Shaan and Radhika to rock with the jodis
"Nach Baliye organisers had initially contacted us to be a part of the show but with Shaan's Voice of India and I am in the midst of starting my own kids' store called the Big Red Bus and having to look after the home… my two sons… it was just impossible. Shaan was okay about it but I genuinely had no time," says Radhika, "But then I believe they held a radio poll where 80% of the people wanted us to perform and so then we agreed to his one of performance."
Radhika says that after having done just one performance she has now realised how difficult it is. "You see to dance in a night club and doing choreographed steps are two very different things. And now I realise how much time all the other jodis must be putting in. Our performance is a medley of three songs. It has been choreographed by Pappu Mallu and it took a whole lot of hard work!"
So who is your favourite jodi?
"I'm not trying to be diplomatic but I told the same thing to Tina and Hussain as well that we somehow know almost all the participants in the show. Either I know them or they are Shaan's friends. Pooja, Hanif and Shaan know one another really well… with kavita we have a Bengali connection. Shaan and Kashmeera went to college together," she says, "But having said that I think technically Rakhi and Abhishek are brilliant and completely rule the dance floor. Then I think Pooja and Hanif and Aamir and Sanjeeda are next!"
After having seen all the hard work that goes into it Radhika says she still doesn't mind being a part of the show. "If I have the time to take it up then I surely would. I'm not scared of competition as long it is a healthy atmosphere. I'm too straight forward. The hard work is also fine… its just the time constraints right now that have kept me away from the show this season!"
When asked if she had to choose between Shaan on Voice of India and her friends on Nach Baliye which of the two shows is she most likely to watch, Radhika says, "Luckily for both us the programmes come on two different times so therefore I don't have to choose!"
It's a double whammy for all Nach Baliye fans this week as not only do they get to see their right jodis battle it out for a place in the next round but also get to see everyone's favourite Bollywood singer, Shaan, and his wife Radhika dance to a medley in the upcoming show.
