After today's episode I definiely feel Ravan is a villan. There is no good justification of the acts he had done.

Yes, your suggestion is valid.........

But, I think he's just a prey of fate.........

Cuz as a form of Jay.....or Vijay........I dunno.........he had to become bad enough so that god would meet him as an enemy.....

So.......he was just the wrong type of person in the wrong type of situation.........

He was better than all of his other forms though.....

Like Hiranyaksh, Hiranyakaushap, Sishupal.....and them........they were bad from birth.......

Ravan came out good........but he had to turn bad at some point.........because Vishnu promised Jay and Vijay that he would free them from the Earth in every birth.........however in the form of an enemy.......

So, yes, Ravan's actions are villain-like....however.....it isn't really his fault....he was put into all the wrong situations.......from his demoness mother, to his uncles..........his wife turned out good.......but her kundali turned out messed up...........

Well he was bad but his personality and his motives were true from the heart. The situation and the atmosphere made him evil. This show has totally changed my view of Ravan!!

This show has, for the most part, based itself on the legends of Ravan where he was basically a good person. He was good in his younger years but his maternal relatives had negative influence on him. They were more interested in their political motives and that is what they used and trained Ravan for. He had good intentions but they corrupted his views and in the end this lead to his doom. The way they taught him, he thought he was doing the right thing. 🤔

No matter how the environment is, walking in the path of righteousness is a challenge, no doubt, but is the only way. It is the rule then and now. In my opinion, there is no excuse for being a bad human being. Ravan is definitely a villan.

No one is creating excuses. Ravan is definitely becoming more and more of a villain now. What this show tried to do was to present an interpretation of the events that made him a villain. The path from his innocent childhood to Emperor Ravan. The factors that shaped his character, his mentality, his ideas. Obviously after he became an adult he was responsible for his decisions and there could be no excuses to cover his mistakes/atrocities. The show is trying to answer the question of why his thinking became so corrupt that he chose the wrong path even though his original intentions (when he was younger) were not so evil. Sumali and Malyavan played a major role in corrupting him as per this show. He had lots of potential but the negative factors around him shaped him in a way that he went down the wrong path and misused his potential. He chose the wrong path and he paid for it.

Note: The above is, of course, in the context of this serial ie the reasoning above is based solely on the events as portrayed in this show. 😊

How come he picked up so much bad things from Sumali & Malywan but didnt continue good things suggested by his father, mother, and brothers. I understand, After he become young his parents didnt live with him but what about his brothers & wife. Both Vibhisan and Kumb were good and always spoke the truth and so did Mandodari. So the point is no one is responsible for his did, he himself did whatever he wanted. Not Sumali nor Malyawan.

An adult is responsible for his actions unless he/she has mental problems. So of course Ravan was responsible for what he did after he grew up. No one is saying otherwise. The serial tried to explain WHY he became like that.

Sumali and Malyavan were always more interested in Dashanan. They trained him to be Ravan. His siblings were of secondary importance. Sumali sent Kaikesi to Vishravas to get one child. So the rest were bonus and he was only interested in the main product of the deal. 😆 They are only meant to carry out Ravan's orders. Ravan is the main deal, Sumali's main project.

Sumali and Malyavan had big roles in turning Dashanan towards evil. They were largely responsible for misguiding him. Of course once he had grown up and finished his education and all that, Ravan was responsible for whatever decisions he made but his maternal family remains guilty for corrupting him.

Note that Chandranakha happily carried out Ravan's orders against the Rishis.

BTW, in this version it was shown in one scene that Vibhishan's disagreement with Ravan was about the specific methods being used (violence) and not necessarily about the goals (establishing Rakshasa culture and rooting out the corruption of the rishis). Vibhishan was worried that he was being put in a 'dharam sankat' and - interestingly I must say - that the violent methods would only succeed in wiping out some individuals: it would not wipe out their way of thinking that had taken root among people. Perhaps he was more interested in using non-violent methods to achieve the SAME goals. 😉

Kumbhakarna has not really been shown much after the leap. Overall he has always been shown to be eagerly following Dashanan's orders without opposition.

Keep in mind that nearly every rishi Dashanan encountered as a child was shown to be corrupt. His father was shown too weak and unwilling to do anything about changing the corrupt ways. So I guess Ravan thinks all rishis are like that (corrupt).

Even Vishnu was shown in negative light. 🤔

Mandodari entered the picture much later. By that time Sumali's influence on Ravan was too great to do anything. Besides her kundali is also having effects on Ravan apparently coz he still has to capture the planets. 😊

One interesting thing is that, even though Ravan is attacking the rishis he is still very concerned about preserving the honour of the women. He specifically instructed his people about this. He also ordered them to trick the rishis into thinking that the women had been killed (by using fake blood): he doesn't actually intend to kill the women.

This Ravan is a very conflicted individual: a mix of the noble and evil versions. 🤔

The above is in context of this serial only. Do not attempt to analyze it with respect to any particular text/oral version. 😉
