This update is dedicated to .LadyHitler. (Nisha) because it was her birthday. 🤗
And to Lecuarshi (My missy Lechu) for providing the perfect summary of this story in just two lines and also for making me laugh.
And to Sasir ( For actually giving a thought to the story)

Chapter Two

Many a times in our lives the kinds of moments passes by upon which when we reflect from the future we dwell in we feel a pain that fails to be compared even with the darkest of pains... and regret... and torture... and a want of destroying ourselves so that we could repent on what we did unknowingly and in a flash of blinding agony.

When Arnav Singh Raizada, in a similar condition, climbed down the stairs he did not know why he did all that. When he actually reflected upon his doings all he knew now was that he had been a beast of the deadliest and cruelest kind. He had committed a sin that could not be forgiven. So what if Khushi did all that, he still had no right of strewing her self esteem from her. To force a girl and rip her of her virtue was something that disgusted him, something he considered a crime. And to think he had done the very same with the girl he had started to love.. Love? Did he really love her? Had he actually loved her he wouldn't have given her the pain that had no balm... no medicine.

Seeing him now, who would believe he was the same man who was the head of the NGO that worked for women. Women that had been tortured, assaulted, raped or attacked by their own family or some outsider. His NGO worked day in and day out to provide justice to those women and the whole of Delhi knew his NGO rarely failed on the causes.
So what was his verdict now in the NGO he operated?

He had destroyed her life, a girl who had left everything behind for a pact that was sealed decades ago. A marriage which, in the eye of the present laws, would have held no importance when dealt with fairly and strongly.

He was a monster that had no right to live now. How would he ever live with the print of something he had done in fury? His anger had costed him everything today. A part of him still reviled the girl who laid lifeless in the room for what she had done but the better part of him was dying inside. He had wanted to comfort her, to beg for forgiveness once he had realized the nature of his act but his heart had constricted back and his mind had forced him to walk out of the room leaving her behind. The memory of the last tear that had worked its way down her face still fresh in his mind.

He wanted to run. Run away from everything. From her from himself. From the world. and that's what he did. He ran away from the house. Away from the people who loved him and trusted him.

As her eyes stared on the ceiling above she tried to work out the color of the wall. Was it red? or Black? Maybe it was Red. But then she didn't remember the ceiling being red. Why couldn't she remember what was the color of the ceiling?

Brushing the color discernment exercise in her mind she tried to listen to her heartbeats. Why couldn't she hear her own heartbeats? Had she died?

Funny much, Gupta she thought as she tried to giggle but no sound came out. She couldn't even move her jaw muscles. What in the name of Mother Earth was wrong with her?

Why couldn't she move? Why did she hurt all over? Why she had this pain in her heart? Why?!

She heard a familiar voice then, someone maybe calling out her name.
"Khushi! Khushi!" Someone yelled. Who was she?

"Nani dekhen na Khushi ko kya hogaya. Ye kuch bol kyun nahi rahe hain? Hey Bhagwan!" (Nani see what has happened to Khushi. Why isn't she saying something? Oh God!"

What has happened to her? Why was that voice crying and calling out to God?

"Meri Bachi!" She heard another panic stricken voice as two arms tried to embrace her.

Fear. She felt a kind of fear she was accustomed to but a fear that was much more strengthened than her previous fears. She wanted to shrug those hands off. Her breath faltered as her limbs stayed frozen in time.

"Hume sharm arahe hai uss aadmi ko apna bhai kehte hue. Chi!" (I am feeling ashamed of calling that man my brother. Disgusting!"

"Anjali bitiya Chotey aisa kaise karat sake hain?" (How can chotey do something like this?)

"Mar gaya Chotey nani! Wo hamare liye sirf ek jallad hai ek jallad jiska koi deen koi emaan nahi. Jo apno se nibah nahi kar saka. Wo ek khokhla insaan hai." (Arnav is dead, Nani! He is only a brute to me, an animal who has no religion and no belief. Who failed to live up to his relations. He is a hollow man."

"Anjali bitiya app."

"Theek keh rahi hun nani. Mai nafrat karti hun Arnav se." (I am right, Nani. I hate Arnav)

Arnav Arnav Arnav!
raucous voices shouted in her mind at once as millions of thorns pricked in her heart and then she blacked out.

"How dare you enter this house?" He heard his Di shout, a shout so high-pitched and resonating he hadn't ever heard before.

"This is my home Di." He replied, somehow unable to look her in the eyes.

"I am not your DI! Your Di is dead!" He jerked up his head then to look her in the eyes and what he saw there made him weak in the knees. If not for the support of the sofa that was placed adjacent to him he would have fallen down on the floor right there and then.
Wasn't he a human too to feel pain and agony? Couldn't he get weak?

In her eyes all he could witness was hate. Hate for the brother she had loved more than dear life.

"I hate you Arnav!" She spat out as Nani sniffed nearby continuously crying.

"Aisa mat kaho, Di." he whispered. (Don't say like this, Di)

"Kaha na mjhe Di mat Kaho!" (Didn't I say not to call me Di)

"Meri baat to suno, Di.." (Listen to me, Di..)

