This has been on my mind since his entry episode.

His fellow socialist party members of the college were protesting Dr Shukla's book/speech, which if I am gauging properly, is regarding his thoughts regarding the caste-system.

Kailash 'saves' Dr Shukla and treats him as his honored guest. Which is well and fine, and commendable. Differing views shouldn't be oppressed and should be allowed their voice.

But then came Dr. Shukla's question regarding caste. A true socialist or man to the cause would have and should have refused to answer the question, and state his ideology regarding caste.

Yet, he answered. And he knew very well what Dr Shukla wanted to meet his parents for. Which by in itself is no problem, but combine all the factors...and... How ironic, the man who is writing and espousing the continuation of caste system finds a perfect Brahmin for his daughter in the leader of a Socialist group who are against caste system. No one would be of the illusion that caste played no hand in this match-making.

Very interesting post. I always found it suspicious the way he made an entry, defended Shukla instantly & in a short matter of time, even got married to Sudha. Like as though there was some agenda or conspiracy going on there which wasn't as obvious.

Now that you say it, I can't help but agree with you, that Shukla ultimately gave away his daughter for his own selfish reasons. No wonder he liked Kailash immediately & was so blind to his daughter's tears & unhappiness regarding this marriage. Ultimately, Shukla wants to live in this society too. And what better way to shut up opposition than to get his daughter married to the very leader of this opposition. And same for Kailash, maybe he might not be what he seems. People support a lot of causes, but how many actually live their life by it & truly believe in it? Maybe its just me but the actor playing Kailash doesn't look like a decent dude😆

Good post yaar. See from the time Kailash entered I had felt something amiss. You know what they say something is not right. But I was unable to pin point what is not right.

And you said it. Kailash is the leader of socialist party and they are against caste system or in other words any type of hierarchy.

And if I know correct many of the staunch leaders of socialist party in Kerala had love marriages, by that I mean they defied many social customs.

Kailash on the other hand if he is a true socialist would have wanted to speak to the girl first, understand whether she is in agreement of the marriage before even allowing Shukla to proceed with his parents.

This man actually shows pseudo socialism in every way. Not only by telling the caste, but by also making a show in the mandap of telling the marriage vows.

He is about power and to get power you need right contacts at right place. His marriage would be in all probability will just be a stepping stone to the power he wants.

Dr Shukla has a good social standing and as his son-in-law he gets much visibility and acceptance in the society.

For both Shukla, and Kailash Sudha was just a means to power. And they used Chander as their Mohra making use of his adarsh.

@prcfan I had never thought of that angle, you bring up a good point. That getting his daughter married to a leader of a socialist party helps him when he may be questioned of being one who believes in hammering progress and equality for the the general population. Because he can point to his own son-in-law as his 'proof' that he is not for inequality, but simply believes in upholding caste. (How the the two are not exclusive is another matter.)

@shrutiravi... ditto to all you've said. And adding to your points, Socialist movements in Kerala and other parts of the South adapted the patronymic system in an attempt to wipe out cast. And this guy here is happily indulging a known caste-ist by giving his surname and caste.

P.S. Apologies to those who may have read my initial reply filled with autocorrect and nonsensical sentences. 😆 Why I shouldn't write a post still half-groggy on mobile.

And yaar did you watch today's epi. My skin crawled when Kailash was explaining Shaadi Ka Naasha. I cant explain what I felt as a woman when he was talking about it. What this man would have done to Sudha.

He might have used her for satisfying his carnal desire as well as satisfying ugly fantasies🤢. I simply cant imagine the plight of the woman married to a man like him.

Ditto...my words... him women are just material, to be consumed.

The way he reacted on his party guys...it was clearly evident that he is among those who takes to politics just to make their presence loud...and nothing else.
