Hair Stylist Sapna Bhavnani Accuses Katrina and the Fitoor Team of Racist Behaviour

January 29, 2016 Bolly-Freak 7410 reads 2 comments

We know that Katrina Kaif is sporting red hair in the Abhishek Kapoor movie Fitoor. The lovely lady of B-town has received mixed reactions for her red look. However a recent buzz about the cost of this red-haired look took Bollywood by storm.

A leading daily reported that the Fitoor team has shelled out roughly Rs 55 lakh to get that distinct shade of red on Katrina's locks. Apparently the actress couldn't find any professional locally who could give her mane the desired shade of red for the character. So she ended up recruiting a London-based hair colouring expert for the job.

Well, this news apparently came as a shock to celebrity hair stylist Sapna Bhavnani, who lashed out at Katrina and the Fitoor team on Facebook. She wrote, " The white people left but we are still smitten by them. Any Indian stylist could've done this job (maybe even better or suggested her not to do it cuz it doesn't suit her) but that's not the point,The point is which Producer would've paid an Indian Stylist 55 lakh to do the job?? Lol, I don't think I even need to answer that. I love our Indian Hair Industry and salute every stylist working their ass off and want them to know we are worth more! This racism is evident in every field be it modelling, cinematography, directing, hair/makeup, wardrobe, etc Etc ... This has to change. First, a woman, then an Indian.. Two whammies against equal pay is just ridiculous. #katrinaKaif."

And if a Hollywood actress used the services of an Indian hairstylist or costume designer, would this Sapna woman cry out "racism"? This is just the definition of butt hurt. Get on with yo life. Make yo muny and breathe.

Throwing around the word racism is becoming like crying wolf. 😒
Red hair or even streaks of red is not that uncommon among women of Asian and latin American origin IME more so than blond. It is one of easiest hair to blend in with the black if not the easiest and looks very nice especially when the sun hits it. So Kat's red hair is not that out there to what I've seen and it blends in with her features well.

As for looks, has anyone suggested to this lady that her hair color and cut does not suit her ? I would not trust her to touch my hair or even come a mile within it.

NO, it would be the " Indian" has ARRIVED !!

Having said that let me ask ... When HW needs an authentic flavor, they come to India to get the feel viz MJ, Life of Pi (Tamil Lullaby, dances etc) But when it is just a matter of setting of few mins .. they create it in their own studio ... So was a coloring of hair such a fine art that it needed someone from abroad ... Would the hair not have turned that burgundy had an Indian colored it..

Tabu did nt get her hair colored in UK yet her hair sports the same coloring...
