I won't prostate on the floor for marks

I'm above all that: Pooja Bedi
Pooja Bedi and Hanif Hilal are eliminated from this week's Nach Baliye. However, Bedi isn't as upset about being out of the contest as much as she's hurt by the judges' comments and reactions to her performance. Here the bindaas Bedi spills the beans on what transpired between her and the judges on Monday night's shoot …

Are you upset over the ouster?
No, I am not. If the audience wants me, I will be back. It's the lack of clarity in the judges' marking that has dumbfounded me. I can't fathom how one gets lavishly praised for the performance and ends up scoring low, while others are criticised and get an all-time high of nine.

What did you argue about with Vaibhavi and Ishaa?
After our performance, we were told we had really good energy, were wonderful and brilliant. But when it came to giving scores we received a mere 7. On the other hand, Rakhi's performance was lashed out for having zero energy, and both Vaibhavi and Ishaa said they were disappointed with her act. But when it came to scoring, she got 9 from them. I fail to fathom how can your comments and marks be totally out of sync.

Did you get your point across to the judges?
Yes, I was trying to make my point when the director cut in and said the judges don't need to give any explanations. All I wanted to know is that if you praise my performance and call others terrible how do they end up getting more points than me! In fact, Alexx (Swetta's partner) too wanted to speak up, but they just cut his mike. I found it really insulting. When I respect the judges I expect the same back. We too are celebrities in our own right.

Do you think the judges were partial to Rakhi?
All I can say is that I won't prostate on the floor to get marks. Neither will I compare the judges to Mother Teresa and Aishwarya Rai to suck up to them. I am not good at doing histrionics or using my mother to get the audience all wallowed up in sympathy. I believe in working my butt off and giving a solid performance. I will take criticism with lan as long as it's justified.

Are you hopeful on coming back in wild card round?
If the audience wants us back, why not. But I am happy to get some time off to be able to get back to my acts of charity and travelling. I see this as a welcome break.

She is frank. And this time she is right about certain contestants sucking up to the judges and creating dramas for sympathy votes. Unfortunately the truth is bitter.

Well, Rakhi's last week performance was much better than Pooja's. I haven't seen the episode yet but Pooja really needs to get a proper perspective of things. Pooja's last week episode seemed to me as just an 'execution of steps' and then she was like 'What? Okay! You're the judge'. That was really rude, considering the judges are MUCH more experienced than her and atleast Rakhi listens to them and respects them by valuing their comments (though she does add her own quirk of 'humour' and comments after the performance).

Well, first of all you don't need to prostrate on the floor to get marks. 😆😆😆 What about Rakhi and Abhishek's 'natkhat' performace ? I don't remember Rakhi prostrating on the floor to get marks! 😉

But Pooja Bedi's right about one thing - the 'sucking up' part. Even I think Rakhi went too far in her appreciation of the judges, namely when she said 'When I found out David Dhawan was going to be a judge on this show, I watched all his movies.'. That did seem like sucking up.

As far as Rakhi's mother is concerned, Rakhi and her mom are (as far as I have read) are very attached to each other and her mom is not there for 'audience sympathy', and for any mom, seeing her child's achievement would make her happy.

And I think that Pooja Bedi needs to see her 'Touch Baliye' performance again. I remember reading many people saying on the forum that her performance was 'too revealing' - which even I thought but then I read that she used skin tights in the performance (which I would'nt have even noticed). So, atleast if she didn't "prostrate on the floor to get marks", she showed more skin (or skin tights, whichever you feel is more correct 😆)than required in the
'Touch Baliye' performance.

Just my two cents. 😛

Thanks for sharing. She is right and wrong about some points. At times it does seem that the judges are partial to some jodi's as they are their favourite and they are visibly hurt to give them low scores. But i think that Pooja is a bit too over confident and like i've said before, she cannot take defeat easily. She likes to fight to give her opinion whereas Hanif will probably just accept the truth. She is right though about the 'sucking up'. Everyweek Rakhi or Abhishekh do something or the other to provoke sympathy from the judges...like when Abhi said about how his mother goes to some temple barefeet and does pooja for him etc etc and how Rakhi stopped eating rice or something. They do like to slightly personalise the show in their favour but they do over do it ALOT!
