Actor-director Prabhu Deva's inimitable dance style took the industry by storm in the 90's and is still strongly etched in the audience's minds. His effortless moves and comic timing have been a source of inspiration for several actors who've emulated him over the years. One such actor is Ravi Dubey whose long-standing dream got fulfilled when the dancing sensation visited the sets of Zee TV's widely followed primetime drama Jamai Raja to promote his upcoming movie. Ravi who idolizes Prabhu Deva was a bundle of nerves on the day of the shoot as his long cherished dream of meeting his screen idol in person finally turned into reality!
Ravi shares his excitement "He is one of the most proficient dancers, and an inspiration to many in our country. Being a huge fan, I owe most of what I know of dance to him as I've learnt so much just by following his dance moves. When I was a kid, the only exposure to real dancing were VHS tapes of Muquabla and Urvasi Urvasi...he has been a mentor of sorts and I'd never imagined that a day would come when I would share screen space with him! I vividly remember that I used to lock myself in the room and rehearse his dance steps till I got them right. I won't ever forget this day... It was quite unnerving to match steps with him as I was excited and nervous at the same time. It was an experience of a lifetime for me to dance with my idol."
He adds with a smile, "I was so overwhelmed to meet him that the first thing I did was touch his feet. What makes him an endearing person is his humble approach towards everyone. He is a perfectionist and that reflects in his art."
Keep watching Jamai Raja from Monday-Friday at 8:30pm only on Zee TV.
