IKRS 1st September 2015 ep.20 My Take

The reverent spiritual flavour of faith runs through the episode.. faith as based on trust ,complete unshakeable belief in one's own personal or collective deity.. and for those who do not adhere to a faith. There lies a belief in basic human values of compassion , mercy and charity Since religion or faith combines a mass of people who follow a script that to them is inspired word of their personal deity.. People tend to accept with veneration, faith related religious observances. The celebrations are carried out with a gentle heart and humbled spirit.. In this episode , we see a collective faith which calls upon an accepted festival.. The episode appeals for it marks the auspicious occasion .. the birth of lord Krishna .. one of the most famous human forms of lord Vishnu .. the other human form being lord Rama.. lord Vishnu is one of three most important Hindu gods.. Vishnu is known as the Preserver .. a god of goodness and mercy.. Krishna thus is his human form!

Faith in an all encompassing deity.. apart from being based of trust.. comprises also of the element of divine fear, that exists between the god and the devotee..along side comes the third element of supplication.. where the devotee requests and appeal for petition to be granted..In the opening scene of the episode we see these three elements of worship.. trust ,fear and supplication being misused by Dashrant. He suffers from delusions of having high moral grounding and sound spirituality before his community. So filled he is with arrogance that he proclaims himself as a god who controls his community by manipulating their faith, fear and entreaties. He assures lalla to trust him.. that he has the power to set things right for him.. Dashrant boasts about himself.. unaware that his words of hypocritical religiosity are done so before a small way side mandir for travellers respite.. lalla warns Dashrant of an approaching storm, an impending doom! lalla is worried for his hide, his reputation.. the wrath of god for kicking widows out.. who were given the ashram by his father.. as a safe haven. He wants Dashrant to reconsider.. evicting the poor destitute widows.. but Dashrant plays upon lalla's trust..and assures him that for his trust in him.. Dashrant if he considers him god, will take on board all his miseries and replace them with prosperity and wealth! Dashrant plays upon people's weakness their devotions and leads them astray.. only to suit and feed his own needs..he pushes all of lallas pleas of ifs and buts.. aside

This episode is tumultuous.. like the birth of Krishna.. when the universe quivered with excitement as Devaki's eight dark blessed baby boy wriggled into the world! the heavens juddered wildly with drums! In the episode too the battle between good and evil is underway.. Dashrant has the papers.. Tripurari , his fathers acclaim and approval .. and lalla his blessings of being surrounded in wealth.. all this under the guise of faith..

Strange occurrences that lead to.. more..

However Dashrant assurance to lalla.. brings on the storm of eviction upon the victimised widows.. as 7 days lapses.. It is a dream but, a product of an overheated imagination! Dhani has a nightmare .. but one that acts as live.. on going connection with Viplav..

Viplav.. like Krishna is one who is the happy mirth maker! the joy giver to the down trodden and the destitute like Dhani and to his sister.. Shalini! he lifts her spirits shows her ticket .. tells her about first case he's fighting.. for the widows against eviction.. wants her to keep it to herself. As he wants to surprise every one. Kanak spots Tania 's legs on skype.. this is the funny side.. as it shows Viplav's brief interchange with Tania.. it's like the moments when lord Krishna jested and teased the milk maids! Harmless fun!

The fast forward of events..

Viplav wanted to surprise the family but instead Shalini.. blurts, about the hush hush! before the family.. tells Viplav will fight widows case.. father supports his sons career launch.. fighting for widows.. Shalini does so, all in the name of culinary delights again!! This family needs any excuse to indulge.. especially Dashrant! he needs to fill his insatiable appetite for everything to do with his body !.. pity he stands for striving for spiritual food.. what a double dealer!

Lall confirms the news..Dashrant is evicting them and Viplav is settling them back in!

Battle has begun!

Human shield.. that breaks down the lines of communications of the strategic centre! Wireless.. break down!

Dhani.. wakes Viplav from slumber to remind him of the time of attack. and becomes a wall between Dashrant and Viplav..Dashrant on the defensive front now.. wants to stop Viplav's offensive supply line to the widows..hold action! Possibly abandon .. further advancement! But the wall of communication comes as constantly engaged..

beep beep! beep beep! Evil goes through the torture of waiting.. to establish contact!

Dhani presses upon Viplav her protector.. apologizes and wants an reassurance from him.. he wants to sleep but Dhani rings again.. wants to know what time will he come??he says I know my job.. and my commitment ! now let me sleep thank you and goodnite.. and he switches the phone to silent.. as this girl is very likely to murder the rest of his nocturnal hours with her badgering enthusiasm.. and her sorry to disturb you's!!! This meant Dashrant desperate to get to Viplav, cannot... looks like our Dhani has once again been helped by bhole Nath himself.. the damru sounds..as the tandev continues..

