling. But I'll come home early to meet you," he told her, then smiled and kissed her cheek. "I love you."
"I love you too," she replied and hugged him again. "Come, let's go!"
Then she took his hand and lead him downstairs where Somya was already waiting, ready to go to school.
"Somya, let's go," Randhir said.
"Okay," Somya said excitedly. "See you after school Mommy!"
"Bye Somya, be a good girl... and you Randhir, be a good boy," she warned.
"I'll be a good boy," he said and winked at Sanyukta causing her to blush.
After the two of them disappeared, Sanyukta smiled... she had two babies in the house already, and a third one was coming their way. How was she going to manage three babies?
163
Months passed before they knew it, and Sanyukta was going to the doctor for regular checkups. During the seventh month of her pregnancy, Sanyukta was sitting on her bed grumbling.
"Randhir!" she grumbled irritably.
"What?" he replied, busy working on his laptop.
He was working more from home these days so he could take proper care of her.
"My legs are so hairy!" she complained.
"Then shave them," he answered, not even turning around to look at her.
"I can't even reach my legs! My belly is too big!" she complained, and then folded her arms across her chest unhappily. "Shave them for me!"
Randhir closed his laptop and turned around to face her, watching his wife's grumpy expression.
He walked up to the bed and sat down next to her before he placed his hands on her shoulder's and began to massage them, relaxing her muscles.
"Oooh that feels good," she said, feeling herself melt against him.
"You don't need to shave. You look beautiful the way you are," he told her softly.
"I want to wear dresses and don't want to go out with hairy legs!" she whined. "You have to shave them for me... please Randhir!"
He smiled and kissed her temple, as he let go of her shoulders.
"What are you doing?" she asked, and turned around to face him.
Randhir chuckled. His wife looked so beautiful, trying to look angry. In reality, she was glowing.
"Is it you who's angry or is it the baby?" he asked her softly.
"Me!" she told him seriously.
He placed a kiss on her neck and she bit down on her lip, holding back a moan.
"I love you," he muttered against her neck.
"Then shave my legs for me," she told him impatiently.
"Okay, come let's go," he told her, giving in to her demand.
"Pick me up! I don't want to walk," she said to him authoritatively.
"Yes, my queen," he said, and then picked her up in his arms in one swooping movement. "Wow you're heavy!"
"Randhir!" she scolded with a pout.
"I'm kidding," he told her with a smile, and then walked with her to the bathroom.
When he finally put her down, she hugged him.
"This belly is coming in the way of me hugging you too!" she whined, and then her eyes filled with tears. "Randhir!"
He walked around her and hugged her tightly from behind.
"It's not coming in the way now," he whispered into her ear softly. "Hey, forget showering. Let's go to the bed."
"I'm hairy!" she complained, even though she was already trembling with desire for him.
"As if that makes you less desirable," he told her, rolling his eyes.
"Just do your job and shave... if you do a good job, I'll think about it," she answered him with a smirk.
He placed his hands over her belly.
"See the baby is kicking too," he whispered. "You need to relax a bit."
"Shave me!" she commanded.
"As you wish my love," he told her, finally giving up, and turned on the shower. "Take off your clothes."
"You don't sound like you desire me at all!" she huffed, and started to remove her clothes.
"You won't let me show you how much I want you. What can I do?" he teased.
"Fine," she replied irritably. "Don't desire me then!"
"Hey, you're sexy -" he started but she gasped at him with horror.
"Are you crazy?" she snapped. "Don't say those words in front of our baby!"
"Yes my love," he responded with a smile as he picked up her razor and shaving cream.
After she finished removing her clothes, she walked into the shower and smiled, feeling the warm water run down her body.
"Tell me if it's too hot," he said to her, as he bent down to apply the shaving cream on her legs.
"It's perfect," she replied, holding her leg out.
As Randhir started to shave her legs for her, he couldn't help but smile. He loved doing these little things for his wife to pamper her. A lot of men may find it strange, but for him, there was nothing strange about his wife.
She was comfortable with him in her natural state, and he was comfortable with her in his, and they were both comfortable with each other... this comfort level and freedom to be who they were was just one of the many aspects of what made their love so strong.
164
"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to youuu!" Sanyukta sang as she brought in a cake for her daughter's seventh birthday. "Happy birthday my dear Somya... Happy Birthday to you!"
Somya woke up and rubbed her eyes with a big smile, excited. She looked at the cake hungrily, then her eyes fell to Sanyukta, her big belly, and behind her was her father.
