After weeks of turning pages of books, some more books and a few more books and then a few more, I finally got a while week free to finish all my reading! 🥳

Okay, now I could have used GIFs but sadly, I am using my feel phone and I hate to do all that with with compact keyboard 🥱 So, you'll have to compromise with some sweet comments! 😳

One, date that is! What was it? Really! 😲 Basically, it was romantic as it had to be about ArDi but past that I could see nothing but true passion.I loved the way Arjun was being the perfect guy with perfect sense for setting a perfect date for the perfect lady. Well, quite a lot of perfection for me today! 😆

Next, hmmm what should that be. Is that office romance? Yes it is! Looky look! They are going all around the office doing surprisingly good deeds for the merger and yet finding to me to ahmmm.. *kiss* 😉

And finally, post the ten days leap! I think we have reached quite far here. Like, they have started understanding each other, it will definitely be quite easy to be amm... up at the night. 😆 The sari thing, was cute. I love how is challenged her. Draupadi is definitely going to have a difficult time while trying to control Arjun.

The scenes setting and writing perfectly fits for a couple like ShaJa! They are perfection and so is this story.

Chapter 12 - Our Nighttime Adventures

A dark figure climbed the two steps amidst the creepers, careful not to run into the bamboo chairs and table kept in the middle. Slowly, the sound of creaking glass pierced through the air, and the figure stilled, his broad shoulders tightening, as the man swallowed several times. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead and he cautiously looked around and then pulled the glass shutter, this time more careful. Swiftly, he jumped onto the other side, and shut the floor to ceiling glass.

Tip-toeing towards the door, he tried to turn the handle, and it seemed as if luck was on his side, as it opened smoothly, while the wind chime clinked as a sudden gust of wind hit him right in the face. The chill had started to set in the capital city.

As he had expected, no one was in the room, but to his surprise, the lights weren't switched off. Instead, almost all the lights had brightened up his familiar surroundings unlike in the James Bond movies and the other films he had seen, where a character similar to him would enter into a dark room, only a single ray of the moonlight falling into the space, which would be covered by the shadow of that man himself.

Shaking those thoughts out of his head, his eyes caught sight of a corner where black bottles stocked up with fairy lights of different colours stood just near the work space carved in a wall and he was about to advance towards the new development in the familiar room, when he heard the knob of a door turning. Frantically, he looked around for someplace to hide, and just as the other door opened slightly, he rushed inside where the first door opened into, shutting it with a thud.

Draupadi had been out for the major part of the day, handling the last arrangements, sending teams under Malini till she flew out herself for where the wedding was supposed to take place. Since it would be a destination wedding, everyone would be flown down to Udaipur, the city of lakes, where a five star hotel had been booked for a full week of celebration. Arjun and she had to leave early, the next morning in order to make sure everything was properly arranged before they started welcoming the guests while Bheem and Dhri would be making sure that everything was over with in Delhi and bringing along the family.

The weekend had passed rather quickly, amongst calming Shikha who had been having pre-wedding jitters, and making sure that all the decoration items and outfits were properly transported to Udaipur in care of the team she had appointed. It had been a rather tiring day, and she had returned home absolutely exhausted. It would be dinner time soon and she knew that only a long, warm bath could calm her nerves. Also, not having seen Arjun since morning had added to her already bitter mood, and she couldn't stop herself from snapping at Dhri, who understood her plight very well for he too had been roaming around all day long. Thinking about Arjun reminded her how after the text message three days ago, she had anticipated his arrival into her room, but each day he had only wished her good night in the corridor, yawned and stalked off towards his room which was right next to hers.

'Maybe he had forgotten about the bet after all.'

'Are you crazy, lady?'

'Huh?'

'Well, you know right that guy would never forget anything. Exert your mind; his week can start whenever he wants it to. Plus, you two will be alone in Udaipur for two days. *wink* *wink*'

'Oh, you gutter mind. Shut up! Nothing is going to happen.'

'Don't you blame me, miss cranky. I am a part of your brain.'

'Whatever. But why would he ignore me?'

'What do I do with your pea-brain? Sometimes I am rather shocked I am a part of your brain and that you are supposed to be a businesswoman. Haven't you heard, distance makes the heart grow fonder? The guy just wants to ignite the passion you two share, he is smart, my choice after all. You should look at yourself when you two kiss, the electrifying touch, heat flowing from one body to another as you two come closer, so much into...'

'*Cough* *Cough*Shut up!'

