Kay, I just realised I didn't do an Walima for them. Imagine we had one before they went on their honeymoon. I have no idea what I have written, so just bear with me. <3
Chapter 33
"Why on earth are you talking about Zareen now?" Zoya pressed her forehead staring out of the window. Asim stared at her from the sofa feeling guilty that he was harassing her about his feelings. He had done so all those years ago and he was bringing it up again. She did so much for him and made sure that chapter of their lives was closed for good. He didn't know why he felt so anxious now. He really loved Najma and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He was doing injustice to Zoya and Najma by remembering his forgotten past.
"I don't know Zoya." Asim sighed into his hands. "Zaheer hasn't forgiven us."
"You love tamater!" Zoya turned around and stared at him.
"I know but..."
"There is no buts." Zoya spoke sternly meeting his eyes. "You have to decide now whether you want to marry Najma or not?"
"Of course I do" Asim shot up.
"Then Zareen conversation ends now. And it will never be mentioned again." Zoya walked out of the room leaving a dejected Asim behind.
"Zoya, listen to me." Anwar chased behind her finding her rush down the stairs and out the front door. Humeira jumped up from her seat worriedly, Zeenat shook her head at her.
"They will sort it out" Zeenat comforted Humeira. She nodded and sat back down.
"Zoya, please. Wait" Anwar grabbed her hand and pulled her back. Zoya reluctantly looked up at him knowing he wouldn't let her go without sorting this out.
"Jeeju, why is he doing this now?" She questioned hugging him. Anwar rubbed her back.
"He is just worried, that chapter was closed but it still affects him. He isn't guilty of anything, but an innocent girl suffered. Can you blame him?" He pulled back and cupped her face.
"I know, but... I can't see him like this. I want him to be happy. I want him to settle down." Zoya spoke stubbornly. Anwar nodded at her.
"Just give him a bit of time. And please, don't get upset over this." He lifted her chin, she met his eyes. She nodded back at him. "Where were you thinking of running away eh?" Anwar teased.
"I just needed fresh air." Zoya smiled. Anwar kissed her forehead and walked back inside knowing she wanted to be alone for a bit. Zoya breathed in the fresh air and looked around the garden. She needed to stop thinking about everything and just relax. Everything will be fine. She sat down on the bench and stared up into the sky. She closed her eyes allowing the air to blow her hair back and caress every bit of her skin. She shivered but it gave her a satisfying feeling. She smiled feeling his warm breath on her neck.
"I missed you" He whispered into her ears before kissing her cheek. She tilted her head and relaxed it against the side of his feeling his hand go over her chest.
"I missed you too" She opened her eyes and looked over at him as he came around and sat down next to her. He wrapped his arms around her; Zoya placed her head against his chest.
"Did you sort everything out?"
"Yes. Hectic but yes." Replied Asad. All he could think about the whole day was holding his wife in his arms. Work seemed much harder and difficult without her by his side. She lifted her head and looked up at him, Asad pecked her lips.
"Shall we go inside?" He asked her. She nodded. They both got up and walked inside.
"Asad, I need to talk to you." Zoya said thoughtfully.
"What's up?" Asad looked down at her.
"Erm, when we get home" She pressed her eyes to reassure him it was nothing major.
"Asalaamu Alaikum" Asad entered the house greeting Anwar and Zeenat. They both came running towards him. Anwar hugged him tightly.
"Walaikum Asalaam" Anwar replied to his greeting. Zeenat caressed his cheek,
"It's good to see you beta, how are you?" Zoya watched them both shower him with love. They both took him inside and sat him down on the dining table. He looked back at Zoya nervously; she pressed her lips together trying to avoid looking into his eyes.
"They have been waiting for you all day Asad. Let them shower their love on you" Zoya joined Humeira's side. Asad nodded at Anwar while Zeenat served his plate. He tried to stop her from pouring the whole pot of curry into his plate; he just nodded his head at everything they said as they refused to listen to him.