"Daddy you're up?" she asked, shocked.
"How could I miss wishing my daughter," he said lovingly, then sat on the bed beside her. "Happy Birthday sweetheart."
Randhir kissed Somya's head and Sanyukta placed the cake on the table next to Somya's bed.
"Let's cut your cake darling," she said with a smile.
Somya took the knife and Sanyukta held Somya's hand in place as the two of them cut the cake together. Once they cut a piece, Sanyukta fed Somya lovingly.
"It's so good," Somya gasped. "Mommy did you make this?"
Sanyukta nodded, and Randhir approached her, picking out a piece of cake and feeding it to his daughter.
"Guess what mommy and daddy got you for your birthday?" Sanyukta asked cheerfully.
"What?" Somya asked curiously.
"You'll see! First you get ready to go to school," she pushed.
Somya got up and ran into the bathroom to brush her teeth and shower. Sanyukta sat on Somya's bed and leaned back, her back aching.
"Almost eight months now," she murmured to Randhir, who was busy stuffing his face with the cake. "Stop eating so much!"
Then she smirked as she saw some chocolate on the corner of his lips. Sanyukta leaned towards him and cupped his cheek affectionately. As she was about to lick the chocolate off his lips, her belly came in the way and she groaned.
"I hate this!" she said, tears filling her eyes. "It always comes in the way!"
Randhir smiled and placed his hand on her belly lovingly.
"I love it though," he whispered to her and then slid over beside her, holding his cheek out for her. "Here."
Sanyukta grabbed his shirt and licked the chocolate off his lips.
"Mmm," she whispered. "It tastes better on your lips."
Just then the door to the bathroom opened and Randhir pulled himself away from Sanyukta really quickly.
"Daddy why did you just jump?" Somya asked curiously.
"Me? Jump? No! The cake - the cake tastes so good!" he said, trying to cover up.
Somya looked confused.
"I just forgot my towel," she stated, then picked up her towel and disappeared back into the bathroom.
Sanyukta started to giggle and took his hands, before her expression turned serious.
"Our room now," she ordered.
"What?" he gasped, his eyes wide. "B - but Somya... she has to go to school."
"She will go to school. We'll be done before she finishes showering if you'll just hurry!"
"I don't know what pregnancy has done to you Sanyukta, but I'm loving this," he said, and helped her stand up before he lead her into their bedroom to fulfill her desires.
Sometimes, some things came together to fall apart... then the broken pieces came together again, but fell apart once more, creating more shards. This process kept going on until finally the shards turned to dust and joined together, forever in unison.
165
She examined her eight month pregnant belly in the mirror with her hand on it, and pouted before calling, "Randhir!"
He turned around on his chair and looked at her, concern on his face.
"Is everything okay?" he asked.
"No!" she whined. "Come here!"
He got up immediately and walked up to her.
"What's wrong?" he asked her.
She grabbed his arms and turned him around so he would face the mirror as well. Then she stood next to him and intertwined her hand with his, before resting her head on his shoulder.
"Look!" she said.
"Where?" he asked, looking at her with a confused expression on his face.
"In the mirror! How do we look?" she asked him.
"Good?" he answered, asking it like a question because he really was not sure what she wanted to hear from him.
"No! We look so bad together!" she complained. "I look so fat next to you!"
"Are you crazy?" he asked her, turning around to look at her. "You don't look fat! You just look like a pregnant woman!"
"And a pregnant woman looks fat!" she told him, and her eyes filled with tears. "I don't even look good next to you Randhir!"
Randhir sighed and took her hand in his, leading her to the bed.
"Sanyukta please rest," he said softly, "You look beautiful."
"Do I?" she asked him, looking up hopefully.
"Super beautiful," he said lovingly, and then touched her belly softly. "You look more beautiful than ever right now... did you not see the glow on your face?"
She shook her head.
"Tell me about it," she said with a small smile and then laid down on the bed, on her left side, facing the wall.
Randhir helped her place a pillow under her belly bump so she wouldn't get uncomfortable. Then he got onto his side of the bed and lay down as well, hugging her from behind.
"The glow on your face is so strong that I fall even more in love with you every time I look at you," he murmured into her ear.
She squeezed her eyes shut and blushed.
"Really?" she whispered out loud.
"Really," he answered lovingly, and then kissed her cheek.
"Randhir?" she asked out loud.
"Mhmm," he asked.
"Let's make out," she said.
Randhir smiled, used to his wife's sudden mood changes.
"Sure," he answered, succumbing to her desires once more.
