I always saw HDDCS as Ajay and Ash's film...

As a child I remember watching this movie frustrated that there was not enough Salman in it ( as a Salman fan, duh) and miserable at the fact that Nandani chose to stay with her husband at the end.
Even as a child I could see that Ajay had a more prominent and pivotal role in the film so why is it that this monumental film is seen as Salman and Ash's film ,and Ajay is sidelined? Not just by the audiences, but the actors and director and the film industry as well...

Or am I the only one that sees it like this? Salman's role was more like an extended guest appearance, and I don't even mean for this to be offensive, it's genuinely how I feel 😆

I used to feel really angry as well that Ajay's character ends up with Nandini. 😆 I agree with you.

Oh I couldn't believe the injustice of it in the climax(despite Salman's terrible acting there, where even as a kid I couldn't understand if he was secretly being happy about getting rid of Nandini for good or if he was genuinely sad...😳) and even till today Nandini's father is my most hated fictional dads...I still don't understand why Nandini couldn't end up with Sameer...😭...If the movie is made again, I bet it will be accepted just as well even if Nandini's character ended up with Sameer...
So yeah, I think all three of them have very pivotal roles in the story with the central character being Nandini...Because basically its her story!

Maybe my memory sucks, I only remember Salman being in it for the first half hour and then the last 10 minutes 😆

I don't like movies where the female lead choose another man over the main lead.

For me Salman is the lead male in the movie though the story basically revolves around Nandini.

But this movie makers knew where to rub you intensely. I hate to admit this even wen I made this rule - wen nandini separated with vanraj at London and that song !! Damn 😒 my heart just go out for Vanraj 😆

Nandini's character had a pivotal role in the movie. She's the central character.
Ajay, Salman who played the male leads had equal parts - Salman in the 1st half, Ajay in the 2nd.

It's hard to hate Vanraj. All along the 2nd half, I was eagerly waiting for Nandini to meet Sameer, but by the time that happens, even you fall in love with Vanraj. I was both happy as well as sad with the ending...sad for Sameer, happy for Vanraj.

And yeah, I too hated Nandini's dad and her bua in the movie 😆

Whatever said and done, one of SLB's finest and also one of my most fav movies.

Oh I completely agree. As a child I may not have understood why Nandu chose Vanraj, but as a grown woman I completely am 100% behind her decision! 😆 It's weird how perspectives change like that.

Honestly i loved HDDCS ending, it was a mature decision of Nandini. During her search for Sameer and the support Vanraj gave to her had a huge impact on her. I always found Sameer and Nandini love a teenage fantasy . She grew up all the time along and slowly fell in love with Vanraj's goodness. She choose whom she loved truly .
I read somewhere Salman wanted his character to end up with Nandini but Sanjay had planned his own ending and refused to end Sameer with Nandini..