"Eat, you have gone slim. Zoya must not have fed you anything on the holiday" Zeenat sat opposite him and watched. Zoya raised her eyebrow.
"I think they had other things to do than eat!" Asim spoke teasingly coming down the downstairs. Asad burst into a coughing fit, Zoya rushed towards him. He looked up at her with teary eyes as she helped him to sip water.
"Thank you" He whispered softly before glaring at Asim.
"Zip it" Zoya threatened Asim demonstrating her hand on her neck. He held his hands up defensively before sitting down on the sofa.
"Thank you that was delicious" Asad thanked Zeenat sitting down next to Zoya. His hand went over his stomach which was about to burst. Zoya played her eyebrows at him; he leaned against the sofa tiredly not having the strength to deal with her teasing. Zoya slapped his leg before getting up and walking into the kitchen. She made coffee for her husband who looked like he needed it desperately. She made tea for everyone else while she was in the kitchen and took it back out on a tray. Asad pressed his eyes at her realising she had made coffee for him. He took it gladly and sipped it only to wince.
"Careful" Zoya cautioned, Asad shook his head at her. She sat down next to him watching him get into a deep conversation with Anwar. She went into deep thought as Zareen clouded her mind. She blinked seeing Asim playing jokes on Humeira. She didn't know what to do to make him forget about his past, she wanted him to move on with his life and settle with Najma. She doesn't want people to find him guilty when he hasn't done anything. If he didn't let this matter go, it would be impossible for her to convince Asad to let him marry Najma. Asad hasn't changed in that department. He is as possessive, if not more, regarding his sister and he would be strict when it comes to finding a suitable groom for her. Zoya knew this. Asad has changed in the sense that he has become a bit more open with his feelings towards Zoya. He has changed for Zoya but he is still the same man he was. Asad would not consider Asim if he knew he still had doubts about his past.
Zoya leaned back against the sofa almost hiding behind Asad's shoulder. She didn't know what she should do. She pressed her forehead feeling a headache taking over her head.
"Zoya?" Asad clicked his fingers, Zoya snapped out of her thoughts.
"Huh?" She replied, totally out of it.
"Shall we go home?" He smiled. She nodded at him eagerly hearing home. He put his hand out to her; she grabbed it instantly and got up. She hugged Anwar and Zeenat tightly.
"Are we giving you away again? Don't cry this time PLEASE" Asim teased. Zeenat hit his shoulder.
"Take care, I'll see you tomorrow" Zoya placed her hand on Asim's cheek, her mind worrying for his future.
"See you later Fudge cake!" Asim winked at her but she didn't attack him like she usually does. She remained staring at him, Anwar and Zeenat exchanged glances. Asad placed his hand over her shoulder making her snap out of it.
"Bye" Zoya waved back being escorted out of the house by Asad. He helped her inside of the car before making sure Humeira was settled inside at the back. Asad got inside of the car and glanced at Zoya who was staring out of the window. He could sense that something was troubling her.
"Are you ready for tomorrow Humeira?" Asad looked into the rear view mirror. Humeira blushed moving her eyes off him and out of the window.
"Zoya, look at your sister" Asad started driving off. Zoya did not react; her eyes remained focused on one particular spot on the window.
Asad entered his bedroom to find Zoya sat in front of the mirror brushing her hair. He watched closing the door as she fidgeted with her necklace trying to unhook the ends but struggled. Her eyes refused to move off her chest in her reflection. Asad slowly walked up to her, his eyes going over her reflection. He unhooked the necklace off her, her eyes shot towards his reflection. She smiled at him. He brushed his thumb on her cheek, she closed her eyes. Asad's hand went down her neck and massaged her shoulders. Zoya slowly got up holding onto his hand against her chest and turned around. He held her chin and lifted it up.
