Article:Jhalak male contestants are ugly

What was your reaction when you were offered Jhalak Dikhla Jaa? My best friend Kunal, my wife Ayesha and my dad told me "Broacha, don't do this. It's not funny.. it's stupid." But I'd just read a book about how to do things which you're not com- fortable about. So I took this up and now I feel quite stupid. How's it going so far? (Sighs) Amazingly, incredibly disgusting. My parents have asked me not to come home. I've got to find a place to stay. That bad? Yeah, I'm bored because no one talks much. They're very com- petitive and scared. Mika is okay but the others are edgy It's , . fun seeing them get tense. How are the performances? The girls are very good. But the boys are ugly and bad dancers. I bet the jury and the public will choose the girls, and drop all the boys. How would you rate yourself as a dancer? (Thinks hard) On a scale of 1 to 50, I'd say 3.. no, 2. The first round wasn't so bad but the sec- ond round is quite tough. By the way I've planned a holiday with , Ayesha in October. You're that sure of being voted out by then? Look, if I'm not out by October 20, I'm suing the channel. And I mean it! The MTV Lycra Awards are on October 25 and I have to be there. You're serious? Yes, I am. Mr (Sidharth) Basu, kind man that he is, has prom- ised to fix things. How's your chemistry with your choreographer Rozita? Very good. True, there's very lit- tle she can do with my limited talent. But she keeps licking my ears.. that really has to stop. I'm a married man! Jokes apart, she's a lovely girl. What else are you working on? I'll be acting in Kunal Vijaykar's directorial debut, Fruit and Nut, with Boman Irani. (Sadly) Then there's CNN IBN's The Week That Was, that nobody watches, MTV which nobody understands, and radio which nobody listens to. And now, this ugly dance show. Any other reality shows in the pipeline? Yes, I'll be a judge on one of them. Things should take shape by the end of the year.
