The episode is one of a kind .. it's quite simply to me like taking a small group of disaffected, deprived mixed age range children on a short one off trip.. a step although a small one, into a world where they never even dreamed they could be in. How they react to this new life style when they show their joy ,the excitement , the confusion.. can vividly be seen on Viplav's face. He wanted them to get a taster of life outside the Ashram too.. he also knew he was making them bend the rules , but his great argumentative and persuasive skills eventually made them partake in this novel experience. He emerges as an adult , a teacher.. totally in charge of a group of children.. each with their own personalities .. his adaptive skills makes him talk through issues when they arise, both as in a group situation and on individual basis like in the case of the stroppy student dhani.. The episode also mentions lies.. the ones that malign and aim to create division and breakage like Tripurari does to get Kanak gunned down by Dashrant.. Viplav too acts up.. puts on.. in the meal scene.. but he does so to bring people togethe .. sharing and giving.. There is also a reference to an insect.. which within a household is considered a pest , an unbecoming creature that can either crawl or fly about.. it's unwanted and is often laden with a sting..in short it is something that needs to be put down! or released out of doors ! Kanak is compared to an insect.. she was fine till she crawled in the house.. but unacceptable that she flits and flies about doing her own thing!
Tripurari does exactly as he is required to do by Dashrant , keeps a watchful eye on Viplav and then reports the incident to his newspaper editor. But then Tripurari knows what story is going to sell ,hence he adds and subtracts or rather tweaks his reported information to suit his own agenda. On the outset he gives Dashrant the facts that he wants him to hear as he wishes to show he follows his Guru devs instructions but really he wields the real power as he dangerously appeases his arch enemy and tells him what he wants. Tripurari does so with great finesse as who's to check up on him? both Viplav and Dashrant are preoccupied with their own issues. Viplav, in retrieving the lost Ashram and living through his retribution . Dashrant, is preoccupied with redeeming his fake faade of respectability.
Strike whilst the iron is hot! Tripurai tells Dashrant on his behest he did go and see Viplav and put pressure on him to return home but he really didn't wish to speak about it.. now you know me , I never take advantage, in fact on behalf of the second mistress I apologized to all the widows. But looks like Viplav is not really fond of the second mistress. He insisted that second mistress should apologize to the widow before all in the market square! Now you tell me how can that be possible and why would she apologize? and another thing gurudev if you ask me , I don't think Viplav babba will return home even after winning the Ashram case.. he'll continue to stick around the Ashram. I begged him to see that you have been exempted from the pandits of Benaras and him staying in the Ashram will make it worse for Guru dev.. but before that.. that dhani came.. and said she needed his help and babba left with her right away , totally disregarding all that I spoke to him about.. said he'll speak to me later.. now Guru dev if you think about it , with me being around what was the need for second mistress to do all that she did with Dhani? Tell me Guru dev if second mistress hadn't humiliated Dhani publically , today Viplav babu would have been living at home and not that Ashram! Tripurari phones Dashrant and lies through his teeth. He picks on all three Kanak ,Viplav and Dhani.. winds Dashrant against them.. but his main target is Kanak who insulted his mother Durga in the market square. He knew that Dashrant was heading home so pump him enough against Kanak so today she falls from his grace rightaway! and the process of dethroning the lioness of Dashrant's empire commences as soon as he arrives, she coyly offers him a glass of water which he declines and harshly says, she needs to drain in the toilet! As she is crossing the line with her behaviour! He grits his teeth and says, you forget that you are the daughter in law of this household! have you understood that? he warns an out of joint Kanak.. Dashrant turns to his wife and orders her, you get me a glass of water! Sushma is as confused as Kanak.. as Dashrant sinks down on the settee ..pathetic! He begins as he accepts water from his wife's hand and turns to her and says, I know you must be worried about Viplav.. where he is? how he is? and she asks disappointed, he didn't come with you? your beloved Viplav is currently living with the widows at the Ashram..and he'll be staying there for a while.. I will bring him back! but think about why our Viplav went to stay in the Ashram in the first place? some body insulted one of those widows before everyone in the market place! humiliated her badly! and to repair that mistake our child Viplav is staying in that Ashram! and what's more is that I know full well who that person is! you will be shocked to learn that our Viplav is involved in the work of eradicating insects from the Ashram! now if you ask me this house too needs his services! Because there a big beetle in this house that is causing me a lot of trouble! that insect these days is under the impression that it's full of wisdom! and therefore is making all the decisions itself! The insect thinks I am stupid! No! we have to finish off that pest!! Otherwise in future that insect will cause us much trouble.. should we do such a thing or not ?he refers to Kanak. Then he moves and stands beside Kanak and orders, go make me some almond halwa..and then in a raised voice he says ,Sushma ji you get the almond dish and bring it to our room and I am positive that horrible insect will not bother us anymore and he leaves the room in a mood.. without a doubt for me and I daresay many others too, will feel pleased that dadi gets the respect and honour she is due by Dashrant.. but if you look at the logic behind this scene.. dadi is given attention because kanak is given the exclusion treatment by Dashrant. due her conduct unbecoming with Dhani.. Kanak is compared to an unwanted beetle that needs to be exterminated as they are of no value within the house and are quashed due to the sting they contain.. dashrants words though sting Kanak left right and centre. Courtesy of tripurai's whipping up Dashrant.. looks like Kanak is already a dead beetle rolled on is back ,it's armour dented.. struggling to live..
