Sales of the latest Harry Potter book helped boost revenues in the third quarter at online retailer Amazon.com. The retailer said profits in the three months to 30 September quadrupled to $80m (39m) with more online sales. In interviews on Tuesday, J.K. Rowling said she knew "very early on" in the writing process about Dumbledore, "probably before the first book was published," but didn't feel the need to spell it out for readers. Parents around the country told ABC News that when their children heard the news that professor Albus Dumbledore document.write(flat('yag saw')); was gay, most of them shrugged it off. Robin Moyher, who writes for the Chicago Mom's Blog, said that her son was not at all upset about the wizard's sexuality. "So what? JK Rowling and the Order of the Forest
JK Rowling was recognized in Toronto on Tuesday for demanding that 16 publishers around the world print her books using so-called "eco-friendly" papers. Vancouver-based Fraser Papers said on Oct. 12 that it has supplied the U.S. publisher of the book, Scholastic, with stock that contained 30% recycled content and with pulp that had been certified as environmentally correct. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling visits Toronto Tuesday for an appearance at the International Festival of Authors. She will be reading from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows before hundreds of fans in a downtown theatre, answer their questions and hand out complimentary signed copies of the book to everyone in attendance.