"What is bothering you?" He asked her softly. She shook her head in a no. His thumb brushed cheek, "What is bothering you?" He asked her again. Zoya looked into his eyes. She could feel him unveiling every barrier in her eyes. Asad tucked her loose hair behind her ears, his other hand glided down her back and rested at her waist. He placed a kiss on her forehead and nodded reassuringly. Zoya kissed his palm, he pushed her back upwards. Zoya's chest hit his; she looked at him creasing her forehead trying to figure out what he was doing. He smiled widely at her, moving her fringe out of the way, she shook her head messing her hair up again. He lifted her against his side with one arm and reached for her lips. Zoya giggled against his lips.
He moved his head away, "What are you doing?"
"What?" She jumped off unhooking his hand from her waist and shrugged her shoulders. Asad grabbed the air as she dodged backwards and under his arm to the other side of the room in seconds. He looked at her mischievously and ran towards her. Zoya squealed watching him come towards her, she jumped up onto the bed. Asad halted in his tracks finding her feet on the bed; she followed his eyes to her feet and then moved them back onto him. She raised her eyebrow with a naughty smirk on her face. She started jumping; Asad leaped forward and tried grabbing her.
"Eeek!" Zoya almost fell off the bed as she tried moving away from his grip. Asad shook his head finding himself on top of the bed and Zoya as usual monkeying around the room.
"What are you doing?" He asked her placing his hands on his waist. She did the same and fluttered her eyelashes at him.
"What am I doing?"
"So childish Zoya!" He rolled his eyes. Zoya pulled her tongue out to him. He covered his eyes wanting to laugh.
"You can laugh Asad. It's okay!" She smiled at him, showing off her dimples.
"You are..." Zoya raised her eyebrow. "Absolutely crazy... and you look so beautiful being an idiot" Asad got off the bed. Zoya stood there trying to figure out whether that was a compliment or not. She watched him shake his head, "No, it's not a compliment" He laughed. She treaded towards him before realising she was running away from him, he grabbed her waist as she turned around to escape him. He lifted her up in the air, Zoya kicked forward laughing.
"NOOO!" Zoya protested, "EEEKKK!" She started laughing uncontrollably as Asad tickled her. Zoya fought with him as she tried to turn around but his hold around her waist tightened as she squirmed like a fish in his hold. Her legs kicked forward, she shook her hair trying to contain her laughter. "Asad" She spoke exhausted, "Ammi, will come" She spoke in between her laughs. Asad nuzzled his nose into her back; Zoya tilted her head back breathing heavily, feeling out of breath. "What did you get out of this?" She asked him as he finally let go. She turned around instantly to face him.
"Well, you ruined my kiss" He shrugged his shoulders walking away. Zoya opened her mouth wide; all this for one kiss? She ran up to him and jumped on his back. Asad's arm wrapped around her back protectively as if he was expecting her to do that. He chuckled. She kissed his cheek, her lips lingering as he scrunched his nose.
"My big baby" She pecked his cheeks a few times. "Is that better?" He nodded bringing her around and caressing her cheeks. He kissed her nose before reaching for her lips; he closed his eyes in annoyance hearing someone knock on their door. Asad stepped back looking up at the ceiling, Zoya bit the side of her lips trying to stop herself from smiling seeing his state. She fixed her hair finding him making himself comfortable in front of the laptop. He winked at her before pretending to be busy on the laptop. Zoya walked towards the door and opened it.
"Sorry beta, I didn't mean to disturb you. I just wanted to talk to you regarding tomorrow." Dilshad held a few gifts bags out to Zoya.
"No, come in Ammi." Zoya lead Dilshad inside the room, Asad moved over towards the bed and started fixing it as it looked disorientated which might give the wrong impression to his mother about what was actually happening inside this room.
"I don't know how we will do everything tomorrow, I am nervous." Dilshad sighed. Zoya looked through the gift bags one by one,
"I left the hampers with Aapi. She will bring them over with her, she will meet us there. And Ammi, please don't worry. Everything will be fine." Zoya placed her hand on Dilshad's and pressed it. "Everything has changed... for the better."
