Chap 22
The Growing Up Pains
Alya was sitting on a couch with her head flumped on the back rest; her lips were dry and her throat was burning. She opened her eyes and took another sip of water but it didn't help; it was out of her mouth before it even got fully in. "Water won't quench this thirst anymore." Neyonika's voice got her attention. "You are a vampire now and too a new vampire so you will be in immense thirst and you will be weak." Alya sighed and asked "What should I do? I am hungry all the time but I don't feel like eating; I am thirsty but I don't feel like drinking water." Neyonika let out a sarcastic smile and replied "water and food are for mortal we vampires survive on blood; we are the greatest hunters to have ever walked on this planet. Rulers of the darkness."
"so Alya from now on you will need this to survive." Neyonika said and forwarded a blood bag. "This is from our hospital!" Alya was shocked. "Yes it. We stole it what do you want us to go on a blood fest in town?" Dhruv said as Alya took a sip from the bag and said "I never thought I will feel the adrenaline rush from drinking blood." Dhruv smiled and said "Well welcome to the darkness but you have to learn many things like how to control your urge around humans, you need to learn hunting, control your heightened emotion which are raging within you as your hormones are on a rampage." "Boy this is tough." Alya thought as she concentrated on the blood.
Meanwhile at Singhania's place all hell broke loose. Mukti was seething in rage that her boy friend, the guy whom she loved and trusted was a werewolf. Cabir and Mr Singhania was finding this hard to believe that they belonged to the original family of witches and they themselves were Warlocks (male witches are called warlocks). "Harshad is a werewolf but how did we not know this?" Vandana asked all surprised. "If we can find out vampires then why not werewolves?" Mukti questioned.
"Well that should be answered by our granny dearest." Manik said as he walked in hand in hand with Nandini. Mukti looked at him with great anger; her brows cringed and soon Manik felt a sharp pain in his head. "Aaahhh!" he fell on ground holding his head. He was in immense pain shouting constantly holding his head rolling on the floor, Nandini was scared "Manik! Manik what happened?" suddenly dadi shouted "Mukti stop it what are you doing?" Nandini looked to find Mukti trying her spell on Manik to give him pain.
"Mukti stop it." Nandini screamed; "No Nandini why should I stop he ruined everything." Mukti screamed. "Mukti what are you saying stop it." Nandini tried to reason with her again but failed as Mukti was just not listening and Manik's suffering was increasing every minute. However Manik was still a vampire that a powerful 500 year old vampire; he gathered all his strength and stood up and grabbed Cabir's neck.
Soon the vampire in him took over as blood drew in his eyes and his fangs came out. "Stop your spell or I will suck every ounce of his blood and kill him." Manik screamed scaring everyone. "Manik please." Nandini tried to speak but he looked at her with his blood shot angry eyes scaring her and she decided to keep quite. Manik was weak but he was still powerful for Cabir and seeing Cabir struggle for life Mukti finally let him go saying "leave my brother." After few moments Manik stabilized and said "you witches so need to be disciplined." And he snapped Cabir's neck.
"Cabir!" everyone screamed and ran when he collapsed on floor lifeless. "He is fine will be up in few hours." Manik said and then shifting his gaze to dadi he continued "This is the last time I am warning you Gayatri get your clan to act right or else he will be dead for sure." Mr Singhania shifted Cabir to his room and came back to find what is the further mess to be created. "I want you to make a day light ring for Alya so that she can go out." Manik said looking at Gayatri, Vandana and Mukti.
"But I still don't understand why couldn't aunty and Mukti or anyone know that Saxena's were werewolves like they knew about you and what is a day light ring?" Nandini asked curiously. Manik smirked and looked to Gayatri and said "care to answer?" dadi sighed and said "cause I had blocked that sense of our minds. I always knew that Saxena's were werewolves and we shouldn't be too friendly with them. But when Mukti and Harshad's friendship started growing they promised me they will protect Harshad from the curse so I had blocked all your magical sense for werewolves but unfortunately the inevitable happened."
"Now kindly unblock the senses and unleash their spell." Manik ordered and then turned to Nandini "we vampires are slaves of sun and werewolves are salves of moon. That's why we can't roam in harsh sun so we either have these rings or come out only in the night. Werewolves are cursed by moon so every full moon night they turn. This is commonly called as the curse of the sun and the moon." Manik informed. "But is there a way to break this curse?" Mukti asked. "Why worried about your wolf boy?" Manik asked her sarcastically.
Mukti got angry and said "You." But Manik cut her in between saying "ahha ahha don't even think of those witchy spells unless you want you father's head to be snapped next." As he ran in his heightened speed and stood behind Mr. Singhania. Seeing her dad in danger Mukti controlled her anger and sat on a chair. Manik too settled down and said "well yes this curse can be broken when vampires can roam freely in sun without getting burned and werewolves can turn anytime not only on full moon and that too without the pain but to break the curse we need the moonstone."
"And the blood of the human descendent of the original family of vampires." Dadi completed the process explanation. Manik sighed and said "but no one knows where is the moon stone know cause all we knew that vaishnavi took it from a werewolf but she died and we don't know if there is any human descendent of the original left." Saying this Manik got up to leave.
"I need the ring by tomorrow morning cause Alya need to attend the funeral of her childhood friend's grand dad and roam freely too." Manik said and turned to Nandini "we are inducting Alya to our coven tonight Nandini so I will be leaving and I will meet you once the ceremony is over. And don't even think of coming there cause firstly you don't know where it and secondly we can smell you." He kissed her forehead and started moving when she said "I want to meet my sister." "Fine I will bring her to you once we are back." Saying this Manik left to attend his coven meeting and induct Alya and to discuss the town werewolves problem.