The pied piper leads on! and arrives in the foyer of the hotel .As required he stops at the reception desk announces his name ,while the receptionist seated behind his monitor looks at Viplav than the white brigade behind him.. with interest he gawps at the young widows and Viplav imposes himself before the widows and the man behind the desk.. smiles and then warns. him my name is Viplav tripaththi Dashrant tripathi's grandson.. look at these girls like you'd look at your mum and sister.. otherwise I'll get your hotel sealed and you'll be sitting outside swatting flies! The frightened man gives Viplav the keys which he snatches out of his hand and leads his brigade to their family room.. goes in first and loves it .. and then follow Rajlaxmi and Rachna but they stop at the threshold and he teases what are you waiting for , cracking the coconut ceremony? come on in! gingerly they follow in looking at the huge family room with massive king size beds to accommodate them all,, Raj laxmi is so excited she stands on the couch and jumps on it with excitement and he said ,look at her behaving like a monkey..soon they all settle and Viplav stands over them and asks ,if it was to their satisfaction? he is sensitive enough to recognize their habit.Which is to stay together. that is the lifestyle these widows are used to.. but he still offers them a choice of another room.. they confirm they are satisfied by the room .. so that they are comfortable he switches on the ac for them .. then goes towards the door where Dhani still stands outside it.. he props himself against the door folds his arms and turns to her , bundle of complaints.. why so quiet?and she looks away from him.. and he prattles on you must be thinking it's not easy to beat Viplav, in fact it's impossible! Here we were trying to turn him out of the Ashram..and he's taken all of us out with him! so how 's that? and Dhani turns to face him and sneers at him, can you think about anything else except winning or losing? and he looks straight into her eyes but she turns her face away but he continues to stare at her profile with great interest.. then says pensively , shall I tell you something.. it's the truth..it's straight from my heart.. when you give me angry looks.. you look like a she devil! and he pulls an evil face and she turns to face him as he continues.. it seems very soon horns will pop out of your head! and fangs will slide down out of your mouth! with dirty long nails and you'll go around frightening everybody! Dhani gives him a sulky look and then hisses.. how can you talk such endless rubbish? and he gives her a smug smile it's due to the company I keep! and she orders him , now go from here , and he retorts where can I go? I am staying right here with everybody else!..and she turns to face him ready to pounce at him and he chuckles, no was just kidding ! I'll be staying in a separate room.. besides I'd rather not stay here, I go mad with the snide remarks that come out of you! now get some rest! there are no bedbugs or cockroach or lizard.. or Viplav! to bite you! and with a sore face he moves past her and leaves..and she watches his back .. her face miffed..