"I am unsure..."
"Ammi, don't worry. If you're worried about what relation you're going there as tomorrow, you are going as Humeira's mother and also Ayaan's too. Double relation!" Zoya smiled. "But for the record, we are on the girl's side and we will teach him a lesson when the time comes" She whispered pointing at Asad making him grumble. Dilshad laughed.
"Now, I didn't create this war between you two. You are doing that yourself. You two sort it out. I am going, please check those gifts and let me know if there is anything else we need for tomorrow." Dilshad got up chuckling and left the love birds to fight amongst themselves.
"I think you got it all wrong Zoya, you're going as Ayaan's bhabie while I am standing in as Humeira's brother." He came over towards her and tried to look at the gifts.
"If he doesn't have a brother, where does his bhabie come from?" She raised her eyebrow. Asad looked at her thoughtfully.
"You have a fair point there, wife-jee" He scooped her up into his arms.
"Jee?" Zoya made a weird face; he couldn't help but burst out laughing.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"2 minutes!" Zoya pointed two fingers at Asad as he walked into Humeira's room all dressed up.
"What? Zoya come on" He tapped his watch impatiently. He looked over her night dress which she still has not changed out of. "Zoya, you're still in your night clothes?" He tried to touch it as if it was the most disgusting clothes he has ever seen. She hit his hand away trying to fix Humeira's dupatta.
"Asad, why do we have to go over there? We could have asked them to come over." Zoya wiped her forehead feeling exhausted. Humeira looked back at brother in law for an answer. He pushed her to face back the other way and stopped the dupatta from falling off her head. Zoya met his eyes and bit her tongue realising she already knew the answer to her question.
"You look absolutely beautiful" Asad nodded at Humeira's reflection who moved her eyes off the mirror feeling shy. Zoya admired her little sister, sometime back she didn't even know whether she would ever get the chance to know her. But here she was, getting her ready for her engagement and fix her wedding date. Zoya's eyes filled, Asad pressed his forehead dramatically.
"She isn't getting married today, please go get ready" Asad scolded Zoya to stop her from crying. He hated seeing tears in her eyes, for happiness or for sadness, no need for it. Zoya pouted and walked out of the room slowly before realising how late she actually was. She sprinted towards her room and opened her wardrobe. She stared at it for a while realising she hadn't actually sorted out what she was going to wear. Asad obviously gave her no time to shop.
"Zoya... I-" He paused finding her staring at the wardrobe like she has never seen it before. "Zoya?!" She snapped out of it and looked back at him with wide eyes. She shrugged her shoulders innocently. Asad walked over towards her and reached inside for something. He brought his hand out holding a bag; he passed it over to her smirking.
"I love you!" Zoya jumped up and kissed his cheek before running towards the bathroom. Within minutes, she walked out of the bathroom throwing the end of the saree over her shoulder. Asad who was fussing on her dressing table, looked up momentarily and sighed dreamily. She looked absolutely serene in white. She lifted her hair walking towards him and showed her back so that he could tie her dori. He did as his wife's eyes ordered him to do, if he was not running late, this could have lasted hours. He placed a kiss on her back as he was done; she turned around and pressed her eyes at him. She breathed out looking into the mirrors blowing her fringe out of the way. She picked up the mascara and started applying it knowing that she did not have time to do a full face. Asad lifted her free hand and put some bangles on her hand. She smiled at her helpful husband who was enjoying everything but annoyed that he could not take his time. She picked up the lipstick and started applying. She looked to her side to find Asad standing there swinging some earrings at her. "Thank you" She whispered taking them off him. She tried to hook one onto her ear as he tried to do the other. She then ran towards the cupboard and grabbed her purse. "Done, done, done... Let's go" She glanced back at him flicking her hair over her face; he grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. He moved her hair off her face and kissed her forehead to relax her. He then brushed his thumb around the side of her lips to remove excess lipstick.
