Many times here when any flaw or distortion in bm has been pointed out, its supporters have made the argument that slb is not making a documentary and thus he can take some liberties to suit the movie to the sensibilities of the movie going audience in our country...but is there any limit to this creative license? When does the distortion become too much to handle?..like for me, if kashibai indeed had arthritis then making her dance is a bit too much..even if she didn't have arthritis making the wife of a Maratha warrior dance with her waist showing is too much too...and then even the way he made bajirao dance...I can however handle mastaani and bajirao dying on the same day at the same moment instead of mastaani dying few days after bajirao..that is the kind of liberty I can take. But overall slb seems to take too many liberties to dramatize or romanticize stuff imo which led me to believe that I am perhaps not part of his target audience?
So what is the limit of creative license for people here?

The question needs to be asked to the author of the book 'Rau' as SLB gives a disclaimer that it's a visual adopted from that movie..

Anyone ready to ask the author that in twitter may be ! 😊

I really don't care about movies showing history and it goes wrong...after all history should be learned from teachers and text books and not a BW movie...BUT whatever they are making in the name of history...atleast it should be believable...from the people who have watched the movie in my group...what I have heard is that the last half hour was W*F is going on types...the movie may be gorgeous and beautifully made...but the ending is W*F...and I am waiting for a little more time to pass...and then the people are going to come out with their complaints...and then the fun will start...

Creative license becomes unacceptable when it resorts to misrepresentation of facts ( If the movie is based on facts) otherwise a bit of digression/mileage is acceptable.

For instance, I read in this forum that Maratha women indeed celebrate some sort of festival where women dance under the moonlight, considering this and also knowing for a fact that women in hinterland still have this policy, I do not have any qualms in watching Kashi dancing... Yeah, the dance was Bw'ish but would today's viewer's watch a purely traditional dance ..I do not think so...So I wud cut some slack for SLB

But I definitely object to Kashi waving the saffron flag and dancing showing her navel ... That was pure commercialism cuz no lady of position would show her stomach much less navel ...

I had problem with mastani dancing to mohe rang do laal in her father's court, in front of bajirao and her father enjoying it along with her mother.Which rajput father at that era would have allowed that? dancing, that too in front of father, and also a total stranger man who is also in a powerful position and can lust after her ?And also the knife ritual,is there any such ritual in bundelkhand? Why not show proper marraige cause real bajirao mastani were married off by her father as a sign of gratitude to bajirao.

But slb has some responsibility too..doesn't he?..he can't be all 'oh I only showed what was written in the book'
btw which visual is taken from the book? I thought the whole movie is based on the book..
