"Bye sweetheart, have a good day" he kissed her cheeks before she leaves.
He shuts the door and rolls his eyes, "Hope we never meet again!"
"Sidddhaaarth! What the hell yaar!" her scream echoed in the house and he closes his eyes.
"Abh kya hua?" he whispered to himself turning around to face the hungry lioness.
"Tum... yeh... bina trousers ke kya kar rahe ho?" she yelled back.
He looks down at himself and sighs; she stares at him for a minute - eyeing his ruffled hair, bare chest and his boxers - before she understands what was happening. She picks up the cushion from the sofa and throws at him.
"You sick pervert! Maine mana kia tha tumko! Rule number 1 was no girls staying over!" she shouted.
"Haan... haan I know... but tum bhi toh ladki hi ho?" he runs to his room to get his pants and escape her incoming attack.
"You ass, this is my home! Do din ki bhi chain nahi hai na tumko! I hate you! Mera guest room pura ganda kar dia tumne, gangajal bhi kum hoga usko saaf karne ke liye!" she came inside his room and turns around immediately.
"Ohhh hello! I can see who is a pervert and who isn't!" he teased while wearing his pants and shirt.
Roshni picks up the vase kept on the table and turns to throw at him,
"Oyee.. Pagal aurat!" he strides towards her and holds her hands stopping her.
"I am getting late for my meeting, boss na kaam se nikaal dega iss baar toh.. yeh faltu ke jhagre ka time nahi hai mere paas." He takes the vase from her hands and keeps it back on the table and starts settling his hair.
"Really faltu ka jhagra? Jab main tumse baat kar rahi hu toh faltu' ho gaya aur jab subha se uss model ke sang the tab kuch nahi hua?" she asked angrily coming in front of his view.
"Arre baby, I am so sorry!" he pulled her cheeks and continues, "You are my best friend, you are my bro.. tumko bhi unn stupid ladkio ki tarah samjhana parega kya?" he asked raising his brows.
"You can't always play this card with me! You know I hate it when you compare me with those bimbos!" she said raising her finger at him.
"Okay okay! Let's make a deal. I will clean the house today for breaking the rule?" he asked entangling his finger with hers and pulling her close.
Roshni eyes him for a moment until she gets assurance that it was not another one of his pranks.
"Deal! And spray some deo, you smell like a pig" she pushes him and leaves.
5 mins later : Kitchen
"Siddharth, have breakfast before you leave!" she calls out to him. He comes out of his room hurriedly and sits on the stool pulling the plate towards him that she laid out for him. As he gobbled down the food she spoke,
"Acha listen, It's date night for me and Kunal so I may come home late. Par iska yeh matlab nahi hai ki you bring another one of your girls here? Understood? It's just a day more I am sure you can control yourself" she teased him.
"Chirha lo jitna chirhana chahti ho, kal se main apne ghar mein rahoonga! stupid plumber ne pure bathroom ki band baja di warna acha bhala main apne ghar mein chain se rehta!" he said gulping down his cereal.
"Yeah right!" she rolled her eyes at him.
"Btw, where is that baldie taking you?" he asked casually.
"Siddharth! Don't call him that!" she throws the napkin on him.
"4th date hai na?"
"You are counting?" she asked slightly surprised.
"Aren't you?" he smirked.
"I don't know, he said it's a surprise!" she replied happily.
"I hope surprise ho, shock nahi" he laughed as he got up and continues, "Chal bye, cya later!" he slings his bag on one shoulder and turns to leave.
"What about the tie?" she asked him as she picked it up from the counter where he had left it.
"Oh, shit! Late ho rahi hai mujhko itni..." he comes back towards her and takes it from her. After a few attempts of tying it perfectly, she snatches it from him.
"Dude, who ties it for you every day?" she asked as she made him wear it.
"I know how to tie... pata nahi aaj..."
"You are nervous... don't worry, meeting will go well. Just relax." she said pulling the one end of tie and making a perfect knot.
Her voice soothed his nervousness, he felt relaxed and drawn towards it. It was not the first time that this had happened with him. And like always he just shrugged off that feeling from his mind when she looked up at him.
"You look great, you smell like deo and all the very best! Nail the meeting!" she pecked on his cheeks and pushes him towards the door. "Now goo" she pushes him further out of the house and waves a bye.
He kept gazing at her, this time it was difficult for him to shrug of that feeling from his mind. He waves back at her and smiles. She shuts the door, and he looks at the watch on his wrist. Seeing the time, he panicked and ran to find an auto.
Evening
"Ohh god m late, aaj toh ghar ki safai bhi karni hai.." he unlocks the door with the spare key hid under the doormat and enters the house. He keeps his bag on the sofa, the plastic bag on the kitchen counter and looks around.
"Chal beta Sid, lag ja kaam pe!" he said to himself.
An hour and forty minutes later, the entire house was spot on clean. From dishes, to bed, to floor - there was not even an inch of dust on anything. He goes to the washroom to take a shower finally. Meanwhile, Roshni enters the apartment hurriedly.
"Yeah Kunal, I will not be late..." she said walking towards her room.
As soon as she enters, it didn't look like her room at all. Everything was not where it was supposed to be, or rather where she had left them. The entire room looked clean, in fact too clean for her eyes.
"Moron!" she whispered as she comes out of the room and walks towards the guest room, she was still on the phone.
