Hey folks,

I'm not speaking for all, but some of us feel KKB is dragging. I'm frustrated story is not moving. But TV ratings in India are high! We keep hearing TRP/BARC ratings are high and until they go down, CV's are not going to change anything. It's interesting that ratings in India are tied to the channel and not the show!!

I wish there's a global rating system for KKB. Yes, majority of viewers are in India, but I want to respectfully remind folks that viewers in 169 countries see this show and Zee TV is a global company. Total viewership is 979 million people, I think. Some of our feedback should matter to the channel.😊

ZEE TV made 843 crores (INR) through TV ads wordwide. And 479 crores through subscriptions for channel (thru satellite or cable) worldwide. I watch the show on my cell, laptop and have a subscription to the channel at home too. There are global viewers paying for both advertising and subscriptions!

It'd be great if India Forums had a way to capture numerical ratings/feedback from viewers worldwide. I know we're able to post our topics, etc. I wish they had an online survey each month where data can be captured. Advertisers are bombarding us with ads on IF. Why not have a way for us to send a message to the show and channel?? 👍🏼

Just some random thoughts! Just want everyone's opinions to be heard too! 😆

Leave globally , I don't even know whether the whole of India is considered for TRPs.

Ratings are from TRP and BARC trps only focus on urban viewers from cities all over India. barc gets data from rural urban areas India.

I don't really understand the ratings but as far as I know isn't the rating calculates from all over India?!

Yes, you're right. Advertisers and cable companies select households from all over India to get the data on what channel they're watching.

But these shows are watched all over the world. I don't think there's a mechanism to capture data globally.

Maybe someone can throw light on that. If they do , then it is fair that global ratings are considered for Indian shows.

But if not , then shows airing on Indian channels for Indian audience , should consider ratings from India.

Official system of TV rating is BARC. TRP and BARC are not different. BARC generates TRPs and considers samples from urban and rural India both.

There is another agency TAM , but that's not official now in the TV industry.

There is "online" viewership rating. That might count some for desi people abroad watching the soap.

As per TRPs, KB did fall to no.6 or no. 8 during Pragya shipping Tannu track. And guess what the CVs did, first created hype with Abhi's confession followed by Pragya's accident and make over. They didn't really end pregnancy!😕

As per IF goes, someone created a poll for this track and 80% members here didn't enjoy it (when I saw it last, don't know if the numbers changed now).

BARC and TRPs in India measure channels not shows. They collect data on how many people are watching which channel at 9pm slot. It's a deductive conclusion they make that if they're watching Zee, then they are watching KKB. There is no qualitative data why they like KKB or other specifics.

If the measurement criteria is channel, then Zee considers itself a global channel. They don't define themselves as an Indian channel and their advertising revenues and channel subscriptions are coming from all over the world. As a matter of fact, we got bombarded by our local advertisers here during the show.

I don't know about other countries, but most U.S. shows in India are old. They're not shows aired here in the morning and shown in India the same day. The channel buys the right to show them after they're a success in the U.S. So ratings don't come into the picture. And almost all US channels don't really call themselves worldwide channels. They look at themselves as subsidiaries in Asia.

I'm just looking for a way to give feedback on shows I pay for and watch!😆

It's doesn't have to be BARC/TRPs. Like I mentioned a simple google survey link every week on IF forum will be fine too! 😊

Online ratings, I am trying to find the link. People sometimes post it here in the forum. Let me get back to you on that.

This is for the last week of 2014. Can't find later ones. Sometimes people post it on the fourm.. they don't post links. No idea where they get it from. KB is on the top 3 or so more or less all the times I have seen.

PS: I don't watch any other soap, but from what I have heard of basic plots of other soaps, it seems like it's all similar stuff to KB or even more atrocious stuff like witch craft and ghosts etc. KB is still better than them I feel. KB also has a light hearted/youth feel to it, so it would be more popular among younger generation too that way.

I have watched one soap completely before this one with Shabbo as the lead, and trust me, the MUs, hate marriage, heroine's sacrifice etc. etc. were very similar plots and a lot of dragging was involved there too. Even some scenes are so very similar! :-(. It's all a formula that gets recycled perhaps with better presentation now.
