The actor opts out of Mohit Suri's next directorial, a screen adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat novel

Mirror (November 7) was the first to report that Sushant Singh Rajput has been signed to play the male lead in Mohit Suri's next, an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's best selling novel, Half Girlfriend. The 29-year-old actor had dropped at the director's resi dence and impressed Mohit by enacting one of the scenes from the book. "He was brilliant and added his own dimensions to the character," Mohit had admitted.

However, Sushant has since opted out of the film."It's unfortunate. I was excited about working with Ekta (Kapoor) again but the dates didn't work out. The team wanted the same dates as that of Dinu's (Dinesh Vijan) film, which I'm doing next.Since I had committed dates for it long ago, I didn't have an option but to pull out of Mohit's project," he informed Mirror. Vijan's love story was earlier supposed to feature Sushant and Alia Bhatt. But the actress opted for Shhuddhi over this film.When asked who would replace her, Sushant said, (Mirror, September 14), "That's not my job to know, I don't sign a film on the basis of the heroine. For me the script is the priority, followed by my equation with the director and the pay cheque.In this case, I don't think the script has changed or I would have known." The hunt has now stopped at Kriti Sanon.

Meanwhile, Mirror has learnt that Arjun Kapoor who has earlier worked in the Hindi adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's 2 States has been approached for the role. "The script has been shared with him," informs a source.
