The Heart that Found Me - Shaurya Rajveer Preeta FS
Part 62
It was the day. The day he would be her and she would be his. Strangely he couldn't help remembering Amy a little. Things would be different if Amy was here today. Before he could get lost Daadima came into room. Daadima had always been the pillar of support for him. He hugged her fondly as Daadima started talking.
Daadima:" I am so happy for you today Maan."
Maan:" I am happy Daadima. You know, I still can't believe that finally Geet and I are getting married today."
Daadima:" You both love each other. If love is strong enough even the universe bends its rules."
Maan smiled. Dev and Annie had been watching the exchange from doorway. They both were glad their elder brother had finally let the guilt go. Dev came inside and sad in a loud voice.
Dev:" See Annie, could you imagine Maan bro blushing??"
Annie:" Oye hoye Bhai, you look cute."
Maan:" Don't call me cute...ewww"
Annie was about to retort but Daadima cut her by saying," Maan beta, come down. Haldi ceremony is about to begin."
Maan smiled remembering how Geet had texted him last night," Maan today is the last time we are chatting as girlfriend and boyfriend. Tomorrow you will meet your bride at the mandap."
Maan:" Mishty, I miss you! I will be there to meet you before haldi."
Geet:" No Maan!"
Maan:" Don't you want to meet me?"
Geet:" I do. But I want to adher to the traditions this once. I want to have this one day separation. It will enhance our yearning and when we finally meet. I want to enjoy each step of this journey to be yours."
Maan:" And you don't want us to sneak around?"
Geet:" No. Just know that this...this following rituals is important for me. I can't explain but I think this is the right thing to do."
Maan:" If it is that important to you mishty I would not sneak a peek. But you have to promise me something in return."
Geet:" Once a businessman always a businessman!!"
Maan:" I love you mishty! I would do this for you. But in turn you have to promise something."
Geet:" Anything!"
Maan:" Agreeing without knowing the price can incur loss Miss Song."
Geet:" I will take my chances Mr. Stranger."
Maan:" I will ask it from you someday and you can give me the return gift."
Geet:"Sure! Love you Maan."
Maan:" I love you too Mishty."
A loud cracking noise of Laughter brought Maan back from his dreamland.
Annie:" Bhai, we know you are with your mishty in your lala land but please come. We need to get you to the haldi function."
Others were too busy cracking up to pipe in. Maan was thorougly embarrassed and walked ahead with blushing cheek. Daadi couldn't thank enough. Finally her Maan was getting the happiness he had always deserved. Maan's haldi turned out to be a full fledged holi with everybody smearing Maan with the turmeric paste. Maan was busy glaring but his glares seem to have lost its effect as far as his cousins and other realtives were concerned.
Geet had been waiting for this day for a long time. She had grown up reading fairytales and like any other had wanted to believe in happily ever afters. Though her parents divorce had created a dent on that still a part of her had always believed in having her own happily ever after. Armaan had been the ray of hope bringing out all the buried dreams within her. She had dreamt numerous times of marrying Armaan. Even today when she was totally Maan's heart and soul a part of her which was still Armaan's wished things had been different. But then if she had loved Armaan with fierce tenderness she loved Maan with equal if not more ferocity.
Meera had come to call Geet for her Haldi function. Watching Geet lost she couldn't help but ask,
Meer:" Missing Armaan?"
Geet:" Am I that obvious?"
Meer:" No Geet. I am not your best friend for nothing. So tell me what you are thinking?"
Geet:" I am happy Meer. I am getting married. I finally would get a home I belong to with people who truly love me and accept me. But as much as I love Maan and getting married to him I miss Armaan and can't help think what would have changed had he been alive."
Meer:" Geetu what if' won't help you. It will just spoil your day. What would have happened had Armaan been alive is a question we will never know the answer of. I know you love Maan. So enjoy the day, all the rituals. Don't let yesterdays pain stop you from enjoying todays happiness."
Geet smiled. Meera was right. And the thought of being Maan's wife left her giddy. His shameless and passionate promises were always leaving her high and dry. Her blushing cheeks made Meera chuckle as she said sweetly," Now here's the perfect bride I am supposed to get for the haldi ceremony. Come on hurry up!"
Geet enjoyed her haldi ceremony. She loved how her friends would tease her with Maan's name. Every time someone speaks his name she would blush badly earning chuckles and more teasing.
Geet soon washed up and mentally prepared herself for the hours of torture session to prepare her as the bride to the most eligible bachelor of India. But she bore it with patience just imagining the heated look Maan would give her. She was both glad and frustrated that Maan kept his promise of not meeting her before marriage. She was glad he gave her wish the respect but was missing him terribly. When had Maan occupied so much of her that even a day of separation is killing her?
Maan got ready to reach the venue. It was decided that the marriage ceremony would take place at a wedding hall opposite to the marine drive overlooking the vast sea. It had been decorated splendidly keeping in mind both Maan and Geet's choice. It was a beautiful amalgam of class and liveliness.
