Apparently putting a disclaimer that "some changes have been made to the story" before your show allows you to go nuts with creative freedom. Stories are twisted, characters are pulled out of ass and magic and supernatural shit is added.
I used to chalk these shows off as stupid and harmless TRP traps but today I realized how much harm these shows are causing. I had a kid from my locality argue with me that Chanakya mentored Ashoka when I said that he didn't. His argument was that how could be the TV show wrong when his history teacher recommended his students to watch it.
I simply do not understand the reason why they put so much shit in their shows that they become shitfests. In Jodha Akbar there was Khooni Darinda , a beast who fell in love with Jodha. In Chakravartin Samrat Ashoka Queen Charulata is using black magic to constantly annoy Dharma. I remember the creative director for Shivaji stating in her award acceptance speech that "Shivaji valiantly faced the cannons of Britishers".
And who gives the creators of these shows the right to paint a historical figure in bad light? They show Queen Helen , Charulata and Mahamatya Khallatak constantly plotting against the king and Ashok while there is no historical proof of it. They also added a bunch of people who never existed like Mir Khorasan and Rani Noor.
The only good thing about these shows is hot women acting in them but they manage to ruin that too by making them make shitty facial expressions and mope all the time. And that reminds me of abject misogyny in these shows but that's a tale for another time.