Draupadi hadn't realised that she had actually coughed; making everyone look at her questioningly and she cringed at her own wanton thoughts, her cheeks turning hot. 'She needed a cold shower now,' she decided, to wash off the brazen part of her mind.

As soon as she walked into the room, she thought she heard another sound other than the creaking of the door and looked around, alertly as she switched on the lights, but on finding nothing she pushed the thought away as a figment of her imagination and placing her handbag onto her desk, she scurried off to the bathroom.

Her clothes pooled around her feet, and she pulled the knob, sticking out her hand first to check the temperature. As she entered the glass cabin, warm water trickled down her frame, dampening her hair, water drops accumulating on her entire body while her muscles relaxed against the rapid spray of water. Even after the foam from the shower gel had been washed off, filling the area with a strong perfumed smell, she stood under the shower for a few minutes, longer than usual, letting the water flow on her. She closed her eyes, taking in the smell of strawberries, feeling the warmth of the water and suddenly the atmosphere changed.

A man and a woman, an ancient setting, both locked in a passionate embrace. This time, they were in a pool of water, rose petals floating around them. The man swept his hand over the woman's bare waist, making goosebumps erupt on her skin, and she flinched as her eyes closed shut, her skin flushed with the contact. The woman clutched his shoulders for support as he leaned in, his lips only inches apart from her own.

Their faces were still blurred and Draupadi pressed her eyes tightly, trying to concentrate, wanting to see their faces.

And then suddenly, it seemed as if the two of them looked her way. It was Arjun and her!

Draupadi gasped for air as she opened her eyes, breathing heavily, feeling hot even under the flowing water, which had now turned cold. Turning off the shower, she stepped out, trying to shake the images out of her head. She absentmindedly reached for her clothes, only to realise that she had forgotten to pick them up from the closet in her haste. Sighing, she put on a bathrobe, and opened the bathroom door, walking out while towel drying her hair.

As she opened the door to the closet, little did she know that the unexpected awaited her. Draupadi walked in causally, her eyes fixed onto the spot where she usually kept her night clothes. She didn't even notice that the lights of the two-storey space were already switched on, but suddenly her humming stopped as she felt someone else inside too, and as she turned around to scan her surroundings, a hand came crashing down to her mouth, blocking the gasp that was on the back of her throat. Panic set in, and Draupadi wriggled in the person's tight hold as he caged her between the wall and his sturdy frame, not caring to look anywhere, as her mind stopped working momentarily and after a long struggle she finally looked up towards the man's face, on the verge of giving up, only his eyes visible through the holes of the black monkey cap.

Draupadi took a closer look and the panic vanished as suddenly as it had crept in, the eyes seeming more familiar than ever, she recognised the hazel orbs instantly, which were now twinkling as the bright light fell on them. She could tell that the man was smiling behind the mask, and taken aback, she lifted her hand and swiftly pulled off the mask, the man's hold now loosening over her mouth. Her eyes widened in a mix of shock and confusion and she simultaneously released the breath she hadn't even realised she had been holding, her palms pressed to his shoulders.

As she saw him smile idiotically at her, she grew irritated and widened her eyes, motioning for him to remove his hand off her face. Laughing, he did what he was 'ordered' to, "Arjun! You?"

"Yes baby, it is me, indeed", Arjun replied as his eyes lit up with amusement.

"Not funny. Why do you always have to scare me, and corner me like this?"

"Well, that isn't on purpose, you know. But I had warned you about the night adventures", he winked at her.

"Yeah, whatever. But you have been ignoring me these past days."

Draupadi pushed his arms off her waist and started marching towards the platform that led to the staircase, letting out a mock huff. She had expected him to twirl her around, straight into his arms just like he always did, but when that didn't happen she turned back, her eyebrows knit together, only to find his hot gaze searing right through her. Her eyes met his for a split second, before she followed his gaze which roved down to the knot of her bathrobe and then further down, fixing onto her bare legs.

Slowly, Arjun took one step towards her, and involuntarily the next and the next. He had been about to follow her as she had feigned her outrage, but at that exact moment his eyes had decided to catch attention of her flimsy bathrobe that ended mid-thigh, roaming down to her toned legs. His gaze darkened several shades as it set upon her flushed face, and he stalked towards her, but with every step he took towards her, she took one step back. The sleeves of his black shirt were rolled up to elbows, and the shirt was a perfect fit, highlighting his well sculpted body, his all black attire making him look like a predator approaching his prey.

