See this is really how it works for Sony TV.
CID and CP make up their sole running. Any other show starts off well, but then fizzles off as Sony doesn't promote it. It started last year or even earlier, but shows like Humsafars, 2025 Jaane Aage Hoga Kya, Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do, Reporters, etc. all started off well, but slowly fizzled away ending in a few months each. I know Reporters was a finite series to begin with, but even that show did not fare well. Other shows like Ek Nayi Pehchaan and Main Naa Bhoolungi started off with good concepts, but as is the Sony way, they became weird, unexplainable stories that simply ended before they did anything worthwhile.
Now Sony has forayed into the reality TV and mythological arena with Power Couple, Hanuman, and Karn. They also had Maharana Pratap, which ended to make way for Power Couple. From what I've heard Karn is going to end soon as well and Power Couple is a reality TV show so it has to end in a few months as well, leaving all of Sony's backing on CID, CP, and Hanuman.
If Kapil does come over to Sony TV with CNWK after Power Couple's end, it might help TRPs, but Sony still needs to promote the show well. They can't expect it to help their rating just because it has Kapil in it.
Now Sony also has another dance reality show in the works. But again it's a reality show with a finite run of a few months at max.
So at the end we're left with CID, CP, and now Hanuman. If any of these shows end, Sony is bound to see a dip in their rating even more. Imagine that Sony is now even below Sab because Sab at least listens to its viewers and comes out with new and interesting concepts where comedy is not always the main forte, but so are family, emotions, and realistic drama.
My basic point to this long spiel is that the rumours can fly as much as they want, but Sony would be idiots if they ended CID so soon without boosting their offerings with shows that can sustain Sony even after CID ends. And as much as I keep thinking that this is the final year for CID, somewhere I know that CID will probably go into 2017 at least as Sony works to bring in newer concepts though they don't seem to understand that along with new concepts they need to work on their scheduling, marketing, and promotions of shows as well.
