Chapter 16 - Sukanya's Wedding
Recap - Jodha has a chat with Moti about the dinner date failure. Jodha and Jalal share some moments in his office and they each reveals to the other that someone in their family knows about their relationship. Adham's side of the story is shown. Suryabhan wishes he didn't have to attend the business meeting and is looking forward to the day he and Jodha meets.
Sukanya's House
She hears Jodha sigh for the nth time and couldn't stop the small smile that came to her lips knowing well the reason behind her cousin's sigh these past couple of days.
Her cousin and her family had come down to her place for the wedding a few days earlier to help out with the wedding preparations and take part in the pre wedding ceremonies. But ever since the moment Jodha stepped out of the car, her face was missing something.
And she of course knew the cause of it. Jalal, her cousin was missing her lover. Although Jodha did enjoy spending time with her, she knew that nothing anyone does could bring back the lost part of her.
Of course Jalal is the only one who could do so but then again how would that be possible for he is not here.

She misses him. It's only been two days but she misses him so bad that it feels like it's been ages since she saw him. But who could blame Jodha, the past month was so wonderful that it felt as though it was all a dream.
Both Jalal and she grew much closer as they got to know more about each other. Both had shared their dreams to the other. She had also shared some of her secrets that she never told even her close cousin Sukanya to him and he in turn was honest to her about his past relationships.
Somewhere deep down Jodha felt that Jalal was still hiding something from her yet she knows that he would tell her about it when he was ready and kept quiet about it as she knew he just needed some time to sort things out.
All the pre wedding ceremonies are taking place but Jodha can't seem to stop her thoughts from drifting to Jalal. She was curious as to what he was doing, if he was doing well and whether he misses her as much she does him.
Yes Jalal calls and texts her every day, be it morning, noon or night he would use his free time to give her a call but it do much as she wishes to see him and talk to him face to face not through an electronic device.
When it was time for the mehendi ritual to take place, she helped Sukanya pick out a pattern to adorn her hands and even told the mehendi wali to make sure the mehendi is drawn beautifully and to include the grooms initial onto the pattern.
As Jodha was busy pointing out the perfect spot to hide the grooms initial to the mehendi wali, her mother came up to her and said
"Jodha beta, why don't you adorn your hands with mehendi too?"
"No maa, it's okay." Jodha replied.
"Yes Jodha didi, you should do that." Sukanya piped in.
"But..." Jodha hesitated.
"No buts Jodha didi, come sit beside me. We will chat while the girls draw our mehendi." Sukanya said.
"Okay, I will." Jodha replied.
"Do you need my help in choosing a pattern for you Jodha?" Mainavati asked.
"No maa, I will choose it on my own."
"Okay. Sunno." Mainavati called out to the girl who was showing Jodha some patterns and says "After you finish drawing the pattern, do add in the initials JS."
"Why JS maa?" Jodha asked confused.
"What sort of question is that beta, it's the initials of your name, J from Jodha and S from Sharma." Mainavati answered.
"Yes of course."
True that JS stands for Jodha's full name but the S actually stands for Suryabhan instead of Sharma. Not that Jodha would know as she would definitely not get it done if she knew the true reason behind in. Mainavati had avoided the topic of Jodha's betrothed for now and she was only lucky that it was such a coincidence that the initials play two different parts.
As Mainavati left from there, Sukanya called out to the girl who was drawing Jodha's mehendi and said "Didi, can you change the initials for my Jodha didi over here from JS to JJ?"
Hearing this made Jodha's cheeks grow pink, and Sukanya started teasing her after explaining the reason behind the change of initial to the girl. After the mehendi dried up and was washed out, many relatives came to have a glimpse of the bride's mehendi as per tradition on the believe that the darker the mehendi turned out, the more love you would receive from your groom.
Although Sukanya's mehendi had turned out dark, Jodha's was much darker than hers and many relatives teased Jodha on how much she would be loved by her future husband. Mainavati who saw her daughters hands were thrilled that Jodha's mehendi was so dark that she felt as though that Suryabhan was indeed the one destined for her daughter.
Upon looking at Jodha's hands, Mainavati tried to search for the initials that she was so excited about and frown slightly when she couldn't find it after searching for long and finally decided to ask Jodha where the initials were written at. But before Jodha could answer her mother, both she and Sukanya were pulled away by the latter's friends.

