🤗She is not out forever😲Don't spoil my pretty dreams please😳 Please tell you are joking😳
A quiet routine settled over their days and nights. Before parting in the morning, they would wish each other well for the day. The hours would pass one way or another, and his tired eyes would search for her at the door not long after he himself had walked through it. She would give him a small smile without fail upon entering, but he soon learned to read the set of her shoulders for a true measure of her day.
After dinner Maa would retire to her room and they would work quickly to clear the table. She would invariably take her place at the sink (he knew she remembered how much he hated washing dishes) but on days her shoulders were slumped in defeat he would nudge her aside, hip bumping against hers.
She'd protest even as he was busy rolling up his sleeves. One evening, in an effort to circumvent their impending argument, he flicked soap suds in her direction. Ragini's mouth dropped open in shock. He smugly continued with his work, only to jump when her cold wet fingers slid across the back of his neck. He gladly returned the favor and found she was still ticklish right there - her breath still caught as she said his name just so...and even if she minded his wet hands spanning across her waist he kept her too busy to complain.
They were much better behaved when Nishi and Jignesh visited them for dinner.
But even as they settled in each night he found himself unable to cross the last divide between them. Fear and doubt gnawed at his words until he was left with tatters of everything he wanted to say to her, every emotion that had reawakened the moment he watched his bride make her way down those stairs to him once again.
Pam's parting words looped through his mind.
"Neil," she had stopped him as he lifted their suitcases into the car. "Be careful."
"Don't worry Pam, they're not that heavy."
"I'm not talking about that." He had paused and leaned against the bumper, arms crossed in a defensive gesture as if he knew what was coming. "You don't think I realize how you look at her?"
"Pam..." he had begun but she had cut him off.
"I know, she's your wife. But I haven't forgotten what happens every time she breaks your heart."
He had averted his eyes then, and wondered if she would still look up to her older brother if she knew how much of the blame he too shouldered for the failure of their relationship.
"This is it for you both," she had said, placing a hand on his shoulder. "You better make it work, otherwise..."
He had looked up in surprise. The tears in her eyes made finishing the thought unnecessary. "Pam," he had hugged her, "what would I do without you?"
She had laughed hoarsely. "You'll find out soon enough."
In the end he usually settled for, "Goodnight Ragini." Her sighed reply would remind him to be grateful for the seconds she spent next to him and he would think, tomorrow. Tomorrow he would take the chance.

Ragini eyed the clock on her desk warily. Butterflies took flight in her stomach when she realized there were only a few short hours until she would find herself at home, alone. Alone with Nachiket.
It was silly, really, considering their history. But there was something in his eyes this morning as he bid her goodbye. A hint of anticipation...and perhaps, a promise? She couldn't recall his gaze without shivering despite the pleasant temperature of her cabin.
It was entirely possible she was reading too much into it, that he hadn't sought her eyes when Maa mentioned she would be traveling that weekend.
And so what if she had looked back at his SMS from this afternoon roughly every few minutes?
See you tonight. Hope you're hungry ;-)
Nothing in those few words should have had her sighing like a lovesick schoolgirl. She was married to him (twice, for goodness sake) and knew how easily he wielded those dark eyes and that silver tongue to devastating effect.
And yet, the thought of all those uninterrupted hours stretching out in front of them...
Could she take what he was willing to offer her without losing herself in him once again?

Part 5 Preview:
"Nachiket," she sighed drowsily. "That was amazing."
He grinned and watched her eyelids droop once, twice, a third time before winning the battle as she lay in front of him.
"I thought you might enjoy it," he replied, clearly pleased with himself.
"We should do this more often."
"Isn't that what I've been trying to tell you? But no, the children... "
Ragini opened one eye in annoyance. "Well now that they're gone I see no issue with it."
"Oh? You mean this could be a regular occurrence?" He waggled his eyebrows.

Nidhi,
Don't do this, please. We've been through enough this weekend. Don't stop here. 😒

Sorry Loveleen, I just couldn't finish it. I can take this down until it's all done if that's better.
