As we celebrate Gandhi Jayanti today, I am not very sure if Bapu would have been too pleased with the term "Gandhigiri". But then, though a bit debatable, Munnabhai did manage to revive Bapu's thoughts using Gandhigiri to counter modern-day Dadagiri.
Munnabhai Dutt is rumoured to be on Saregamapa later this week, and don't be surprised if one encounters one more round of Dadagiri by Himesh on the episode.
And as always, it will be Raja Hasan's Gandhigiri that will steal all the praise.
Himesh Reshammiya has gone on an all-out attack against Raja in the past. First he screamed at him. He realised it wasn't working. He then went on an exaggerated praising spree. It still didn't work. And finally he decided to mock Raja's modest attitude. All the while, Raja smiled back and did not get drawn into a discussion. Bapu would have been proud of our Raja.
Himesh is now in a Catch-22 situation and suddenly seems lost. If he attacks Raja, Raja still smiles back and gets more votes. If he praises Raja - ditto. So what does Himmy baby do? The problem, which Himesh simply doesn't realise is that his credibility had been reduced to zero today. People think of him as someone who has escaped from a sanatorium. And many viewers simply press the mute button, when Himesh picks up the mike.
But coming back to Raja, the maturity he has dealt with Himesh is something that should be applauded.
Never for a moment has he tried to counter Himesh's views. And that is what infuriates Himesh further. It would be interesting to see how long he can continue his dadagiri tirade.
But then, we all know the end result - Gandhigiri always wins. Good things happen to good people.
Sad, Himesh, even though you and Bapu, both come from Gujarat - you would never understand how battles are won.
