Safe Haven
She woke up screaming his name. She thought she might come close to losing him again. Twinkle peered around her and saw his unconscious form. Blood dripped from his forehead. She caressed his face and hands to awaken him. She winced noticing his wounds.
" Please Kunj utho, mujhe chor ke mat jaana!," she wailed thinking Yuvraj and his goons may have caused further harm to him after she fell unconscious.
Kunj slowly gained conscious. He heard her cries.
She calmed herself noticing his eyes fluttering open.
He slowly got up and groaning with discomfort. As soon as he got his bearing he reached for her and hugged her with all his might.
" Twinkle tum theek toh ho?," he asked as he caressed her hair.
He felt something sticky on the back of her head and she fell limp in his arms.
Kunj pulled back and noticed his hand now had fresh blood on it. He reached over and checked for a pulse. It was there but it was thready. He laid her on the ground. He knew he had to perform CPR before he lost her. Without qualms he got to work and soon he felt her gasp for air. He paused for a moment and then she merely smiled at him.
" Main theek hoon Kunj," she whispered.
He looked at her teary eyed and a tear drop landed on her cheek. He pulled her close and kissed her lips.
" I love you so much Kunj! Mujhe pata tumne mera saath kabhie koi galat baat hone nahin di,"she declared.
They returned to Amritsar to recover from their injuries. After each of them freshened up, Bebe and Leela tucked them into bed.
Twinkle awakened with severe pain and a nightmare later that evening. Kunj was startled with her fidgeting. He placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Kya hua Twinkle?," he asked.
" Bura sapna tha, aur mujhe bauth daard hora hai," she muttered.
Yuvraj had probably mandhandled her a lot. This made Kunj's blood boil for a moment but he knew he could help her feel better for now.
He got up to find some balm.
He returned a short time later, he had Twinkle lay flat on her stomach and he began massaging her shoulders and back.
His soothing touch lulled her to sleep in no time.
Kunj was tired as well but he was in love with the peace on his wife's face. He stroked her hair back behind her ears and gently straightened her kurti so she was covered properly. He covered her with the blanket and soon fell asleep beside her.
Twinkle awakened due to the sun shinning from the balcony. She blushed as she realized Kunj's arm was around her waist and her lips were merely touching his chest.
She leaned in and kissed his cheek.
His eyes fluttered open. He kissed her nose and asked," How did you sleep?"
" Acche se neend aayi finally," she whispered.
He was her safe haven. Laying here in his arms made her feel at peace.
Later that day, Twinkle brought tea and medicine for Kunj. He emerged from the shower with track pants, Twinkle turned her gaze away from his shirtless form.
She heard the door click behind her as she settled the tray. Her eyes widened and she looked back at her husband.
" Kunj yeh kya..,"
"Shh!"
She could feel the heat from his chest on her back. He leaned behind her for his tablets. He gobbled them quickly. He sipped his tea. His gaze never let her face.
"Kya sochre ho?," she asked nervously.
" I want you to return the favor," he declared.
" What favor?," she stammered.
"Massage," he stressed.
She turned scarlet red.
"Maine tere liye itna kuch kiya tum mere liye itna bhi nahin kar sakti?," he said dramatically.
She felt guilty.
" Theek hai. Finish your tea, then lay down. I will go get the balm," she stated.
Kunj raised his eyebrows at her in surprise. He just knew how to make her melt.
He lay down on his stomach. Her fingers worked their magic.
Kunj was well rested and so he had energy to stay awake. He pulled Twinkle to land on top of him. He caressed her face and the back of her head. They both leaned in for a kiss.
Later, Kunj got up to put on a shirt, Twinkle lingered her gaze on him as he did so.
He seemed to be in a hurry now.
"Kya hua Kunj?," she asked noticing how frantic her husband had suddenly become.
" Main thori dere main aata hoon. I have to go see about something important," he muttered.
Twinkle pondered what could be so important.
That evening, Bebe sent her up to the terrace.
She was amazed at the set up. She felt so loved and cared for.
Kunj offered her his hand for a dance. She gladly took it.
He swayed her downwards a few times but never let her fall.
She never felt scared when he dipped her. She knew he would always catch her .
He twirled her around, she felt safe and carefree. When she felt his touch on her waist she felt loved and wanted.
She was delighted to see the candle lit dinner. Kunj and Bebe worked together to set this up. They wanted her to feel better.
Kunj promised a holiday to somewhere beautiful and far away from any nightmares.
Twinkle could not wish for much more else.