Episode ends with the celebratory Janmashtami puja.. at the widows shelter.. celebrating the birth of Krishna..

Dhani rocks the cradle which holds the idol of baby Krishna. in worship she begs Krishna for Vrindavan.. their shelter .he is their only hope ..Viplav turns his side in his bed in Delhi..

At Viplav's household.. Dashrant even on this occasion before the Janmasthami puja.. gives snide remarks to his wife neither you qualify to be in the image of Yashoda.. Krishna's foster mother nor Devaki his biological mother .. as he Dashrant labels her an inauspicious woman , who has has given birth to a maimed son like Shambu...so he deems her a spiritual misfit in the ceremony of lord Krishna's birth.. if only he knew that shambu is responsible for Viplav's being! Shambu the maimed son!father of Viplav!

Dashrant rocks the cradle.. looks at quizzically.. Dhani sings.. Krishna 's works and will are hard to understand.. but destroyed are those who displease him .. may your devotees be filled with your divine strength.Dashrant prays.. lord Krishna by some miracle keep Viplav away from the widows shelter..

Viplav sleeps.. as Dhani completes her prayer before lord Krishna.. ooh lord make your presence known in the semblance of that lawyer.. help us poor widows lord... merciful ,lord and protector!

Precap Dhani on her knees begs to be allowed to stay.. a while.. our lawyer is on his way..

Dashrant..warns Viplav not to travel or step out of the house at any cost.. I am getting negative vibes. About you.. so again the forces of evil .. stop Krishna .. from being the protector..

Is Viplav going to use video conferencing.. to fight the case tomorrow..? as his dada ji has told him to stay indoors..?

Overall a moving episode.. as one sees a testing of faiths.. well done colours for including key religious festivals in the tracks.. previous show LTL too boasted of this strength of colours.. inclusion of festivals in the story line..

Very detailed and touching take, Hammie. Thank you for taking the time to write.

The focus on faith is very apt for today' episode. The grace of Lord Krishna, the protector, was invoked by both Duryodhana and Arjuna before the Kurukshetra war. Duryodhana wished to have Lord Krishna's invincible army, while Arjuna simply wanted the Lord to be with him. Lord Krishna warned Arjuna that he would not fight on his behalf, he would just be with him. He told Arjuna to choose carefully between a non-fighting Krishna and a fighting army. Arjuna chose Krishna to be with him, and Duryodhana took Lord Krishna's army. Arjuna won the Mahabharata war, because he had the Lord with him. In today's episode, Krishna, and faith in Lord Krishna represents the wild card, the hidden variables that make the difference between victory and defeat.

On the one hand we have the modern day Duryodhana, the fraudman-godman, so nicely characterized by you in your take, and on the other hand, we have Dhani, the contemporary Arjuna deeply confused and disturbed, and has nothing but her faith to offer. Duryodhana, I mean Dasharath Tripathi, terrorizes the entire town with his threats and his assurances. Interestingly his assurances also sound like threats, laced as they are with conditional overtones of the narcissistic need for power and control --a hunger for power that feeds off the faith of the gullible masses. Dasharath has on his side all that is predictable. He has money, power, ability to threaten people, and he has Tripurari, who represents the modern Karna, the dethroned prince, unaccepted by the royal family and raised as a commoner. Tripurari, like Karna, has sold his morals in exchange for a sense of belonging will do anything for a scrap of validation and acceptance by the patriarch.

Dasharath can buy information, command his army of followers blinded by a dysfunctional concept of faith that he feeds them, he can steal the evidence. In other words, he can command all the known variables. However, as they say," there is many a slip between Dasharath and Trip." Dasharath cannot command the hidden variables in the form of his own karma, his own nemesis. True, he absent-mindedly prays that things go in his favor, while swinging baby Krishna's cradle. Dasharath does not know how to pray; he is a power-hungry predator who only knows how to prey upon people's emotions and vulnerabilities.

The hidden variable in the form of all that is correct, all that is unexpected, and all that is magical is with Dhani and the widows in the ashram. Dhani's faith in the Lord naturally extends to her faith in the ability of a lawyer whom she has never met, and a case being fought against an adversary that is both unknown and unexpected. Her goodness becomes her prayer, and her faith, her embellishment.

Let us await the miracles that Lord Krishna brings forth for the ashram, and let us enjoy Dasharath's debacle.

Thanks for explaining about Krishna's birth. I didn't understand that part. And I know now why was those scenes in the end of the episode important.
Well . I didn't like yesterday's episode. I am sorry to say this, but too much of Dashrath, less of Viplav. That labtop scene was ok. But I wanted my dose of ViDha's phone call. Sadly Viplav was sleepy. Also I felt disappointed that they didn't talk about the massenger who took the documents.

The only saving grase in the episode was precap. It was engaging. Can't wait for today's episode, although I feel that we won't see Viplav in Benaras today.
