Raj's eyes are popping out of his head. "Armaan……yeh sab sach hi hai na, ya main sapna dekh raha hun?"
Armaan: (on tenterhooks) Sapna nahin Raj…..yeh ek nightmare hai…..nightmare!! Agar Pari yeh sab kar rahi hai toh pata nahin Jassi…..
Raj: Umm yaar….Jassi aisa nahin karegi……usse teri izzat ka bahut khyal…..
He trails off as Pari, having wrapped up her dance, has taken the mike, grinning nineteen to the dozen. "Ladies and gentlemen….actually, mujhe yahaan ladies se zyada gentlemen dikh rahe hai!.....yeh toh sirf appetizer that…..main dish toh ab aa rahi hai…..presenting: Gulmohur's Angels!!"
Raj chokes on his drink a second time as wild cheers and hooting fill the room. The stage is bathed in light again, and this time it focusses on three women in slinky red evening dresses, who are standing with their backs to the audience. A familiar tune begins to play, and to the strains of "Aaj ki raat", they turn their faces forward: Jassi, Neha and Beauty!
Nandu nearly collapses onto the wall. Raj drops his drink altogether. Armaan stands like a statue.
With come-hither looks and sensuous gestures, the three wifeys are an instant hit. Not with their other halves, though: Armaan grows as red as Jassi's gown and rushes towards the stage. But just then, an arclight shines fully on him, marking him and Jassi out as the two lighted spots in the dim hall. There is silence for a moment.
Then, as the DJ strikes up another tune, she gives a scornful toss of her head, and advances towards him.
"Ja re ja o harjai…..dekhi teri dildaari….
Dil de kar main kar baithi, dil ke dushman se yaari…."
Armaan stands stupefied. She advances towards him with a deep, dark expression in her beautiful eyes, and puts her arms around him, "Tujhko baahon mein bhar ke….mar gayi main tujhpe marke…."
He soundlessly mouths, "Jassi?"
She moves away again, just as he reaches out a hand. "Pathar ki pooja kar ke…haari main haari!"
Now Neha and Beauty take up the rhythm, literally dancing circles around their hapless (and guilt-stricken) fiancs.
But by now, Armaan has found his voice. He takes Jassi by surprise by grabbing her from the back, and starts singing, "Jitne bhi tu kar le sitam…."
She tries to free herself. He gives the ghost of a smile and continues, "Has has ke sahenge hum…."
She struggles a little more. Onlookers, needless to say, are enjoying themselves immensely.
"…Yeh pyaar na hoga kum…sanam, teri kasam!"