"Let's go" He whispered wrapping his arm around her waist and escorting her out. She smiled looking up at him; her love for this amazing man would never stop growing.
"And my love for you" He whispered into her ears helping her inside the car. He moved back and winked at her. She shook her head turning red.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zoya coughed awkwardly watching the adults' just stare at one another in silence. She looked from Dilshad to Rashid to Shireen. All of them sipped their cups of tea every minute or so, faking smiles at one another not knowing what conversation to make. She eyed Asad to do something; he nodded at her before looking at Anwar. Zoya leaned against the sofa giving up on everyone.
"Are we done playing this silent game?" She spoke sarcastically. Everyone looked at her. "Come on then, we are here to talk about Ayaan and Humeira." Zoya got up and walked around to sit next to Shireen. Shireen did not know how to behave, she blinked at Zoya who lifted her hand and held it on her lap.
"Aunty..." She started unsure. Her eyes went over everyone watching eagerly and waiting for her to carry on. She brought all these people along to watch as spectators, obviously. She winked at Asad before meeting Shireen's gaze, "I have" Asim coughed, "We have come here to ask for Ayaan's hand in marriage for Humeira" Zoya said confusedly as that did not make sense in her head. She was so sure it was supposed to be worded the other way around. She glanced at Dilshad who pressed her eyes reassuringly. She looked back at Shireen for an answer but her face was so serious she wasn't so sure about anything.
"No." Shireen replied, Rashid was about to intervene but she stopped him. Humeira held in her tears, while Ayaan sat agitated in his seat not knowing what he should do. He was about to get up to protest.
"Call me Ammi first" She smiled, everyone breathed out a sigh of relief. "I couldn't imagine a better life partner for Ayaan than our Humeira. I have always imagined that she would come into this house as my daughter in law. If you didn't come, I would have come to ask for Humeira's hand for my crazy Ayaan. I have always wished for her to stay in the house permanently and now it is going to happen. I wonder how we got so lucky Rashid, we are getting two of these beautiful girls now" Rashid nodded brushing his hand over Zoya's head. She held Rashid's hand,
"So that's a yes?" Zoya asked excitedly. Ayaan and Humeira watched for verbal confirmation as if Shireen's words weren't enough for them. Zoya played her eyebrows at Asad before nodding towards the two love birds.
"YES pagli" Rashid replied laughing. "Bring those mithai. Let's sweeten our mouths" He ordered. Zoya jumped up onto her feet and ran towards the kitchen making everyone laugh. She came rushing back with a plate of mithai and gave it out to everyone. She stopped in front of Asad and eyed the sweet in front of her. He took a piece and bit a bit of it before placing it to her lips. Zoya looked around cautiously before biting onto the whole piece and started chewing away. Nikhat nudged her brother watching the whole thing in front of her. He avoided looking at her as Ayaan laughed at his brother from the other side. He shot up and walked towards Ayaan who crawled back thinking he would get beaten up for his behaviour.
"Right, shall we seal this deal?" Zoya turned around from the table. She had prepared two plates and placed the rings on them before spreading petals over it; she was prepared for this bit. Her face was beaming with excitement holding the two plates at them.
"I'm ready!" Nuzzhat played with the camera in her hand; Zeenat picked Humeira up who was too embarrassed to even move. Asad held on to Ayaan brushing his shoulder trying to fix his sherwani, Ayaan twisted his mouth at his brother's behaviour, not sure who's side he was on. His brother was changing colours every second, he pretended to cry.
"We'll talk about this after your engagement" Asad threatened trying to contain his laughter. Ayaan gulped walking towards Humeira. His thoughts lifted to her appearance, she was dressed in a white and maroon lehenga. His eyes glistened admiring her every detail, his to be fiance's best ornament was her shyness which increased her beauty.
"This was much harder than the actual proposal" Ayaan joked with Humeira. She lifted her eyes to meet his gaze. Everyone gathered around the couple with smiles plastered on their faces. Their family's happiness has been restored; Asad and Zoya's marriage was a start of their happiness returning them. They never thought they would be able to see this much happiness for their children.