When Jalal had first received the phone call from Sukanya, he had wondered what she could possibly want from him. He had thought that maybe she would give him the whole if-you-ever-hurt-my-sister, I-will-kill-you speech but was instead surprised when she had asked him if he could come to her wedding.
Before he could decline though, Sukanya had revealed the reason behind the invitation and he got to admit that he liked the idea mainly because it was a sweet surprise for Jodha and the icing on the cake was that he gets to meet Jodha's relatives.
Now mind you Jalal too had a surprise in stored for Jodha since the whole purpose of him attending the wedding was for her. As he got out of his car, he can't help but feel excited to see Jodha's face which he had been missing for these past few days. He called up Raghav whose contact number was given to him by Sukanya.
He greeted Raghav and once again congratulated him on his wedding. He and Raghav had hit it off better than he expected, finding a friend in him. As Raghav took him in the house, his eyes searched that familiar sight he has been missing for so many days.
After keeping his belongings to the room assigned for him, Raghav took him to introduce to some fellow friend and relatives stating that Jalal was a friend he had come to know at a business conference that they had both attended a few months back though they never really met the other.
Once they were done, he was finally introduced to Sukanya who was just as excited to meet him. Sukanya was a fun, outgoing girl and Jalal could understand why Jodha was close to this cousin of hers.
But he was getting impatient, the only reason he agreed to come here was so he get to spend some time with Jodha and surprise her but it had been almost an hour since he arrived and still he have yet to meet Jodha.
Before he could say anything though, Sukanya had dragged him to the side and said
"Jodha didi is in my room, no one is allowed to go there except me and didi. You can meet her there."
"But... How?"
"I'm sure you need some private moment together, you have about half an hour by yourselves. That's the most time I can prevent anyone from going in mainly didi's mother."
"Okay, thank you."
"Your welcome. Now go and surprise my didi."
Jalal chuckled as he told her he will do just that. Once he was in front of the room, Sukanya called out to Jodha and asked her to open the door.
The door opens with Jodha saying "Sukanya, can't you open the door on your own? It's not like your mehen...di... h...hasn't dried yet." She stammered as she sees Jalal standing in front of her with Sukanya by his side.
"Jalal? How did you... What are doing here?"
"Really that's the first thing you have to say didi?! Shouldn't you hug him and shower kisses on him?" Sukanya teases.
"Well I wanted, I mean we both wanted to surprise you so, that's why I am here. If you don't want me here, I could go home." He turned around to go to his room when he felt someone holding his hand back.
He turns around and sees Jodha holding his hand, looking to Sukanya and said "Can you leave us on our own for a while?"
"Sure, remember you only have half an hour to talk." She says before closing the door behind her.
"Are you upset that I didn't tell you about our plan to surprise you?" Jalal asked.
"What?! Of course not! I... I missed you, a lot."
"Me too. Now am I supposed to just stand here or are you going to do all those things Sukanya had suggested a moment ago?"
She nodded and kissed him on his cheeks and thanked him for coming there.
"That's it?! I only get a kiss on my cheeks for coming here?" He asked dramatically.
"You will get more later when we are really alone." She whispered into his ears as her cheeks grew red.
"Are we not alone now?"
"Not really, Sukanya is waiting outside. Besides, anyone can barge in here anytime."
"Fine at least a kiss on my lips then? Just a peck on the lips." He pleaded her with his puppy eyes.
"Okay, just one."
She pecked him on the lips but little did she know that he had been planning the moment for her to do that just so he could get a full kiss out of her. Just as they were about to lose themselves in the kiss, they heard a knock on the door and Sukanya asking if they were done.
He brushed her hair to the back of her ears and said "I'll see you later." Before walking out of the room leaving a blushing Jodha all alone.

Humayun and Hamida finally landed in India, the decision to come after a month had been Humayun's as he wanted to settle all his business deals before he and his wife headed off to spend time with their son, Jalal.
The two of them were excited to meet their boy after 5 years but above all, they couldn't wait to meet jodha. Over the past month, Jalal had kept in touch with them and called them every day to ask them how they are doing, how their day was and he in turn told them of his.
Before boarding the plane or rather the next day after the first day they had heard from Jalal about Jodha a month ago, both Humayun and Hamida had gone shopping for the lovely girl who they hadn't met but already loved for what she had unknowingly give them back.
They had once spoken to her on the phone when Jalal called them up one day while he was in the office and suggested they talk to Jodha too. The moment they heard her speak they had loved her all the more for her gentle and respectful manner of speaking.
They knew then that their little boy had grown into a man now and he is wise enough to make his own decisions and he had succeeded in making the biggest decision in his life which is finding the right girl.
They couldn't wait to finally meet Jalal and Jodha and shower her with all the gifts that they had bought for her and hoped that she will come to love the gifts they bring.

