OK Guys!!

I have been meaning to start this topic for a while now, and my say is that if Dumbledore had never been gay the Harry Potter books would not have happened. I repeat. The Harry Potter books would never have happened.

Will come back to edit this post.

i dont think it is important...It wont change anything in HP???
If Jo is talking abt the attraction DD felt to Grindelwald, Its accep[ted as it is in the book. He was young, misguided and ambitious and desperate to do good to the world. Grindelwald lighted the fire in the couldron and that explains it...

so I found it very unnecessary at this time...

but I am interested to hear what u have to say abt that being a mst for the book missy...😊

😆
okiee till a few dayz back NO1 knew DD was gay n everything was just perfect!!

i mean seriously!!! a few dayz back no one was going tht deep into DD's heart... so why now???

the gay stuff began with JK interview n i seriously think a topic or two wud have been sufficient to discuss this... but thr r just too many now!!

it sorta puts u off... or maybe its just me😕

i wont suggest DD's gayness to ne1 wanting to have a healthy discussion... there r quite many other topics... say like... who is draco wife?? which house did albus severus get sorted into??? u have the 6th movie to talk abt too!!! the actors in it... the directors view on it... what do u want thr to b in it from the movie n wht can b skipped... wht is essential n just has to b thr... stuff like tht is way better wht being discussed lately over here...

n no i am not pointing @ this certain topic... i am pointing @ all such topics... it just happens tht this was the one tht really made me let go...

wht happened to the fact whn many disapproved of JK getting this bit out as there were ickle lil kids who r big fans of harry potter??? i dont think this forum is restricted to those fans...

umm... in the end my apologies if i hurt ne1... being honest right now i cant say if i meant to or not... but i do sincerely apologise 🤗

"DD being Gay" 😕 ....for me this statement is nothing but one of the intelligent steps 😉 JKR is taking to make the Potter series alive even after the official ending of the series....I personally don't like the fact to be disclosed specially when 60% of the potter fans are kid & underage 😕 .....a man without a family & once having a close friend does not imply that he is nothing but a gay 😕 ……if JKR though in that way then also I find no significance of this in the 7 potter stories ……the statement only signifies that though gays are not treated well in our society they can be a great human being 😊 …..but there exist thousand of such social issues & JKR cant include all of them in her story which is read by kids……..

I think I get what Missy6982 is trying to say.

The catalyst for many events in HP is Dumbledore.Dumbledore is a guiding/leading factor. Voldemort is afraid of him and Harry is inspired and guided by him. Basically, Dumbledore's support for Harry and his stand against Voldemort is the crux that carries the story.

Dumbledore would not have fought for muggles, equality, the greater good etc, if not for his guilt over Arianna and his family.

There would be no guilt if he had not wronged his family by being obsessed with gaining power with Grindelwald.

He would have not been so obsessed over his friendship and work with Grindewald had he not been emotionally attached to Grindewald.

So him being gay is something that creates the story. Call it being gay or for those who would prefer a very close, emotional and special friendship. Some friendships can just be a strong connection. Whatever connection Dumbledore and Grindewald has propels the story. So I guess their friendship is the more important factor, not whether Dumbledore liked him as a friend or more than a friend.

^^^i got the point..Missy was saying that his relation with Grindelwald decided the roots of the fight and win against Voldy(for without DD, they stood no chance against Voldemort)
agreed...

But necessarily, has it to be bcoz of the ATTRACTION he felt to Grindelwald. Take Voldemort for Example, he was such a brilliant wiz and so fascinated by magical secreats and it bcame the obsession of his life. I wont even dream of comparing DD and Voldemort(xcept that both are prodigiously skilled wizards), but in DD's case too, he was such a brilliant young man, he wanted to do some good(what he thought was best) for wizardkind(of course he was young and carried away). and he found himself in a terrible mess with a mad sister and a crazy brother to be looked after with lil gold and all his ambitions shattered and him shut up in the secluded village exasperated with the boring life. of course, Grindelwald came and they discussed and added fire to the empty couldron(read Dumbledore). of course he was instantly attracted by an equally brilliant young man and when he saw that all wasnt afterall over, he became emotionally attrated to Gellert. Its said that he always dreaded what Gellert wud turn out to be but turned a blind eye to it convincing himself but in vain....

I find this explanation quite evident in the book.
This statement of Jo that DD is Gay is unnecessary and most of all giving his relation with Grindelwald such a meaning is anacceptable and out of the mind for Jo.