"I'm here" Zoya whispered pressing Humeira's shoulder. "I know you miss them, everything will be fine." She comforted her sister. Humeira looked over her shoulder and shook her head sideways with a smile on her face. Ayaan lifted her hand towards him taking the ring off Zoya and slipping it unto her finger. Zoya placed his ring in Humeira's hand and nodded her head. Humeira lifted her long eyelashes and met Ayaan's waiting eyes. She could clearly see excitement written in his eyes and over pouring love for her. She put the ring on him but it seemed loose.
"IT FITS!" Ayaan held his hand up at everyone shrugging off the fact that it was loose. For him, it was the perfect fit. Everyone burst out laughing.
"Don't worry we will get you a proper fitted ring" Rashid laughed.
"No no it's fine" Ayaan stared at his ring happily.
"You idiot, the wedding will still be on. This won't be if we do not get it fixed" Asad brushed his hair; Ayaan dodged out of the way trying to keep his hair up.
"Can everyone please get in the frame?" Nuzhat, their photographer for the day ordered. Ayaan placed his hand over Humeira's shoulder and posed away. Zoya stepped away from them and smiled away from the distant watching her family fuss over the pictures. She didn't think she would ever see this day where they would stand as one family. There were still barriers between them but they were still one. Her eyes ran over the grande mansion, this was where her father had built his world. And in that world, a little princess had dreamt of so many things. Her heart felt heavy realising that in order for her get justice, her little sister had to lose everything she used to cherish. She never wanted this for her. She wanted her sister's happiness. She brushed the lone tear creeping out of her eyes and picked up her phone. She took a picture of them all wanting to capture this chaotic moment where everyone had a smile on their face and seemed content for once. Her thumb brushed over the picture on her phone, she blinked a few times trying to hold back her tears. She looked to her side feeling someone's hand go over her head. Zeenat pressed her eyes at her before resting her head on her shoulder.
"Are you okay?" Zeenat whispered brushing her arm.
"I'm fine Aapi. Just slightly... a teenie bit emotional" Zoya sniffed.
"Even I feel slightly emotional." Zeenat smiled, "I am so happy for you both." Zoya looked at her sister.
"I am too." She replied softly holding her sister's hand against her chest.
"You look beautiful today. I think you're glowing even more after your marriage" Zeenat teased lifting her chin. Zoya turned deep crimson trying to avoid her sister's teasing gaze.
"Please aapi!" Zoya chided placing her hand over her mouth to stop her from embarrassing her any further. Zeenat tried to remove her hand warning her with wide eyes, Zoya put her finger to her lips to hush her. Zeenat's eyes went over Asad.
"Baby, your mother is very naughty. Ask her to behave" Zoya whispered to Zeenat's stomach.
"Baby, you tell her that I-" Zeenat removed Zoya's hand only to have her other hand go over her mouth.
"Baby, tell your mother to leave your aunty alone otherwise it won't be good." Zoya grinned, Zeenat watched folding her arms. She took her ears near her stomach pretending to listen to the baby's reply.
"What did the baby say?" Zoya almost fell back hearing Asad's voice; she gave him a goofy look.
"Baby said aunty is the best" She smiled widely before walking off placing both of her hands on her cheeks feeling it burn.
"Baby's mother agrees with baby" Zeenat laughed following behind Zoya. Asad looked on confused.
"So when is the wedding date?" Ayaan asked his brother placing his hand over his shoulder. Asad gave him a blank look.
"Please?" He blinked at his brother, Asad tried to contain his laughter.
"Control yourself!" Asad warned him with wide eyes.
"Oh and says you bhaijaan" Ayaan rolled his eyes. Asad lifted his fisted hand, Ayaan ran out through the front door with Asad chasing behind him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I want you both here for the wedding" Rashid told Zeenat and Anwar. "Is it possible to delay your tickets for a bit?"
