They may be studying in school and living a protected life, but small town girls in their teens are bagging lead roles on TV. With scripts focusing on younger women who can transition from a college-going-girl to eventually a bahu and then a mother or a saas in a conservative family setup, producers are insisting on picking fresher and younger faces from smaller towns. And parents of these girls are supportive too. When they see that their daughters are getting good TV show offers, they don't mind relocating. Lately, as many as five TV shows have youngsters in their teens playing lead mature roles, and incidentally they have all moved to Mumbai from smaller towns and are pursuing their studies too.
