Hi all.

I have posted some information about the Battle of Paronkh from Akbarnama. Since this is present track going on in the show's re run. Hence, this information might be of interest.

INcludes the snippet where Abul Fazl records a desperate fight of Akbar and Bhagwan Das with the enemies. They both were alone and surrounded by enemies. A very detailed description. Also mentions the incident when Bhagwan Das offers water from his own supply to Akbar during the war.

Though, Abul Fazl does not records the arrow which Bhagwan Das took on himself while defending Akbar, though, i have read this somewhere - trying to recall where i read it. Till then do enjoy the rest of details.

Thanks for sharing the post. It is the appropriate time to do so. I have read it before also, but went through it once again. 😊
It is interesting to note that Jalal himself went to check the plunderers. The king himself doing so is praiseworthy. The makers have taken consideration the smallest details of the battle. The earlier CV's did a lot of research, it seems.⭐️ They might have read the arrow part where you read it. Wonder what the show would have been if they had stayed.

The battle shows the loyalty of Bhagwandas towards Jalal. Ameris are famous for their loyalty towards him only. It is also symbolic of the trust Jalal had on Bhagwandas and their strong relationship, that he fought a battle in the presence of only two attendants, one of which was BD.

It is also important to note that Abul Fazl has given such a detailed description of this battle. Speaks volumes about the Agra - Amer relations.

Thanks again for enlightening us with this very detailed, informative post. ⭐️

Akbar and Bhagwan Das in The Battle of Paronkh

Thanks for this post Abhay. Gives the viewers a better perspective.
What I found surprising and a little hilarious is that the imperial soldiers took shelter from the fire and left the Shahenshah to his own devices!
Raja Bhagwandas was right there fighting shoulder to shoulder with Jalal. Any idea who Badicand was?
Looks like the battle of Paronkh was somehow very important to Akbar. It has its very own chapter.
Thanks,
Devki

Thank you Abhay for the interesting post.

The JA creatives have cleverly combined this battle with Sukanya's engagement to Sujanpur Prince (from a later date) thereby giving Jalal the satisfaction of taking revenge on the Ameri clan. According to Akbharnama, we see that Akbhar hears about the complaint about the dacoits from the villagers while he was on a hunting spree where he was not fully prepared and equipped for a war.
It is really touching to read the lines "...the clash made sparks fly out, and the elephant in a rage , doubled up the swordsman and trod him under foot..Just then a boy of fifteen, in his agitation, flung himself from a roof on to the elephant.Jughar Khan wanted to kill him, but his majesty in his mercifulness, did not permit him to do so..."

This is another example of Akhbar's inherent soft nature while dealing with kids.

Thank you once again Abhay for the timely post.

Shagun,

Thanks for this beautiful post highlighting the attributes of all the parties. BTW, There is a blog article about Akbar and Amer relations too - Relations of Akbar with Mariam Uz Zamani and Rajputs of Amer

Since this battle was fought in personal presence of Akbar, hence it has a very detailed description.

Harshu, I don't remember the names, but the earlier CVs were really serious about the show. Theirs was a different case. Perhaps the show was new that time. Later they decided to ride on the popularity of the RT - PS pair, it seems.

Thanks Devki.

There are many such instances in Akbarnama's narration of this war, where Akbar is supposed to have handled the situation almost on his own. If we believe Akbarnama then - Akbar risked his life at the drop of hat in wars. Paronkh's description is on similar lines.

Raja Badicand is identified as the king of Nagarkot. He also fought with Akbar in this battle as read in the post. Later, his kingdom was confiscated, too.!