"Yeah like by a month?" Zoya pushed her luck. Ayaan pouted at Humeira; a month?
"A month?" Exclaimed Zeenat, "What about naani?" Zoya frowned realising her naani needed Zeenat. Her sister's pregnancy will be quite difficult; she wanted her to be done with all the travelling.
"2 weeks?" Zoya tried again. Anwar and Zeenat looked at each other before nodding at her. Zoya clapped excitedly.
"14th?" Dilshad asked Shireen to which she nodded.
"Whatever you think is best. I just want Humeira to come here as soon as possible." Shireen smiled towards Humeira.
"What do you think Humeira, are you okay with 14th?" Asad asked Humeira wanting her view on this. Najma glanced at Asim sadly. Humeira nodded in agreement.
"That is final then." Anwar sealed the deal. "14th it is. Another wedding, giving away another daughter. I don't know how we got so lucky. We were blessed with two daughters. I hope our next child turns out like my two angels."
"Jeeju" Zoya sat down next to him and side hugged him.
"That is final then. We will discuss everything else over the phone" Dilshad got up. "We will take your leave now." Everyone else got up following Dilshad.
"I will be in touch" Shireen hugged Dilshad before escorting everyone towards the front door.
"Bhabie, please come over more often" Nikhat told Zoya before embracing her tightly. "Hope you had fun on your honeymoon" She whispered into her ears.
"Yes and we are not discussing any of that" Zoya pressed her lips together winking at her.
"Dost, I will see you soon" Zoya hugged her father in law with a smile plastered on her face. He blessed her open heartedly. Rashid place his arm over her shoulder and walked her towards the car.
"Zoya, everyone is gathering at aapi's house." Asad told her from inside of the car. Rashid met Asad's eyes momentarily.
"Allah hafiz" Rashid put his hand out to him through the window. Asad took his hand and shook it. Zoya smiled watching the two before feeling a pull. She turned around to find Asim wanting to speak to her.
"I want you to speak to aapi and jeeju about her first." Zoya spoke before he could say anything. "And then I will speak to Ammi and Asad." She nodded her head. Asim understood what she was saying and walked back towards the car. Rashid helped her settle inside the car before waving at her. Zoya waved back while Asad drove away. She leaned back against her seat sighing, feeling exhausted. Her eyes ran over her ringing phone when Asad was just about to speak. He paused waiting for her to pick it up.
"Hey Armaan, how are you?" Zoya greeted her long lost friend with a smile.
"How are you beautiful?" Armaan asked her.
"I'm good thank you, how are you?"
"I am good thanks. Sorry I didn't want to disturb your blissful honeymooning period" He teased with a laugh she missed so much. Zoya couldn't help but chuckle, Asad watched her.
"It's okay, sorry I haven't been able to reply to all the e-mails. Has Amjad gone through them? What is up?" She questioned.
"Yeah, we have received a huge new client and guess where they are based?" Armaan spoke excitedly getting straight to the point. He never has time to chitchat.
"Where?" She asked confused.
"India." He almost cheered.
"India?" Zoya repeated looking at Asad. "I haven't received anything regarding this." She said confused.
"WHAT? Zoya, please don't say that. Please tell me you know something please please?" Armaan sounded exhausted and he just wanted this news to be happy.
"Alright, calm down you stress head. I trust you, and I know that whatever decisions you take will the best for the company hence why I am sat here without worrying about a thing." Zoya assured her friend.
"Okay, phew." He breathed out,
"But I'm guessing that isn't what you wanted to talk about?"
"Erm yeah, the client wants to arrange a conference end of next month or the month after. They want one of us to be present..." His voice trailed off.
"Why do you sound so unsure Armaan?" Zoya laughed. "Don't worry, I will go. I know I have taken a major step in my life, but I can still handle this."
"Are you sure?" He asked her again.
"Yeah definitely."