Of course at the entrance Meera, pari and others demanded ransoms for letting the groom enter. It was fun negotiating with them even when Maan was eager to enter to finally meet his mishty. He paid heavy amounts to appease them and was soon taken to mandap as it was time.
Maan couldn't wait for Geet to arrive. Soon he looked up to watch Meera and Pari bring Geet down. She was a beauty to behold. Maan had always known Geet was beautiful but tonight it seemed as if she had descended staright from heaven. For Maan nothing existed save he and Geet. Their eyes met and both were mesmerized lost in each other. Anybody watching them could just see pure love shining thorugh their features.
It had been Geet's decision that Tej would do her kanyadan. According to her if anybody had deserved to be call her guardian then it had always been Tej. Though both her biological parents were present for the ceremony still Tej was the one to give away Geet. The look of absolute worship in Maan's eyes for Geet made everyone sure of how right this marriage is for them.
Finally it was time for the pheras. Both of them stood up and clasped each other's hand promising silently to be there for each other always. They took each step and uttered each mantra seriously as if the vows got imprinted into their very soul. Soon Maan took a pinch of sindoor filling Geet's forehead with the red color adding to her beauty and tied her mangalsutra claiming in front of the world that Geet was finally Mrs. Geet Maan Singh Khurana.
Maaneet seeked the blessings of the elders who were only too eager to bless the couple. The girls had managed to steal Maan's shoes and again Maan had to pay a heavy amount for it.
Geet laughed at the predicament and Maan mock glared at her and said," What Mrs khurana? Laughing at your husband's plight?"
Geet:" Well I can't help it Mr. Khurana! You are too adorable for your own good."
Maan tried glaring but he was too happy to manage his glare. It was emotional once the bidai ceremony started. Even if Geet never really had a home in a very long long time but the fact still stands that she is no longer Geet handa. She cried hugging her mother and brother. Even if her relationship with her father is better still it will never be back to normal. Yet when Mohinder hugged her and asked Maan to take care of her it was all Geet could do to not cry again.
Maan held Geet tighter as they sat in his car. Kissing her forehead he said sweetly," I promise mishty, you will be happy and never ever will you shed another tear of pain."
The promise spread warmth inside her. She is finally home. Home is not a building or just a place to stay. Home is this incredible man who had accepted her as she is and loves her with such intensity.
The grihapravesh rituals were done quickly knowing both Maan and Geet were tired. Annie and Naina played some games of finding the rings and taking boite of the apple hanging. Maan didn't even bother searching the ring but he teased Geet by holding her hands. All Maan wanted was to be alone with his bride as soon as possible but his cousins and friends would have none of it.
Finally Daadima took pity on her eldest grandson and asked Naina and Annie to escort Geet inside the room. Geet entered Maan's room first time. It was elegant just like the rest of the house. The room was divided into two sections with glass partition. One was the bedroom consisting of the King size bed and a walk in closet. Annie said that the door lead to the washroom and Geet should use it to freshen up a bit. On the other side of the partition was Maan's study consisiting of a small office Maan operates from in case need arises. The bed was decorated tastefully with red rose petals and the room was given a romantic touch as numerous scented candles were lit around.
Oncce Geet was done in the washroom Naina and Annie helped her settle down on the bed. Both the girls left her after teasing her about the impending suhag raat. The thought gave her jitters and a nervous twist formed inside her stomach. She had a very less idea about what to expect on this night. What if she is not what Maan expects her to be?
Soon she could hear Maan's almost frustrated voice outside the door arguing over the door tax to his own room. No, it is their room now. Finally Maan entered and locked the room. For Geet it seemed as if the room had heated up suddenly. She bent her head down and rested on her knees. Her toes curled at the thought of being alone in room with Maan.
Maan watched Geet intently. He could tell that she was nervous. Well, he would just have to help her loosen up a bit.
Taking deep breathe he sat beside her on the bed and snorted. Geet was curious about his reaction and peaked from under her veil a bit.
Maan:" Can you believe those hooligans? They are robbing me at every chance they get."
Geet chuckled. A sudden image popped up in her mind of harassed Maan begging mercy from Meer, Pari, Naina and Annie. The image was so funny she couldn't help but laugh out loud. Her musical laughter was infectious and Maan chuckled as well.
Maan:" Laughing at your husbands plight are we, Mrs. Khurana?"
Geet:" Is that a crime Mr. Khurana?"
Maan:" You might have to pay some price for that."
Geet:" Is the price negotiable?"
Her almost rough voice was the indication of her desire and the atmosphere and the sweet scent of the candle were adding to the emotion.
Maan held her face softly and smiled as he replied," Depends on what you are willing to offer Mrs. Khurana."
He swiftly removed Geet's veil and had the first unobstructed view of her face. She was so precious that he felt fiercely protective to her, even from himself.
Cupping her face and using the last bits of control Maan whispered urgently," Mishty...if you are not ready for this stop me right at this moment because I don't think I can stop later."
"You just talk too much Khurana..."
Geet's husky voice replied as she closed the distance between their lips. Only a second of delay and they were both passionately kissing each other. It was the beginning of their journey as Mr. and Mrs. Khurana.
