Exclusive News Update on PRDP - The Music Album of Salman Khan's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will be launched before the trailer release of the film making it a very innovative promotional strategy for the film
Fox Star Studios and Rajshri have come up with a uniquie promotional strategy for Sooraj Barjaty's Magnum Opus which releases this Diwali. A Source close to Sooraj Barjatya and Salman states that
"Salman Bhai and Sooraj sir think that the music of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo needs some time to grow so they thought of releasing the music album of the film 10-15 days before the trailer release which is scheduled on 30th September. Salman and Sooraj are very confident about the Indian Melodies which are there in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Album hence they have decided to come up with this plan"
This might seem ground breaking strategy to most of the trade and industry because releasing the entire music album before trailer doesn't happen now a days. Recently, Singh Is Bling released one single before the trailer but here Prem Ratan Dhan Payo takes this strategy ten notches higher as they will be releasing the full album. In a way it is old school too when the music album used to be release much before (2-3 Months At Least) the release of the film so that they get their own sweet time to grow in the minds of listeners and become popular.
This is a risky proposition too in case the music doesn't work as then more pressure will come on the theatrical trailer to deliver the goods. But if it works, then it will give Rajshri the upper hand of releasing the song videos of the songs which are more popular. They have around 40 days windown between the trailer and release of the film so things will get much more easier if the songs become popular in advance.
The music/songs of Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Salman Khan's last blockbuster grew by leaps and bound post the release of the film as it was released hardly 20-25 days before the release. We think if you have a good album in your hands, then release it well (1.5 - 2 Months) in advance so that it gets it own time to get popular because popular music can do wonders at the box office.
