Talking to Khaleej Times in Dubai, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan insisted that Dilwale is not a Shah Rukh and Kajol kind of film, but a Rohit Shetty kind of film.
The cast of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming 'Dilwale' made a stopover in Dubai today, as part of their whirlwind promotional tour in select countries, including the UK and UAE, for the much awaited Rohit Shetty film.
The principle cast of 'Dilwale', including Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhavan and Kriti Sanon addressed the media at The Oberoi, after visiting the UK earlier this month.
Talking about the film to Khaleej Times, 'The King Khan, as he is fondly called by his fans, he said Rohit falls in the genre of 'vaudville' filmmaking.'nauntankee', which is an art form and he is very good at it. It's very 'Punch and Judy', Bustor Keaton and Charlie Chaplin all rolled in one style - with action and romance.
'It's nice to do a movie like this when one gets the opportunity, especially working with friends. However, this [Dilwale] film is not exactly that genre of movie.it's not Golmaal on steroids as Rohit has evolved himself for the cast he has got," he added.
"He has been very smart that way when he could have easily gone the 'Golmaal way'. You do, however, see bits and pieces of [the style], said Bollywood actress and Dilwale co-star, Kajol.
"It's actually a shockinly beautiful movie. The last three minutes of the film are so beautiful and poignant. It would be wrong to say it's a Shah Rukh and Kajol kind of film, it's a Rohit Shetty kind of film. Rohit is quite the genius," Khan was all praise for his director, with whom he is doing his second film after the 2013 hit 'Chennai Express'.

'Shah Rukh is the original dilwala'
Replying to a question about how dilwala (big hearted/generous) is Shah Rukh, Kajol said, "He is the original dilwala. There is an innate kindness about him - the way he looks at people - whether he knows them or not, whether they are his fans or not. It's a genuine kindness that comes through on and off screen. He means it when he says he will work till his last breath. He wants to make people happy.
"He makes sure the people that work with him grow with him which is a true mark [of a dilwala]."
"I honestly only work for myself," she quipped.
'Star Wars major competition'
Replying to a question about facing competition from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic biopic 'Bajirao Mastani', next weekend, King Khan joked that he is more concerned about the Star Wars: Force Awakens sequel.
"Star Wars is our biggest competition. In fact we will be against two major releases in South India too."
He reiterated that multiple films are bound to clash on weekends, and it's unfortunate that business will be divided.
In recent past, Khan has wished the team of Bajirao Mastani all the best, hoping that everyone makes money at the box office, come December 18.
Expectations
Commenting on what expectations did the star have from their fans, an excited Kajol said she hoped the movie would be one to remember for years to come.
"I hope the movie adds to their holiday cheer. Makes it one of those nice, happy Christmas memories."
While Shah Rukh said that he didn't expect the movie to change anybody's life, but he hoped that people learn to accept the frailties in relationship and come together.
"The film is about relationships. People should learn to accept frailties in people, be patient and forgiving. I hope that's what people take away from the film."
The fans will have a great opportunity to meet the stars as they make an appearance at the Arabian Centre Mall and Vox Cinemas (Mall of the Emirates).
Dilwale stars Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, Varun Sharma, Vinod Khanna, Kabir Bedi, Johnny Lever, Boman Irani and Sanjay Mishra. The film is produced by Red Chillies Entertainments in association with Rohit Shetty Productions.
The film hits the UAE cinemas on December 17.
