Shraddha is 28 and Parieeti 27...then why do people refer to them as new gen actresses? they are in Sonam, DP, Kangana and Anushka, Sonakshi's age group only.
let's face it, only new gen actress is Alia Bhatt. The present generation is badly under-represented in Bollywood, and I think the forum should take note as i think this situation seems quite serious. by now, bollywood should have been flooded with new gen actresses. but we have only one, who may/may not be a product of nepotism, but I at least feel her talent is seriously overrated. She has good screen presence tha's all.

Kriti also seems n the older age group only. She's 1989 born ( she was a senior in my school so I know.)

Why is Bollywood not interested in the 90's born actresses?

shradha's original debut was in 2011...but her career only took off in 2013
parineeti's debut was in 2011 and started well but she is going through a slump now

i guess they r considered new gen coz they haven't been around for long n are still relatively new

I don't think 26-27 is old. And I think they do represent new gen. And what's with 90 born? And what makes you think being only 21-22 represents new gen?

new gen kinda means new comers, who are going to represent bollywood in the next 10 years. Age has nothing to do with this.

I would say the new-gen categorization isn't based off age, it's mostly when they debuted and came in the forefront.

Kinda bcoz those in early 20's have a completely different mindset from those in late 20's. its a clear generational shift. Access to technology from a young age defines us, whereas they didn't have it. i am talking more about the mindset of people here.
i would put 1980-1989 in one generation, maybe stretch it to 1991. I am born in 1995 and i think they are very different from us.

Shraddha debuted in the same year as Sonakshi, so yeah I get why it's strange that's she's labelled new-gen whilst Sonakshi isn't.

I don't like to see 18 years being paired with khans😆...didn't like the pairing of sneha with sallu. I think 21 and up should be the age limit😊

Because Sonakshi made her mark with her first film in 2010. No one took notice of Shraddha until 2013 with Aashiqui 2. That's why Shraddha can get away with being in the same catergory as Alia and Parineeti. It's just clever rebranding by her and her team.

On topic: I don't think it has anything to do with age. The girls mentioned are classed as next-gen because they are vying for the same roles. Now if Alia was doing films where she was the only option available, then you can argue she is only one from next-gen or is in a catergory of her own. But I think the industry put Alia, Parineeti, Shraddha, Kriti and Athiya in the same catergory. Is that it? 🤔 I will agree with one thing, there does seem to be a lack of young female talent in BW.