Rekha and Suraj were happy that their son, Suryabhan would finally settle down. When Jodha's rishtha came to them, they were skeptical about whether Suryabhan will like her or not as they both knew he had rejected many other rishthas before Jodha's.
Who would have thought that the son would agree immediately after seeing Jodha's photograph. Then again the both of them had liked Jodha the moment they saw his photograph too.
When they went and meet Jodha's parents the next day, they too were happy to agree to the rishtha as well though they apologized for Jodha's absence. Truth be told they would have had Jodha and their son married as soon as they can but they knew that the couple would need some time to get to know each other and spend some time together before marriage.
When Surya left for his business trip, Rekha couldn't help but hope that the day Jodha would come to their house as their bahu and give her company would come fast. Meanwhile though Rekha started busying herself with looking out for bridal gowns, jewelleries, wedding halls and many more.
She even started preparing a list for the who she was going to invite for the wedding and asked some of her friends whose children has already settled down for a wedding planners contact information.
It was only a few days before Sukanya's wedding and they were excited to finally have the chance to meet Jodha as she was absent during Sukanya's engagement. Only thing missing was their son who promised to try and make it for the wedding.
When the day of the wedding approaches they would meet their future bahu and discuss further details for Jodha and Suryabhan's engagement and the dowry they are to receive from Jodha's family.

A middle aged couple walked in the wedding hall, there was something about them that attract Jodha's attention though she can't seem to figure out the reason why. Perhaps it was because they had the most beautiful bouquet of flowers she had ever seen in their arms or that they seemed like they were lost.
She found that neither one of her cousins were there to welcome the guest and decided that it would do no harm if she went and welcome them instead until her cousins were back from wherever they went.
"Welcome Uncle and Auntie." Jodha greeted them with a sweet smile on her face.
The couple smiled back at her after thanking her and went in the hall. When her cousin came back to resume their position, Jodha found the very same couple standing at the corner of the hall, both their eyes searching for someone. So, she went over and asked them if they needed any help.
"Oh, it's okay child, you don't have to trouble yourself with us." The lady said.
"Please Auntie, it's no trouble at all. I would love to help you."
"We are searching for our son child, we tried giving him a call but he wasn't answering so, we are searching for him." The man replied.
"What is his name? I will help you ask around for him." Jodha said.
"Thank you dear. His name is..." Before the lady could say out her son's name they heard a man with an all too familiar voice call out
"Ammi, abbu! You guys made it." Jalal came over and greeted his parents whom he had not met in 5 years.
"Jarar darling, how are you?" Hamida hugged her boy. She had missed him so much. Jalal held her as close as he could without hurting her and took in the familiar scent that belongs to his ammi.
As they broke their hug, Jalal turned towards his abbu and called out "Abbu."
"Jarar, my boy." He then hugged Humayun and whispered sorry to his abbu over and over again. Humayun pat his son's back and tells him that it's alright now.
The family was so engrossed in their tiny family reunion that they failed to notice another presence among them.
Jodha who was standing right there saw Jalal's family reunion had to fight back tears that threatened to flow down.
Hamida who was the first to recover from the emotional reunion turned towards Jodha to introduce her to Jalal.
"Jodha?" Jalal called out surprised that Jodha was with his parents before Hamida could introduce them was equally surprised as Humayun to find that the sweet girl who greeted them and offered to help them search for Jalal was the girl their son loves.
"I...I...Uhm..." Jodha stammered not knowing what to do or say.
Jalal who realised her plight went over and stood next to her. He wanted to hold her hand and comfort her but he knew better than to do so here with the presence of her relatives so he opted to be just casual about it and introduced the trio to each other.
"Ammi, abbu, this is Jodha Sharma. I told you about her the other day and you've even spoken once before. And Jodha these are my parents, Humayun and Hamida Muhammad.
Jodha bend down and took their blessings, Humayun and Hamida were surprised but blessed her and was about to say something when Jalal was called over by Raghav leaving Jodha all alone with his parents.
Note: Hey guys sorry for the disappearance but a lot has happened and well I am back but unfortunately I am having a major writer's block hence only posting one chapter. I really need some inspiration and support from you guys and sorry for not replying your previous comments I figured you would rather read the new chapter than my reply on the previous chapter. I hope this chapter is good, if not then please forgive me for a crappy chapter.