"No, I didn't call you a moron... Uhh.. Kunal I need to get ready, so bye! Meet you in sometime." She cuts the call and bangs on the door.
"Siddharth!" she yells.
"Roshni!" he shouts back at her.
"Unlock the door and come out, I need to speak with you!" she said authoritatively.
"I am taking a bath, practically naked.. you want me to come out like that?" he asked back playfully.
"Ugh!! I am going to change, once I come out you wait and watch what I will do to you!" she threatened him.
"Ooo wild huh? I can't wait!" he replied back with a laugh.
After a while, Roshni knocks on his door lightly.
"Siddharth?" she whispered.
"It's open and why are you whispering? What happened to the wildness from before?" he opens the door further and looks at her.
She was wearing a royal blue shimmering dress and was looking gorgeous.
"You look hot!" he said impulsively.
"Really?" she asked unsure of herself.
"Really hot!" he grinned and continues, "Why are you holding your dress like that? Its killing the hotness!"
"My hair got stuck in the zip and I am having a difficult time pulling it up!" she said meekly.
"And you want my help?" he raised his brow.
"Duh?"
"Come here" he turns her around and removes her hair. One of the strands was stuck on to the zip, he gently starts removing it.
"You know what, I am better in unzipping than zipping" he whispered.
She stamps on his foot, and he yells "Ouch!"
"I am already very nervous with Kunal and this surprise that he keeps talking about! Don't add on to it!" she said.
"What's there to be nervous about? It's just a date... go have dinner, dance to some light music, kiss him at the end of the night and come back home!" he smiled staring at her.
"What? Kiss! It's just the 4th date..." she stared back at him.
"So you didn't kiss him yet? Are you planning to?" he grinned cocking his eye.
"It's nothing of your concern" she replied hitting him with her elbow.
"Of course it is my concern! You are my bro, and don't you know a bro tells his bro everything!" he smirked as he successfully removed all the hair from the zip.
"Really! Have you told me everything?" she asked.
"I thought you didn't wanna know, but since you are asking... so the girl I met yesterday! She was so damn hot! She came on to me, flirted a bit and then in the room you know.." she keeps her hand on his mouth shushing him.
"I changed my mind, I don't wanna hear anything else!" she said in her disapproving tone. He kisses her palm making her remove them from his mouth and hitting him on his shoulder.
"Eeeww! Idiot! Yeh zip bandh karo, mujhe late ho raha hai!" she said turning her back again and placing her hair on one side of the shoulder at the front.
The grin that had appeared on his lips slowly disappeared as he looked at her smooth bare back. Hesitantly, he pulls the zip upwards gazing at her beauty.
He felt something at that moment. For mere seconds, she was not just his friend there. She was a girl. But not any random girl, she was a girl whom he knew inside out for the past four years. A girl whom he had adored since the day he had met, but not for her physicality but for her pure heart and strong mind.
His fingers linger over the nape of her neck, for a few more seconds after he completed his task in hand.
"Siddharth?" she whispered as she felt his touch. At once she knew it was not a friendly one. Her words break his trance and he leaves her immediately.
"Umm.. kuch laga hua tha..." he stammered avoiding to meet her eyes.
"Is everything alright?" she asked him turning around to face him.
"No.." he mumbled.
"What's wrong?" she gulped down in anticipation.
He takes the scarf from her hand, while she just keeps looking at him trying to understand him. He wraps it around her neck and whispers in her ears,
"It's perfect now. You look pretty."
"Really?" she blushed.
"Yeah, You look like a girl!" he winked making her roll her eyes at him.
"Siddharth, I will kill you!" she smiled and walks out.
He follows her while speaking to himself, "You are killing me"
She takes her purse and wears her heels when he suddenly remembers, "Oye main toh bhool gaya! I cracked the deal and I may get promotion soon!"
"What!! Congrats, man!" she jumps happily and hugs him tight.
"I am so happy for you! We need to celebrate!" she loosens the hug.
"Yes! Hold that thought", he brings the cake from the kitchen and shows it to her. "Your favourite"
"Rum cake! Wow! Ahh I should have cancelled this stupid date!" she frowned.
"You would do that for me?" he asked surprisingly.
"I do not like that surprising tone in your voice. Tumhe shak hai?" she smirked.
"Well the thought of you cancelling a date for me is enough, bro. Now go and have fun. The cake isn't going anywhere and I will wait for your return. Then we will compete and see who can eat the most, what say?" he said holding her shoulders.
"I say, perfect plan" she flashed her teeth.
"Oh, and one more thing I hope you are wearing those red lacy ones in case there is some action out there.." he murmured as his eyes sparkled with amusement.
"You checked my drawers?" she asked with her eyes wide open.
"I cleaned the house, ain't i? You have really interesting stuff in your room." he teased as he started to run backwards coz he knew what was coming next.
"You sick perv." she opens her stilettos to throw them at him.
"Usko bacha ke rakh apne date ke liye!" he laughed.
"Shit! Date! Kunal!" she looks at the watch. "We will continue this when I return!" she said sternly and leaves.
"All the best, broo" he yelled at her retreating figure and laughed.
The echo of his laugh came back ringing on his ears and a sudden uneasiness crept on to his mind. His smile fades away and all he could hear next was his heavy beating of heart.
