Its almost 3 weeks that the show is on air and with each episode, the revelations, the relationship dynamics , the conflicts of ideas and emotions make us intrigrued and shell shocked at times. A show which was promised to be a romance between a couple rediscovering love again in a marriage, seems to be much more deeper, darker, passionate and convoluted in terms of content. Each episode brings something on the table that speaks about human emotions which is raw, unstructured and stratified. Moreover the concept of humanity vs inhumanity and a constant struggle to make a choice between right and wrong makes it unusual, uncomfortable , edgy. The character sketch of the male protagonist and the dark past of the female protagonist make this content more complicated as a tale of love than it seems on the surface. Most of the audience absolutely love romantic sagas, and those love story angle helps the show to sail through. But in this show, there is lot more on the platter than just a single factor like romance. Its more of exploration of human psyche, its emotions. Ishreet is surely a major point of attraction, but is it the only one? Or Rizwan's conflicted soul, Preet's insecurities and trying to overcome those traumatic memories and the anticipation of how the truth would affect these two and the whole set up of perfect life make it more interesting? As another member Jane mentioned in one of her posts- the real angst is yet to be portraued, another facet is yet to unravel. So what keeps you glued? What does pyar ko ho jane do mean to you in a nutshell?

Do share your thoughts. Posting this as it really got me thinking-what we are looking at while watching the show.

I started watching the show for Iqbal. He is the only thing that attracted me to this show. I have loved Iqbal since he used to Play Angad Khanaa, i absouletely used to love him, but after Shiv Kapoor, i was literally the 24 hour non stop drool worthy fan girl! I used to watch Karm Apna Apna like there was no tommorow and my heart was broken when he left the show 😭, couldnt tolerate yash tonk on his place and never saw the show aagin.

Anways, when i saw the promos of PKHJD i was on the 9th cloud! So i started watching like mere a fan girl of Iqbal but today so many other reasons are attached. The fast pace the innovative story line, the brilliant acting and ofc Mona. But still Iqbal remains the core reason! 😳

As for the story, i am treating it as a dark love story amidst the shiny and happy family. Its a completely new dynamics. Normally dark characters accept it, like Sujal, he stayed quiet and distant but here we have a family man who has a dark past and a family woman with a dark past! Loved the treatment! The juxtaposition of brightness and darkness. And also the emotional pagalpan of Rizwaan.

Awesome post once again Patel...
Got interested in the show because of Iqbal...and Mona too...as I love love love love Iqbal from his first show...

The show truly is more then what they said and gave out...In a nutshell its about Love Conquering all...Its about Love bring the Winner...

Love over hatred...over our pride...ovrr our prejudices...over our misconceptions...insecurities...fears...beliefs...

Its about Letting Go of all of the above and giving love a chance and letting it happen...

Its about accepting a person for who they are as a Human being then because of his caste creed religion nation being same as yours...its about Being Good Humans...its about Humanity ...its about letting Love be ones Judging criteria ...as The show tagline says "Let Love be your Religion"

In this show its in regards to Rizwan letting go of his hatered...his misconceptions about the country and the letting go of the tragic past that had made him what he is today...of letting go of hid and letting love in...

For Preet too...its letting go of her deep rooted hatered for the other country people for the tragedy in her life...its letting go of her fears... insecurities...her past and letting love in...

Its about both if them letting Love Conqure them then Hate..

Uff...me and my ramblings ...

Payal your posts intrigue me.
Coming to this serial was only due to Iqbal and honestly, I decided to quit watching it with first episode as I thought it to be same extramarital saga but accidently saw few scenes later of Ishaan's identity being revealed and I couldn't tear myself apart since then.
And now.. This story is much more than a love story. While you watch the episode, there is an uncanny feeling because we know this is not the beginning, the main plot will begin with identity revelation where heartbreaks are bound to happen. There are beautiful scenes between Ishaan Preet but after each of them, i am left thinking that will i get similar scenes between Rizwaan- Preet ?
What makes this story interesting for me is the way leads are portrayed. Its like one knows that something horrendous is going to happen yet one tries to comfort themselves with excuse of living in present than worrying about future. For instance, Rizwaan knows what the future beholds for him yet he consoles himself with the superficial identity of Ishaan. Preet gets uncomfortable with Ishaan's reaction to being "Not Ishaan" yet she gets past it by considering it just a joke. Human reactions !

Its not exactly a romantic tale, because in some stories you can predict the future with a happy insight, but here i am not sure whether there will be a happy ending or not.
:)

Again a brilliant post.👏
Indeed this show is much more than a love saga. It in fact is a story of human emotions, primarily love; love between a brother and a sister, love between a son and his parents, love between two lovers. I am just gonna write a few lines on what I personally feel of the story..please bear with my ramblings😆

