Such a moving, subtly emotional, lovely couple of gems, chapters 45 and 46 were! So many lovely little nuggets of---for want of a better word--wisdom. 🤗 🤗

I loved that bit in chap 45, about Lakshya suddenly realizing the depth of Ragini's love for him. And the realization humbles him---which was understandable---and also, which was the brilliantly profound part--makes him feel a twinge of something. Envy? Wistfulness? A bittersweet pang?

That realization was so superb, Bubble---hats off to you for putting that in. That to feel such love was a benediction for the person feeling the emotion. The recipient of such love is fortunate, of course, but it is the person feeling it whose heart is filled with that glorious emotion. That understanding was so very lovely!

Liked the warm banter at the dining table, and Lakshya certainly did raise a few laughs with his typical sibling way of half proudly, half snidely dissing his bro! 😆 And Lakshya actually discusses business in your Fic! Acquisition of a high end printing firm, no less!! 😉

Bubble, I know I've mentioned this before, but I can't resist repeating it: how much I feel the Lakshya in your take is better than the serial one. In the serial, he was preyty much anchorless, purposeless and immature. Whereas in your fic, while he is definitely not as focused and determined as Sanskaar, he has his own strengths too.

And that insight into individual natures was a nice little nugget here. Sanskaar---brilliant, driven, diligent and hard working at the office, likes to slack off and relax once he arrives home. He does like his wife to fuss over him, and give him little snacks and water in hand. 😆 😉

Lakshya, less stellar in terms of his work commitment (perhaps he would get there in time), is more handy in terms of fending for himself at home. (Of course, the one in your fic, the one in the serial is equally at sea in both places! 😛 🤣). So he can whip up a decent upma and pasta---good for him. Pasta is one of my favorites, BTW. 😉

The same subtle beauty continued into Chap 46 as well. Ragini going out to "see off" Lakshya, and then spending an hour and a half talking in the corridor---typical hubby--wife behavior when the wife is seeing off hubby from her maika. 😉

And Lakshya's frank revelation to Ragini, that he had Swara's happiness on his conscience as well---was touching, as well as reassuring to Ragini. She'd always obsessed incessantly that Lakshya still desired Swara, or could not get over her. But what he's feeling now is far more subtle, far more responsible. He wants to see her finding happiness and contentment, in a loving married life with Sanskaar.

Shomi's reactions here were so moving, so maternal. She came through as a genuinely wonderful person, who desires all happiness for both her daughters--her birth child as well as her step child. A very mature, understanding and forgiving woman. Thankfully, not as unrealistically mahaan/ doormat-like, as in the serial, either. 😛

The superb insight in this chapter was the little wisdom about love, which Shomi imparts to Ragini, in typical mother to daughter style. That she should just love Lakshya, deeply, happily, without clinging and nagging and expecting and equivalent reciprocation from him.

As she so beautifully said, love is a deeply potent force, and can be irresistible to the recipient, when the person displaying all that love does so unconditionally, selflessly and warmly. Lakshya would reciprocate in time, and all signs are, that he is already beginning to do so.

Superb, Bubble. Now I do hope for the next couple of chapters, in your inimitably subtle and lovely style, on SwaSan. 😉 I got to know from Lakshya that they are roaming around in a haze of romance and pheromones, do let us know more about that!! 😆 😳

Love,

---Viji

What a lovely, insightful comment!! Thanks so much. 🤗

The Best of Things
(Ragya, Swasan) Fan Fiction Series +16
By Bubble

Chapter 47
As it turned out, the seduction of Swara took far lesser time than either of them expected. Swara, in her innocence, didn't realise how soon her treacherous body could be brought throbbingly alive. And Sanskaar, in his patience, didn't know how many hang-ups an inhibited girl might have and was willing to take it as slow as she needed.

Perversely, once assured that she could dictate the pace, Swara conceded inches rapidly. Sanskaar, she found, was amazingly intuitive when it came to her. If she was preoccupied with something else, and not particularly wanting to be touched, he would keep his distance. But the minute her mood turned amorous or romantic, he would be at her side instantly, a hand at her waist, or possessively around her shoulders... blocking out the world with his silent but unmistakable demand for all her attention. How does he know? she wondered, what are these signals I send out that he catches so immediately?

