Well when the british left monarchy failed becoz kings and queen were so narcissistic and obssesssed in their own lives people were fed up...
I am a sucker for love stories...mills and boon work for me...but even mills and boon havecharacters doing something inbetween the romance...even if.indravadan is switched to a jameendar today the stort will not feel out of place...he is a king and hardly does anything for people oreven meet people... if he was shown more as a king and if he had fallen for gayatri seeing how worthy of queen she is it would have been nice... zee seems to be in a hurry to finish the story...raga in love so soon?

I understand this is a love story and king queen and pre independence era is just a backdrop...but why choose such a thing if they dont want to use it...pre independence period was not a good time for monarchy...they were crushed by british and hardly had powers...ranaji should have been shown struggling to serve his people in such scenario...

It would have been great if ranaji was a king and gayatri was a freedom fighter and inspite of their different ideologies they fall in love... i am so Dissapointed that the creatives did not use theirunique backdrop differently. Ranaji being a king helps in showing a palace all the time as set. Their ends the rajarani theme.

I feel more bad for siddharth. ...he has to play such a boring pointless and lifeless character who has no job other than looking good... the women around him control his personal and kingly ( even the little ones they show)duties. I loved him in pkyek.. he was so good and charismatic that he even surpassed the leads at times...but here he isnothing but a poster...poor drashti must be sick andtired playing such roles too...why can't they give hera role with some meat in it? I dont blame the actors inchoosing the drama because in hkndi television t he story intended in never continued...everything change based on trp... generally as per hindi tellyland rulethe story changes after 8 to 9 months atleast till then its ontrack. Here everything is changing so fast tv that its loosing its steam...

Sorry for the rant.

I agree I think they need to show him being a King to his people once in a while even if it's just small issues he addresses that could be another avenue for some nice storylines that don't have to be centre stage but will certainly grab viewers.
I'm waiting for a storyline where they show him helping his people but the start has to be by getting justice for the goings on in his Family and by that I mean swarna but even then let's have some Rana related scenes.

i agree abt the king not showing kingly quality ...but in promo also they showcased love story amid conspiracy ...so they are focusing that only politics and conspiracy ... Again indian TV runs with TRPS...aunties love internal politics than what happened in india ...but i hope after this BRM Track they will focus on Amerkot people and wilkinson also RAGA separtion

Agree completely...what was the point of making him King if all he is going to do is look helplessly from one woman to another...

The USP of the show is the royal backdrop...and a strong, virtuous King who cares for his people..

Otherwise, none of the other ingredients are new or fresh...we have feisty, self righteous FLs in evey show...and evil vamps too...

If they compromise on the very ingredient that made them stand apart, they would be reduced to being like any other show on air...

I guess they don't want more than that!

Your totally right!
He just needs to experience more battles in life. But there are some things we need to weigh along with this problem:

He is not even aware someone is trying to get rid of him. Only RM and Gayatri seem to know everything these days. Where is his instinct?

He got it down being a husband though. No problems there. And he is glued to Gayatri. But that is the only good news since Gayatri is not his enemy and basically his only friend. Gayatri is taking over from the point where Sula ended up dying. It took her some time to reach his heart, but i think the writers now have given her the power to guide him where she can.

But i will say that his family is dysfunctional, so his attachment to Gayatri is logical. Gayatri is really close with her own family.
Ranaji however just lives with his family because they are there i guess. And ever since Gayatri came to the palace, everybody's claws are coming out. They just don't want him to grow as a person and King. Especially BRM has worked hard for that.

The one person he adores is the one that wants to kill him. I mean that has to be hard to even digest the thought. So the main problem here is that when 80% of his own family doesn't truly care, why would he care?

I also agree that the backdrop of pre independence India is not being effectively used. They showed at the start how Ranaji was frustrated with the British interference in everything and how he put a stop to some lake water being taxed. But other than that, they have not shown much more other than Wilkinson's antics!

I seriously hope they make better used of the era and the backdrop to their advantage and not spend ALL their time on fake Sauten drama's and kitchen politics of the Royal family! No matter how strong a male lead starts off in an Indian drama, they just cant help but turn him into a prop at a later date and give women all the brains and the power!

Nice post. I watched this soap because of the era. I thought it would a good story. I must say that it started off pretty well, but now the script has gone south. Creatives hav tried to cater to the TRP audience and compromised heavily. Its not too late to come back to the original story, but when is the question. I hope it doesn't happen too late and the Channel takes this soap off its platter...

Agree with you.

They changed this to a costume drama and dropped the turbulent times they've chosen to set this story in.
I still can't get over the way they wrapped up the revolutionists' story.
The King has become another ML who doesn't go to work after getting married😆
The Queen does kitchen and looks lot modern than some of our other bahus.

Agree!
When trps went up the storyline went south.
They can still recover if they like and make this show different and more appealing. LetS see.
I totally agree regarding Ra character. They've turned a king into a brainless poster boy. There could be so much more to this character. Take yesterday for example. Ga realized how did BRM know about explosion...but Ra totally missed it...I mean really??? Do they need to show him so so dense? ?? I get they want to show that he is soo clouded by BRM...but come on. ..be a little realistic here. It should have been him who questioned BRM and not Ga. They have to give his character some substance else the trps will drop just as fast as they climbed!
