Santan: about the show

Santaan is the story of Dixit family, who are based in Kanpur. It's the struggle of parents to bring up their children and then the pain of seeing those children move away. It's the story of a close knit family of Gayatri, Parikishit Dixit and their three children (Kartik, Adwait and Suhana). Gayatri and Parikshit got married to each other against the wishes of their families and they vowed to base their life and love on their children and given them a childhood, which they never got. A childhood filled with love, fun and respect. They made sure that their children got the best even if that meant Parikshit working harder than usual and Gayatri compromising on her needs. But both were happy their children loved them...

And after years of toiling, Parikshit retires when Kartik gets the high profile job in a MNC. They move to a big house and then starts trouble in the form of generation gap. Parikshit has always believed that work is part of a life and not the life itself, but Kartik having seen his parents toil for years believes in creating wealth. He is a workaholic with no time for his family. Slowly Gayatri and Parikshit realise that they have become outdated and have also become a cause of embarrassment for their trendy children. Whether it means the way they dress or the new environment of their new home where everything is expensive and fragile they find themselves in a completely different world. Even the neighbours are snooty and they find themselves confined just to their home.

Will the Dixits be able to adjust to the differences in their point of view and co-exist or will the family fall apart? Watch to find out.

CHARACTERS
Parikshit Dixit
Bright, intelligent, emotional and a strong believer in ethics. He is uneducated, but works hard. He is friendly and always ready to help people in their difficult times, even at the cost of his time and money. He is gullible because of which sometimes people use him.

Gayatri Dixit
A timid girl, who lost her mother early and then getting a step mother changed her personality. Although she is wealthy, she has missed the warmth of her parents. She has seen the happy family atmosphere in her friend's house and craves for such atmosphere. She has empathy towards poor and often helps destitute and her servants. After marriage she is changed and becomes more docile, vulnerable and always puts others before her, extremely affectionate and fond of Parikshit.

Kartik
He has seen his parents toil and this has made him tough. He is a little mature for his age and he worships money. He wants to make it big in life. He has seen how his friends were favored even by the teachers as they belonged to the rich families and he has vowed to become one. Even when he was studying he kept doing part time jobs for that extra money. Despite being brought up in a warm atmosphere he is not emotional. He wants his parents to relax and enjoy the luxury, that the wealth brings, but he also wants them to follow his ways. Is intelligent & shrewd. Is a smooth talker & knows how to get his work done. He values his position and status in society and fiercely guards it.

Shubh
An extremely simple, straight forward guy, who wears his heart on his sleeve. He is an emotional boy and isn't aggressive. He isn't interested in studies and is a little tapori kind. He doesn't think twice before fighting and can't stand his parents being insulted. He values emotions along with money.

Suhana
She is a modern young girl and looks up to her brothers. She enjoys partying. She has never been deprived or never seen her parents struggle. She is an open-minded girl and usually fights with parents about this. She is self-centered.

btwn, is Shubh suppose to b Adwait...becus didnt the Dixits have 3 kids.. 😕 anyhow, he is the only one who seems very respecting n close to his parents, the others seem to have drifted away over time...

This story reminds me of Bhagban, I jus hope the kids arent as mean as the kids in Bhagban were...(btwn, when I say it reminds me of Bhagban, Im not implying the distance that the kids laid down for their parents but the understanding of the generation)

Seems like a pretty cool concept...a break frm the usuals, so Im definitely gonna watch it 😊