Finally, Draupadi's back came in contact with the railing and in a moment, Arjun grabbed her by the waist. His gaze bore into her eyes, holding them with an intensity that consumed her as his warm breath fell on her jaw line, his hand grazing the bare skin of her thigh ever so softly. She shut her eyes at once, clutching the lapels of his shirt, while he peppered kisses along her jaw, and then on the side of her neck, pushing one side of her robe down her shoulder, and eventually moving to the corner of her lips, barely brushing his own lips on hers, slightly puckered. She sucked in a sharp breath, and froze as she felt his hands over the knot of her robe.

In that moment, all of Draupadi's doubts about the future of their relationship, the hesitation about taking it forward at such a rapid pace, the bond between their families went straight out of the window, except that she had realised that the man in front of her meant a lot to her, and that she felt deeply for him. She didn't care anymore about how unexpected all this was, something she hadn't planned in her life that had been going well till she had fallen into the arms of this charming man. Now, he had become a huge part of her life, and she meant to tell him that as soon as she could.

Their lips were about to meet, only inches apart, when suddenly Draupadi felt something funny, a tickling sensation and before she could comprehend what was to happen and react on it, their romantic reverie was broken by something absolutely unexpected.

He held her waist tightly, admiring her soft expression, her smiling face before he placed a light kiss on her cheek. She blushed profusely, as he looked at her with the love clearly visible in his eyes. This was all she had ever wanted, she had wanted a person like him to be her better half, the person she would spend a lifetime with, and now it seemed like everything was falling into place.

They were standing outside her house, and she had offered to walk him to his car, after a quiet dinner with her family. Her dark, black eyes were twinkling with joy, as he framed her face with his palms, "See Devika? I told you, your parents will agree."

"I never expected them to accept our relationship so easily, but I am so glad that they did. Have you spoken to aunty and uncle?"

"Yes, I told dad over the phone the day I spoke to your parents and he will speak to mom soon. But you already know that she likes you, right?"

"Hmm...I know that. I can't wait till the shifting is over."

"It's a matter of a few months now, and then we can get married."

"Yeah, we'll be together then, always. Now, you must go, I'll see you at work tomorrow."

"Bye, love. I'll see you".

Yudhistir gave her a flying kiss before he sat in his car and quickly reversed the sedan.

His life was perfect now. He knew that his mother wouldn't have any problem and with his older brother already settled in US with Vrushali, his mother would be more than happy at the news of him getting engaged. Both, him and Devika were quiet persons, who had never liked publicity and glamour, hence one week ago, he had spoken to his father and then proposed to Devika after speaking to her parents and assuring them that he loved their only daughter immensely. He had been hesitant, speaking to them for the first time as their daughter's lover but the doctor couple had welcomed him into their little family with open arms and had even spoken to Pandu over video chat. He just couldn't wait to speak to his mother and the two younger brothers who were away from him and share the news with them; after all they had all loved Devika when they had met her.

Yudhistir drove parked his car in the garage with a content expression on his face, one that clearly showed that he couldn't wait to start his future with his fianc.

It had been an hour since dinner had been over, and Arjun had once again sneaked into his girlfriend's room to finish what he had started. After all, the disturbances in the house were more than the number of clauses they had added to their merger. He had made sure to lock the room as he made himself comfortable on her bed, while she sat beside him, typing furiously on her laptop.

"Thank god you have changed now, are you sure you are well."

"Yes, baby", Draupadi answered, her eyebrows furrowed as she read something and after a pause, continued, "It was just one sneeze."

"It was because of me. I never noticed that your hair was wet and that robe barely covered you. Also, that sneeze prevented our romance", he huffed, rolling over to her side, resting his elbow for support.

Draupadi smiled, putting her laptop aside, and removing her glasses, she lowered herself on him.

"Aw...poor baby", she raked her fingers through his hair and continued, "But what I am wearing right now isn't really very different, you know." Draupadi gestured with her eyes towards her shorts and tank top.

"But at least you have the comforter now. Anyway, let's just hope that your sneezes do not spoil our romance on the trip because we would be free from Bum's knocks for two whole days and nights," Arjun winked at her, reminding her how Bum had knocked earlier in the evening when they had tried to romance a little more after she had changed into her proper clothes, to call Draupadi for dinner.

She hit him slightly on the chest and hummed in response as she literally pushed him out of her room. As she wished him a good night in the balcony, he pecked her lightly on the lips and vanished into his room after saying, "Sleep well baby, we have long nights coming up...and days too. Good night."
