Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap says his film Bombay Velvet was probably "the biggest loss making movie" in the history of cinema and the burden of the failure of his dream movie will always haunt him.

The big-budget period film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, opened to mixed to negative reception and was also panned for its faltered storytelling.

Kashyap, 43, says he is glad that a big studio decided to back his vision but the feeling that he could not recover the cost of the making of the film weighs him down.

"People have gone to fund my dream, which was unreasonable to begin with. Just because I have a dream to do something for 10 years does not mean that somebody is obliged to do it. They buy into your idea, they buy into your dream. It was like a Rs 90 crore art film. For me the burden of that money lost is going to be there for a long time," Kashyap said in an interview on the sidelines of NFDC Film Bazaar.

The 43-year-old Gangs of Wasseypur filmmaker says for him money is the biggest nightmare and after the debacle of Bombay Velvet he has learnt his lesson and will not venture into making such a big-budget movie ever again.

"Money is the biggest nightmare. So, I say that the more you minimise the cost of the film, it works. I just did an expensive film which probably is the biggest loss making movie in the history of cinema. The nightmare that I go through no one can understand. So, that is something I don't want to do ever again. It teaches you a lesson.

"I will make films with studios. But not massive budget ones as I don't want anyone to lose so much money. I'd rather make a very controlled budget film for a studio."

When asked if it is the safest thing to be the writer, director and producer of a film, he says, "Yes absolutely,I like to control my film. I don't want anyone else to do it." Kahsyap revealed he has just finished shooting his next film but was evasive about details.

"I just finished shooting my next film and have also begun writing another. I have decided I will not talk about my films. People will get to know when it releases."