"How is Asad doing? I'm so happy for you." Armaan diverted their conversation. Zoya met Asad's eyes.
"He is doing great. How is Riddhima doing? I hope you have been spending time with her" Zoya warned him. Her eyes glistened seeing the rain that started pouring down slowly. She loved the rain; she exchanged glances with Asad remembering her romantic comment.
"Er yeah. She is doing great too. You have to skype her and let her know you're okay and basically tell her to stop harassing me" He joked, " Erm Zoya, I have a meeting like 4 minutes ago, I will have to speak to you later. Take care." He spoke really fast.
"Bye, take care" Zoya ended the call and smiled at Asad who held onto her eyes bringing the car to a sudden halt. She reacted in a weird a way almost falling forward. She faced Asad raising her eyebrow questioningly. He opened the door and stepped out into the rain. Zoya opened her mouth to speak but she closed it again not understanding what he was doing. Her eyes followed her husband watching him spread his hands out to allow the rain to wet him from head to toe. She blinked disbelievingly. He turned around to look at her; he wiped his face and brushed his wet hair back. She sighed dreamily, her handsomely wet husband. He motioned with his hands for her to come, she looked down at her saree and then back up at him before shaking her head in a no. Asad ran around the car and opened her door. She stared up at him with her innocent dough shaped eyes. He put his hand out towards her; Zoya shook her head in a no stubbornly. Asad grabbed her hand and scooped her up into his arms before swinging her out into the rain. He laughed openly while Zoya clung onto his kurta, she could hear his laugh echo into the distant.
"ASAD!" Zoya closed her eyes tightly as the rain showered on them. He put her down and stepped back watching her. Her white saree was now wet and stuck against her body outlining her figure. Asad gathered water in his palm before throwing it at her face; Zoya's arm went over her face. She moved her hand away and grumpily glared at him. He played with his eyebrows stepping backwards as she treaded forward towards him. Asad nodded at her laughing, her nose scrunched up before shaking her hair. Asad crossed his arms watching her slowly embrace the rain and started enjoying the feel against her skin. He stepped behind her watching her open her hands and slowly spin under the rain. He slipped her hand over her bare back; Zoya jumped forward and tilted her head sideways. He reached forward and grabbed her hand pulling her back towards him. He moved her wet hair to one side before kissing her back. Zoya tried to move away but he grabbed the end of her saree and pulled it back making her spin back towards him. The saree wrapped around her as she hit her back against Asad's chest. Her breathing became heavy under the rain, her chest waved to the beats of her own heart. Asad's hand went over chest trailing it up her neck while his other hand wrapped around her waist tightly. He kissed her neck a few times, she closed her eyes feeling his touch overpowering her every sense. She smiled slowly opening her eyes and glancing at him; his eyes portraying all sorts of emotions. She playfully spun out of his grip, Asad tugged at the end of her saree, Zoya turned with wide eyes feeling the saree fall off her shoulder. Zoya bit her lips meeting his gaze, his hand holding onto the end of her saree. She stood breathless, half covered in the middle of the road, with her beloved refusing to move his eyes off her. The rain carried on falling uncontrollably amidst the deserted road. Asad folded the end of the saree as he took slow steps towards her until he came face to face with her. He trailed his hand up her belly, over her chest and glided the saree on her shoulder. He held her face in between his hands and brushed sticky strands of hair off her face. His thumb brushed over her plumped pink lips quivering under the cold rain, her wide red eyes capturing his. He neared her face, breathing heavily over her face as raw desire took over his soul. He pressed his lips against hers finally extinguishing the fire inside of him. His slippery hands held her face tightly pushing her against him; he sucked on her lips trying to relish every bit of her taste. Zoya's hand moved up his chest before pulling at his collar. She gave every bit of her to him in that kiss, her need for him as great as his. He broke free from the kiss and grabbed the end of the saree placing it over their heads before kissing her neck and every inch of her face.
"I love you" He whispered before reaching for her lips again.
