NEW DELHI: In a fitting tribute to the 50th year of 'Mother India', during the filming of which love bloomed between Nargis and Sunil Dutt, has been released by the noted film-director Shyam Benegal.
The book, titled 'Darlingji' documenting the love story of the legendary actors, has been written by Kishwar Desai.
Asked if the passionate love story of the duo as presented in the book could inspire the making of a film, Benegal, said 'on the face of it, it is an unlikely subject for a film, but after reading the book I can say, not one but several films can be made out from it.'
The book, 'Darlingji', derives its name from the affectionate nick name Nargis and Sunil referred each other with.
Speaking on the equation shared by the two actors, Benegal said, after releasing the book on Wednesday, that Sunil and Nargis Dutt's relationship was surrounded by least gossip.
"Unlike the much publicised 'Rajkapoor- Nargis affair' Sunil and Nargis Dutt's was a relationship not many people know about. Both of them were celebrities but when it came to public life the two were extremely private people," Benegal said.
Calling the lead pair of her book as an unforgettable couple, the author, claims that the book is 'the first film based biography which is not based on gossip.'