It is a story of a little orphaned boy named Rizwan who is forced to do what he is doing at the moment cause he wants to avenge the death of his parents. The fact that he was deprived of 'love' in his childhood and was orphaned is what compels him and acts as a driving force for his anger and revenge.
It is also the story of 'love' that Ishaan Rizwan Hooda has received from his extended family I.e the Hoodas. The affection of a mother, the trust of a brother and the love of a sister are what he had always longed for, hence no matter how much he wants to take his 'badla' from 'hindustan' , he just cannot afford to harm them even a wee bit. Cause these people have grown to be the reason of his existence subconsciously in these four years. Whether he accepts or not.
It is also the 'love' story of a father and his daughter. An example of pure unadulterated love. A father and daughter who have no biological connection, yet have grown a relationship much stronger than that is what this story is about.
It is also the 'love' story of two individuals with a scarred past coming together to discover solace in each other's company.. It is a story of these two individuals growing into each other's soulmates, slowly and steadily.
And, last but not the least it is also the story of 'love' that we have for our country, the country which is no less than a protective guardian for all of us. A country that belongs to us, a country that defines our roots and existence.
Hence the story is about love in totality. Love of all kinds. For love is love and we can't compartmentalize the emotion. It's an abstract feeling which just needs to be felt.

The reason why I started watching the show was Iqbal..I have always watched all his shows but I can bet that this is by far his best work in terms of character portayal. He is phenomenal. Hats off to him.👏
But now, I'm badly hooked to the show. Cause of its story, its characters. Way to go PKHJD!😳👏

@bold: Can I say that I loved Shiv Kapoor so much so that I actually had to put up with the show just to get a glimpse of that man?😳
Shiv n Gauri and those unsaid words and the eyelocks. Aaah😳
I would say after Ishaan, its Shiv , Anshuman and then Angad for me.😃
Ishaan Hooda is one heck of a desirable guy.. His vulnerabilities, his sensibilities, his heart is what makes him so so desirable.❤️

Yes, Ishaan' hard exterior and a vulnerable heart is what pulls u like a magnet towards him. He is confused and stuck! Helpless and you ache to help him! To ease his pain! Ahh .. for me too .. Ishaan .. Shiv and then Angad! .. i didnt know abt tunhari pakhi until it finished so never saw it 😭 .. okay now Shiv kapor fan girl talk please! 😳

Ahhh please please you can say! Ahhh i used to love SHIV KAPOOR! I always used to find angad sweet and cute, totally adorable but Shiv Kapoor told me what real HOTNESS meant! 😳 MIK was just too awesome in it and Gauri complimented him. The silent eyelocks! The helpless raging Shiv and the quiet Gauri! Those 80 episodes where MIK was Shiv are a classic! And the writers were also awesome! I still remember that scene where Shiv saves Gauri's father's life and she says to him,

'ap ne mujhe bht dukh diye hain .. bht rulaya hai .. lekin jab khushi di hai tu behisaab di hai .. kabhi kabhi sochti hn apk diye hoye dukh zyada ache hain .. ku k apki di hui khushi mujh se sanbhalti nai hai' .. ahhh sighsss!

And then she looks at Shiv all awestruck and asks

Kaise insaan hain ap?

And MIK answers in all his intense voice,

Bht mamooli sa!

Ahhh! Sorry for the rambling! Fan girl resurfacing! 😳

@kinza, lovely post as usual. I guess we all staryed watching it for the leads and then just got blown away by the concept and the character sketches. As if Rizwan 's identity was not enough to create shock value, preet past just made us speechless. When you say its dark love story, my heart goes garden garden, as it sounds so my type of genre and it gives lot of adrenalin rush moments. Edgy yet irresistable. Sperlative performances are the herries on top.

@kubare, what shoukd I call you dear? I loved how you explained the content in a nutshell. Yes its about letting go and love taking its deserved place to free all these imprisoned souls haunted by past memories and its baggage. Please continue your ramblings, its worth reading.

@Ruchi, yes the character sketches and the unpredictability factor makes it interesting. Moreover there is always an undercurrent of uncertainty about Rizwan's feelings, his motives and the anticipation regarding Preet's reaction knowing his truth.we all can assume that it will be one violent, passionate, heart breaking moment of revelation.but still its difficult to gauge how these two protagonists would behave in those moments of showdown. Plus knowing the acting caliber of these talented actors, I just cant wait for the d-day. Prior to that, lets enjoy the roller coaster. Thanks for liking the post.

@Sohu, lovely post. Loved how you described love in its different forms and how it is difficult to compartmentalise the emotions. Its a voyage of human emotions, in carious forms, shape, dimensions, exploring few uncomfortable yet socially relevant questions. And Iqbal was and still is the most imp key factor to watch that. No doubts about that.

@ divya, yes its just not another regular love story andthat makes it unusual, and more importantly both leads characters have been given importance while keeping their basic traits and circumstances alike- they are distant, different yet simliar. It will help them to bridge the gap somewhere.

@kinza and Sohu, stop reminding me about Shiv Gauri so much. Its not fair. 😆

@ all, thanks for all the responses. Waiting to know others thoughts too.

Ok so my take on this is rather biased / opinion based
Considering how Sweetly the religion issue with Trisha & Bilal's storyline was handled I have a feeling the family may overlook the whole issue once the truth of Rizwaan is out.. I want to believe that he will have a change of heart, He as it is is unable to do much... Surely the 5 odd years and the back story will change his heart

I believe in that...

He got back a semblance of family hence the conflicting emotions..

This man will realize soon enough that family is not just by vengeance but by care & love