"What should I listen to Arnav? What excuse do you have for justifying what you did to that girl who is lying upstairs. Lifeless! You killed her Arnav. Till date she was living in torture. Agony of what could have happened to her and today the man she trusted. The man she gave her whole life to made those nightmares come true!"

"What do you mean, Di? I know what I did has no justification. But I saw the pictures and.."

"Which pictures?!" She shouted as she threw the bundle on his face. He shook as the photographs went flying around him finally dropping to the floor. So many of them. Each from different angle. Each capturing a different moment. Khushi clinging to that man.

He closed his eyes in sheer torture.

"Why do you close your eyes now, Arnav? See these pictures. You trusted these pictures over her. You did not let her justify! If you had Arnav none of this would have happened. She wouldn't have been in the condition she is now." With the she broke down, sliding to the floor. Her cries fell on his ears and slashed his heart.

He crouched down on the floor to where she sat, broken because of the deed of a brother she had been so proud of. Till few hours ago her Chotey was the bravest man of Earth with the purest heart and now her Chotey was the worst kind of man she had ever came across.

As he tried to take her hands in his she pushed him away.

"Don't touch me! You disgust me, Arnav! I hate you!"

He fell back on the floor, shattered. All his pretense of being the most daring and feared off man of the country broke into million of pieces. On the floor in those moments was a fallen warrior. A warrior who had transformed into a beast.

He tried to say something with his hoarse voice to justify even a bit of what he had done.

"I was just so angry, Di. Seeing her with some other man. I loved her."

"You loved her?!" She gasped.

"Yes, Di. Somehow she succeeded in luring me in her charm with her naive ways. She appeared so innocent to me and so lost. Like a moon lost in the infinite skies. Alone and Beautiful." He continued to speak unmindful of the situation and his surroundings.

"Bus Arnav Bus." Anjali yelled, covering her ears. "Mujhe khud se aur nafrat mak karwao." (Enough, Arnav! Don't make me hate you more.)

"What did you say? You loved her? How can you insult a word so pure? What you felt for her was neither love nor sympathy. It was lust. Just Lust. What you did today proved it."

"No Di. I never lusted after her. I told you it was just.."

"The photographs." She completed as she stood up.

"Yes." he answered picking himself from the floor.

"But trust me, Di. It was in my anger. I wouldn't have done something so revolting otherwise."

"Otherwise?" Anjali snorted. "What you did has no space for words like otherwise. Are you really the man I once respected and loved? 28 years! How did I not see your real face in all these years? If I had perceived the real you none of this would have happened. I am the one to be blamed. I should have known my fears regarding your anger were nothing but true. "

"No! Don't blame yourself! Please Di don't." He begged.

"Get lost from here, Arnav. None of us needs a man like you. You are as good as dead." She spoke out in a a pained voice.

"I will not go anywhere! Its all because of that girl! The chit of a girl who deceived me."

"Deceived you?! What the hell do you know about that chit of a girl. You know nothing! Listen to me now! That girl... What will she deceive you? She is deceived by fate and destiny herself. First by what happened with her and second by being forced to marry a man like you. The pictures you saw show nothing but the truth but a truth you perceived the wrong way and destroyed everything. Two years ago Khushi was almost raped. Her college friend somehow saved her. She was broken and scared to death and found comfort in that man like every other girl would have. A minute late and she would have lost everything! Its ironical Arnav how you even after being her husband stripped her off everything. Every hope, every wish, every dream.
She was saved 2 years ago only to be conquered today at your hands. She lived in torture these years. Succumbed herself in a shell. She told me and Nani everything! She wanted to tell you everything but we stopped her. we wanted her to adjust in this home first, discover her relation with you. How wrong we were?! I see now its as much our fault as it is yours. You... Why did you do this Arnav, Why? Why with the girl who had started to build dreams of a future with you? Why with a girl who was already shattered from the inside? Why?"

Could something be so painful yet numbing at the same time? That man did not know as he moved forward and upstairs in a trance. His ears deaf for the shouts that echoed behind him. His sister's yelling and his nani's shouty crying did not matter to him. Not now.

For now something wholly different mattered. For now the girl mattered who was as good as dead now.

As he made out his weak form tucked under the blankets his breathing hitched in his throat. He felt he could die of short breath. Wasn't this what he wanted? To die? How would he ever be able to show his face to the girl he claimed to love and the girl who he had killed with his own hands?

His Di was right. He was as good as dead. The world had no need of a man like him.

When he knelt beside her after hours of watching her by the door he suddenly did not want to die.

Repentance. Redemption. Forgiveness was what he wanted.

Above all he wanted to revive the girl who lied on the bed. Broken. Shattered and Lifeless.

All because of his one single mistake.

All because of his Betrayal.

P.S: If there are any new readers which I am highly doubtful of please buddy me for PMs. 😆😆😆

Felt bad for Khushi. She is punished for no fault of hers. Arnav's anger is his first enemy.
Waiting to see how Arnav redeem himself and bring back Khushi from the pain she is in.

If she was trying to work on their marriage then trust is the most important factor in a marriage along with love
Waiting to know how the story unfolds
