The Drift
Part b
Next evening, Tara and Mrityunjay both left together for the party. Mrityunjay was driving the car. There was a complete silence in the car. Tara was watching Mrityunjay and thought,
"Did I lose my friend too? Say something Mrityunjay ...this silence is killing me."
But Mrityunjay didn't speak a word. Even though there was ample amount of thoughts in his mind but on his face there was a clear silence and a sign of his inner turmoil.
They reached the party. Tara for the sake of formality was smiling. Mrityunjay was sitting with Yug, Nandini, Meethi, Bunty and Vasu. One by one the performances were presented but none of them cheered Tara.
"Now the most awaited performance of the evening dedicated to those who wanted to say to their sweet hearts their feelings but have kept it buried in their hearts, by Adi and Yug on the guitar." The anchor announced.
~Dard dilon ke kam ho jaate
Main aur Tum agar hum ho jaate
Kitne haseen aalam ho jaate
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jate~
Tara's eyes filled with tears hearing this. This song was perfectly speaking Tara's heart's pain. Four days ago life was a beautiful reality for her with Mrityunjay but now she didn't know what happened that her Mrityunjay was away from her.
~Tere bina na aaye sukoon
Naa aaye qaraar mujhe
Door wo saare bharam ho jaate
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jate~
She saw Mrityunjay whose eyes were silent but for Tara it was not silent, it was a sign of his inner turmoil. Her Mrityunjay was not sharing his pain with her, which was more painful for her.
~Ishq adhoora duniya adhoori
Khwahish meri kardo na poori~
"Mrityunjay I just wanted you from this life, nothing else and you are away from me."
~Dil toh yehi chaahe
Tera aur Mera ho jaaye muqammal ye afsaana~
"I wish you would share your pain with me Mrityunjay. I wanted to be a part of your pain but you have made me a stranger."
~Har mushqil aasaan ho jaati
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jate~
A tear skipped her eyes.
~Kitne haseen aalam ho jaate
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jaate~
She saw Mrityunjay who was talking on the phone and walking towards her.
"Did my wish get granted?"
thought Tara seeing Mrityunjay coming towards her.
"Tara, I have an important meeting now, so we need to leave now."
~Baki nahi kuch par dil na maane
Dil ki baate dil hi jaane~
Hearing Mrityunjay words, once again Tara's hope wore out, her heart wrenched for making a false hope which was never going to be fulfilled.
~Hum dono kahin pe mil jaayenge ik din
Inn ummeedon pe hi main hoon zinda~
"But I still wish Mrityunjay if I ever get your love in life I will feel myself the luckiest person on Earth."
~Har manzil haasil ho jaati
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jate~
"Oh...Tara, why do you have so much faith in me?"
Mrityunjay heart wrenched seeing hopes for him in her eyes.
~Kitne haseen aalam ho jaate
Main aur Tum gar Hum ho jaate~
They quietly walked out of the party.
After leaving Tara outside the Shekhawat mansion, Mrityunjay went to the office.
Tara was walking lost in her thoughts and walked till Mrityunjay's study and entered it. After entering, when she switched on the light, she found herself in his study. She was going out of the study when her eyes caught a sketch which had fallen near the table. She went there and picked it up. It was her sketch when she was sleeping. She was stunned to see her sketch.
"When did Mrityunjay do this?"
She started searching his study to see whether there were more sketches of her. When she opened the table's drawers, she was surprised to see a drawer full of her sketches. Her horse riding sketch, as a bride after their second wedding, her smiling sketch which he sketched after their first marriage, and many more. Her eyes cried with happiness seeing them.
"Mrityunjay ...you love me so much... Then why do you behave like this?"
she wiped her tears.
"Today I will get all my answers."
She sat there watching her sketches.
"I was never so beautiful Mrityunjay, the way you have sketched me beautifully."
