So there was a bet between you2 and rogerrocks few months ago that if RK and his fans promoted Tamasha then DP would save RK's career as the film would be a hit. If not you2 would get a hahaha thread. If the film worked then rogoerrocks would get a hahahaha thread.
RK fans from what I saw kept their part of the deal. Promoted the film on the forum and went to watch it in droves. I didnt see any DP fans active on the Tamasha thread. But still the result is this:
taran adarsh @taran_adarsh

#Tamasha Fri 10.94 cr, Sat 13.17 cr, Sun 14.12 cr, Mon 5.07 cr, Tue 4.07 cr, Wed 3.32 cr, Thu 2.77 cr. Total: 53.46 cr. India biz.

The dwindling biz of #Tamasha illustrates that the film has been liked by a tiny section of audience, while facing rejection otherwise.

With hi-end plexes yielding maximum returns in Wk 1, much depends on how #Tamasha fares in Wk 2, especially in circuits where it fared well.

Overall, #Tamasha biz is disappointing in India. Better than #BombayVelvet, #Besharam, #Roy, but similar to #Rockstar, released in 2011.

Tamasha Drops On Weekdays

The collections of Tamasha dropped after a fair weekend. The drop on Monday was over 50% and the falls continued over the weekdays. The first week collections are 53 crore nett which is the eighth highest first week of 2015. The dropping weekday numbers make it tough for the film despite Hate Story 3 not being much competition as it holds little appeal where Tamasha has had its best performance.

The best collections were in Mysore which had the fourth highest first week of the year at around 4.75 crore nett. Mumbai went to 18 crore nett plus while Delhi / UP was around 10 crore nett. Delhi /UP should have done much better for this type of film and Delhi / NCR should have been the best performer across India.

The film is another setback for Ranbir Kapoor who is struggling to get the numbers since Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. The stardom is intact as talent is there but working with directors like Imtiaz Ali, Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu means a struggle at the box office as they have a story telling style which just alienates most of the audience, so whether the story is good or bad, the treatment given to it will mean the sort of numbers expected by the industry from Ranbir will not happen. A few years back they may have been able to get away with it.

But there is a shift in the paradigm of the box office over the last 18 months which makes it even harder for these type of directors unless they make non star low budget films. This slow shifting paradigm will continue over the next few years making it even harder for this sort of cinema to survive unless of course its low budget and comes without the baggage of stars.

So there it is...a hahahaha thread for you2.

They'd be filming xXx till July 2016. She can work in BW projects after that.

Thanks😊,but,without films there is nothing.

I am a strong believer that individual contribution to films is all that matters..Rest toh is time pass till the next film releases..

A long break overdue..I have been the most regular DP fan over the years.