He expertly paced their movement towards greater intimacy... knowing when to ease off and... knowing when to push. Once, Swara, shocked at his bold advances, shook her head in skittery panic but although he soothed her down with gentle murmurs, he wouldn't back off, adamant that she give way to him... But more often, he would rein himself on laboured breaths far sooner than Swara was willing to let go of him...

Their days and nights of courtship passed in a haze of intense romance combined with piquant frustration. All it took was one heated shared look at the dining table or sitting with the others on the back lawn to set them both ablaze with desire.

One moonlit night, in the relative darkness of their bedroom, they lay halfway across their large bed, their clothes in rampant disarray. As Swara thrashed from side to side in sweet agony, Sanskaar prepared to call a halt. But after so many days of foreplay, Swara had had enough of teasing. "Please, Sanskaar... Please!" she moaned softly, clutching his bare shoulders in feverish urgency.
His muscles straining with effort, he pushed the hair off her face, "Darling, are you sure?"
"Yes! Yes! Please... please Sanskaar!"
"Thoda dard hoga, Swara..."
She nodded her understanding... and on a high wave of mutual passion, they took the plunge.

Sanskaar lay face down, satisfactorily spent. One hard arm was still flung protectively across Swara who lay next to him, sated and exhausted. A few minutes later, he stirred, turned to gather her close... and stilled abruptly. She was staring into the moonlight falling on the world outdoors, tears streaming down her face.

"Swara!! Did I hurt you? God... I didn't mean.." he swore as he nestled her in his arms, turning on his back and taking her with him.

She shook her head, smiling through her tears... "I'm okay, Sanskaar... in fact, I'm absolutely fine!" She rested her cheek on his chest, her hand trailing across his stomach.

"Phir tum ro kyun rahi ho?" he asked softly, settling her close.

She looked up at him, eyes luminous with tears... and something else... "Just. Just that I love you. So much. So so much."

She was emotional but she hadn't realised that she was saying anything momentous, but his body gave him away. All breath seemed to have ceased, and his muscles had gone hard.

She raised her head to look at him questioningly.

"You love me." He managed to say flatly.

"Yes," she said slowly, not understanding his reaction.

He took in a deep juddering breath and then a few more, as he looked at her face. His heart was racing once again beneath her hand. She looked back at him for a moment. "Didn't you know?"

He shook his head.

She raised herself on her elbows. "Did I have to spell it out like that for you to know how I love you?"

He looked away from her a moment and looked back at her earnest face. He nodded.

Tender amusement gathered on her face. "Dumbo!" she muttered. "Looks like I can't expect any commonsense from you - I'll have to explain everything clearly all our lives..."

"Yeah," he said, aiming for nonchalance, "you better come out and say anything you want me to know. I haven't passed my mindreading course yet."

"Okay..." she said, levering herself onto him, leaning over his face as her hair draped their faces. "Sanskaar, I love you... I love you... I love you..." each declaration was accompanied by a peck as she peppered his face and the line of his jaw with kisses...

Overwhelmed, he lay passively for a whole minute under her sweet blandishments and then gathered her tight, claiming her lips with his own.

All his wishes granted in a single night! He should have asked for world peace while he was at it.

+++

Freshly showered, wearing a Bengal cotton sari of cream weaved in with crimson, Swara stood in front of the mirror the next morning looking at herself with new eyes. She felt like a different person... she felt like someone's wife. She hooked the mangalsutra behind her neck and reached for the sindoor. She looked around for her husband. He was standing by the balcony door, the early sunlight framing his hair. His eyes, burning still with intensity, were on her.

"You better do this," she said, holding out the ornate kumkum holder.
He came closer and took it from her. He took a pinch of the sacred powder in his long fingers and moved to the parting in her hair. As she had done once before, she held his wrist and closed her eyes... in submission and acceptance of a fate more beautiful than she had dared dream of.
