Hey buddy!
Thank you very much for this appreciation on Razia's post. More posts will be uploaded as soon as possible.

I was thinking - the brief recap of contest between Md. Ghori and Prithviraj Chauhan will be interesting to readers, and seems it was a correct assertion.

Thanks Sonu, for this generous appreciation. It is good to see that you found the post helpful.

Of course, King Dahir was from Sindh, and hence he might be famous there at your hometown. If you know more details about him then do share.

I think Pakistan has missiles on name of Ghori and Ghazni too. BTW, I did not think about your nationality earlier, but it is good to have a member from Pakistan also on the blog. The blog now contains readers from diverse areas around the globe which is a good sign.

Are you talking about Khalid ibn al-Walid who was the aide of Prophet Mohammed ? If yes, then he had his allegiance to the Rashidun Caliphate and died in 642 AD. And the person, Al-Walid about whom i talked about was from the Ummayad Caliphate, and he died in 715 AD.

Yes, Nasir-ud-din Mahmud was the grandson only, but his son was given the same name, and Iltutmish brought him as his son. Even historians call him the son only (not grandson) for this reason. Hence, i too took this liberty, though i have specified grandson in brackets now. :)

Mauryans were way before Delhi Sultanate as mentioned by another member also on the blog (check there).

Will be posting future parts soon, as per my schedule ; though i heard that the show is going off air, but i would be posting what i have dug up. :)

yup its ghori written on the missiles😆

its all so interesting to read specially with the inclusion of so many pictures of coins, places and maps.. 😃
you started from the early medieval times which was quite surprising but amazing as well..!!
I got to know and learn so much more today because of your post. I never paid attention in my history classes at all. 😆
update your next part soon
P.S. I did read earlier your blogs on Mughals. They were equally enjoyable to read!

Thank you very much buddy! It was a sort of quick recap because then only one can appreciate the amount of opposition Razia might have faced in that time. I am glad that you all liked it.

Next part is coming soon. :)

PS : Thanks for being a part of Mughals section too. I never knew, i will get some silent readers from here too. :)

Congrats on the new section - Razia Sultan! So happy to see the blog grow by leaps and bounds in just a year. :) And congrats for your terrific debut on the Razia Sultan forum. :)

This curtain raiser post on the events that led to the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate, marking a transition from the Hindu, native Rajput rulers to the Muslim, Arab/Turk rulers, is so wide-sweeping that it will take many readings to understand all the finer details of the geo-politics of that time.

There was definitely a major shake-up of how empires would be acquired and run and also of the culture the common people were exposed to while Hindustan was moving into the medieval era. It would be highly interesting to discuss this tumultuous and event-filled period with history lovers here. :)

Razia Sultan - Just the fact that she was able to break through many barriers and become the first woman ruler of Delhi (even South-East Asia perhaps ?) is enough to fill me with awe and respect for her. She was able to hold her own against brutal men, who didn't spare anyone in their quest for power, for 4 years. It speaks volumes about her capabilities as a sovereign and a power player. Am so looking forward to reading more about this firebrand queen and discussing her rule. :)

Last but not the least, it is gratifying to see so much detail of how Delhi changed with each successive ruler, starting from the Lal Kot of Anangapal.

Thank you for such a lucid and comprehensive post about the setting-up of the Delhi Sultanate!

Radhika,
Do i need to add anything to this well written post. Just fantastic, and thanks for your inputs too in the posts. :)

After Mughal, Rajputs, Mauryans, the Mamluks seem to be another interesting dynasty!
