Balaji has postponed their Global Indian TV Honours to next year because they couldn't get the best hotels for their starry guests

Shobha and Ekta Kapoor are sparing no efforts to ensure that the first ever Balaji awards function is grand. The Kapoor women want the best of everything for their event. Even if that means postponing the function itself. And that's exactly what they've done when they realised they couldn't get the best of hotels for their starry guests.

Royal treatment

A source from Balaji admits, "The Balaji awards have been postponed. It'll now be held around January 25. We decided to change the date because no A-class hotels are available in December in Dubai because of New Year's eve. Besides, the Dubai Shopping Festival starts after January 24 and Balaji is planning to rope in big sponsors at the time."
Ekta wanted Shah Rukh to perform at the event, and even though Shah Rukh finally agreed to perform on December 20, Balaji changed their plans because they wanted King Khan to stay in the lap of luxury, and they could not provide him that.
Our source adds, "Shah Rukh has been extremely accommodating so we want to make sure that we give him the best of facilities. He's been given a new set of dates and he has to get back on that."

It's difficult

Shobha Kapoor says, "Shah Rukh will be performing at the event. We are working out the dates. His dates have never been an issue. He's been very accommodating but it's more practical for us to have the awards in late January or early February. There are logistical and location problems. It's Eid during the end of December and New Year's so good locations and hotels are difficult to find. We are still working on the dates. Most we will hold the awards after January 24."
The Balaji source adds, "The awards called the Global Indian TV Honours will be held at Abu Dhabi. Ekta wants all her big stars to perform. Talks are also on with big Bolly stars. Ekta wants this to be the biggest and the best TV awards."
