Really? Not to sound condescending, but who is paying us
moderators for this job?
The "why isn't anything been done?" argument is extremely overused. That's one I've ever constantly from members. My answering question is "why aren't you guys reporting?" 😊 Thousands of fan fictions are posted at this forum every single day. We cannot go through every single fan fiction and check which one is plagiarized, which isn't. It's not practical. If you see a plagiarized fan fiction, report it. We will deal with it. If you see one and choose not to report it, there's
nothing we can do.
Now, here's the thing, honey. We moderators, can only do one thing. We can only enforce the rules. What are the rules? Lock the thread down, raise the warning level (or ban the member) and later on, delete the thread. If you want actual technical solutions which makes it difficult for members to copy and paste, you should bring it up at a forum called 'Suggestions & Comments" and address this to the ADMIN. You are addressing the wrong level of authority here and continuously asking for 'change' at this forum from the moderators won't result in ANYTHING. Trust me.
We don't have that authority.
Also, I understand that your intention is purely to help the writers that may have been victims of having their work plagiarized but you aren't a lawyer. Giving out legal advice to these members is not up to you. As far as I know, a fan fiction is based on another work of fiction, hence, it is not original in the first place. If you were to claim plagiarism
legally, you probably wouldn't get far, unfortunately.
Finally, it is not appropriate for members to target other members to get your point across. I did read that you don't acknowledge this as targeting but I'm going to have it disagree. You are. Why? Because let me tell you that there hundreds of members here that have plagiarized - some of them still write and now, have started writing original content. You may even be reading the story of someone who once plagiarized. Either you list out all one hundred people or you don't list out anyone. List one person and that is targeting. You don't have that authority to reprimand a member for plagiarizing. The moderators do or the original author does. You are not that original author.
I'll end this post with saying once again, that the moderators of the Fan Fictions cannot do anything about the technical issues of IF. We can only handle the rules and those are the strictest they can be for plagiarism at this forum.
This topic is now closed. If you want something done about this, please go ahead and ask for technical solutions for plagiarism (such as enabling the NOCOPY code for ALL pages, not just one) at the S&C forum from the administration.