Come dine with me.. all the widows are now settled in the master bedroom. Dulari as usual the worrier.. stresses over what people are likely to say when they find out that Viplav is living with the widows at their Ashram ? She feels it's not an issue for him as he dashrant's grandson ,but it's dhani's reputation she is worried about.. thankfully, Inderani calms her down and reminds her, that this site belongs to the mandir hence it is pure and safe . Rajlaxmi as usual wants to enjoy the night out to the fullest and she announces she is hungry but indirani tells them categorically no one is going to ask him to get food! pretend we're all fasting! A knock at the door brings Viplav into their room and he asks them that the reception in the foyer said you people asked for the food menu? They all look confused and Viplav sounds relieved.. brilliant! as I've come to get you! now we're all going out to eat! Rajlaxmi and Rachna are excited , while the others came out with some lame excuses dulari says, I am not hungry, besides I am used to not eating.. and Indirani adds, I am fasting today and Sita maa says ,and I am very tired and am ready to go to bed.. Viplav puts on a disappointed look and says it's odd that none of you are hungry have you locked your stomachs ? Dhani says to him ,look if you're hungry you go and eat, none of us are hungry..he puts on a starved face .. says feebly , fine.. but I am starving.. haven't eaten since morning.. my guts are twisting and my tummy hurts badly! buts it's ok if you won't eat ,then I 'll starve today as well.. they say one can't get to sleep on an empty belly.. if you'll lose sleep than I too will stay awake with you all! and Dhani fed up of his acting leaves the room in a tizzy! But Inderani says, you go ahead and eat..we are really not hungry, and Dulari too echos indirani's message.. and viplav says very sadly.. I know maa ji that you won't come out for my sake because you all have taken an oath that we've done what this boy has asked us to do .. come here.. from now on we won't do anything more he asks us to do..I am right aren't I ? fine I'll stay hungry too and Inderani looks very guilty and she nods to everyone and says .. ok we'll all go and he spins his head with big smug grin as they all agree to eat.. Dulari worries about Dhani and he says ,don't you worry I'll bring her with me.. an excellent scene where Viplav uses both his words and body language to motivate the shy widows into sharing a meal with him in the hotel's restaurant .. he approaches the idea very carefully so as not to swamp the usually withdrawn widows in anyway.. he is also aware of their self respect and sense of integrity that they seem wary of perhaps buying food beyond their financial reach. Smartly he approaches the subject of food and puts his own hunger in the limelight, rather than belittling their usual way of life..on the way he acts ,and puts on where needed till they all don't give in eventually.. it's called bending their elbow..
Dhani sits in the foyer on a settee in a sulk, Viplav comes and sits by Dhani .. sides his head and says, I eve convinced every one for a meal! but what's the use ,as you won't agree to it and they won't come either and you'll sit here annoyed, and I'll sit here trying to make up with you, and in the meanwhile they'll all be sitting and starving, but then that's what you want don't you? and she sneers, I'd go rather than listen to your rubbish I don't know how people can tolerate you? she gets up and says in a strop, let's go then!nd he says I know you can never ignore what I ask you to do.. I am so sweet that's why ever one tolerates me with great fondness ! and she looks down , do you know what you're sitting on?and he replies on a sofa what else? and he notices he was sitting on part of her sari and he looks down at it and goes ookkkohhh..i never knew , sorry.. had I known.. I wouldn't have got up! and he gives her an impish grin.. she storms off and he growls at her back!
The widows arrive at the restaurant.. as they come in one cheap man looks at the younger widows and remarks so many moons at once! he says something vile and Viplav goes over to his table and tells him off and stuffs a spoon of rice in his mouth and orders him to eat! and the widows all sit at the table and begin their meal.. Viplav explains to them this is pure vegetarian restaurant.. Sita maa says, she has no teeth and asks for kichdi and Dulari asks for boiled rice dal and yoghurt.. Viplav tells the waiter if you want a tip then bring what the ladies have ordered.. from the head of the table where he sits, Viplav enjoys watching them eat happily . Dhani ate too and lovingly he watched as she had a grain of rice stuck under her lower lip and he called her princess royal.. and then pointed to his lower lip to indicate she has food on her mouth.. eat properly he tells her off like her daddy! Indarani notices that he just sat and feasted his eyes on his happy eaters guests.. she asks , are you not going to eat? and he replies he is going to.. and like [ Dutta...] Viplav has one spoon full of rice only and then asks to be excused.. in his absence, finger bowls of luke warm water with a slice lemon arrives at their table and each is given one.. each speculates what the bowl and its contents are meant for ,Dhani reckons it's.. for good digestion of the meal and they all bring their individual bowl to their lips ready to drink ..but Viplav arrives in the nick of time and explains it's not for drinking! but for getting their fingers to wash off grease and spices.. Viplav leaves to attend a phone call .. and the manager presents the bill to Inderani ... Hamlet53 30.9.15
I loved the episode, both Viplav and Dhani shelling across the borders was intermittent.. when will there be a permanent cease fire???..
where is suvarna??? miss her..
Precap: the widows return to a revamped Ashram! Dhani screams at him why do you keep doingus favours? What do you want from us? and I suppose you willask for money for this as well!