"B - but I can go into labour any moment any moment now," she said to him seriously. "But that's okay! I just want to kiss!"
"You just relax," he said with a light chuckle, and then reached down to lift her night dress.
"I wish I could hug you properly," she groaned. "It's almost impossible to kiss with this belly!"
"Soon," he whispered to her lightly, as he rubbed her leg soothingly.
"Are you crazy?" she argued. "No way! Soon we'll have the baby to take care of... there will be no time for us!"
"We'll make time," he said to her. "We have to!"
"No!" she denied. "Once the baby comes, we won't have time! That's it!"
Randhir sighed and removed his hand from underneath her dress.
"Let's take care of that later," he said, brushing it off, and then started to kiss the side of her neck from behind her, causing her to hold back a moan.
"Randhir," she said, interrupting him from his kissing.
"Hmm?" he asked her, still kissing her exposed skin.
"I know we said we will wait to see if it's a boy or a girl, but let's come up with names!" she said to him.
Randhir sighed and left her neck... he was used to do this too. Sanyukta told him she wanted him, and then love sessions would be left incomplete.
"I don't know," he said aloud.
"Whatever the gender is, the name will start with R," she said decisively.
"Why?" he asked her.
She rolled her eyes.
"S for Sanyukta and Somya is done, so now it's R for Randhir," she answered. "Duh!"
Randhir laughed and nodded.
"Fine," he answered, and closed his eyes as she continued to talk, feeling very sleepy.
Taking care of a pregnant woman was hard work.
166
Sanyukta knew that anytime now she would go into labour. She was hoping that it would be sooner rather than later because being pregnant ached a lot... her back hurt, her feet were always swollen and she couldn't even hug Randhir or Somya properly. She couldn't do many of the things she was able to do before.
She was sitting on the couch, with Somya's head against her bump, listening to the baby, and Randhir beside Somya on his phone.
"I'm so exhausted," Sanyukta said out loud.
"Mommy you should rest," Somya said, still trying to listen to the baby.
"I'm tired of resting," Sanyukta replied, and then breathed sharply. "That's all I've been doing..."
Randhir looked up and reached out to caress Somya's hair.
"Somya your mother just wants to have the baby," Randhir explained with a smile.
"Why are you smiling?" she asked irritably. "You don't know how it feels to carry a baby for nine months."
"Sorry, I'll cry," Randhir replied sarcastically and Somya started to giggle.
Sanyukta smiled too.
"I just love the two of you," she said out loud.
Then all of a sudden, she felt something wet between her legs.
"We love you too," Randhir said with a smile.
"R - Randhir," Sanyukta gasped. "My water broke!"
"Really?" he asked, his eyes wide with shock.
"Yes!" she yelled.
"What does that mean?" Somya asked, sounding confused.
"Your mommy is going to have the baby," Randhir replied. "Come Sanyukta, let's go to the hospital."
Randhir picked up his phone as he walked over to Sanyukta. He dialed Ishika's number.
"Ishika, please come over and take care of Somya. Sanyukta is in labour... the two of us need to go now," he said into the phone before hanging up.
Randhir then helped Sanyukta stand up.
"Somya, we'll be back," Randhir told her. "You don't worry... we'll bring the baby home. Ishika will be here soon."
Somya nodded, her eyes wide.
"Come soon," she replied with excitement. "I want to play with the baby!"
"Somya - eat - eat dinner," Sanyukta ordered, trying to take deep breaths. "Don't watch too much tv... go to bed on time."
"Yes mommy!" Somya responded with a big grin.
"Sanyukta, she'll be fine... our Somya is a mature girl. Come on now... we need to get you to the hospital," Randhir intervened.
She nodded and leaned against Randhir as he walked with her out the door and lead her to his car.
After a few hours of her contractions starting, Sanyukta was holding Randhir's hand tightly in the hospital.
"I can't wait to see our baby," she murmured.
"Me neither," he said with a smile and kissed her forehead.
"Randhir, can you come outside for a moment?" the doctor asked.
"I'll be back," he told Sanyukta lovingly and then followed the doctor out of the room.
"Randhir, there are some complications in the pregnancy," the doctor informed right away. "We need to do a Caesarean section immediately and get the baby out to safety. It's suffocating in the womb right now."
Randhir felt his hands shake as the doctor told him his baby was in danger and his eyes filled with tears.
"Then do it," he said right away. "Please do it!"
"But there is a problem Randhir... it can put Sanyukta's life in danger," the doctor informed.
