| Mera surroor itne duur? Himesh Reshammiya | His Himeshness is going places, literally! On December 1, Reshammiya will perform at the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam, a place that has so far only seen Western rock stars performing in pomp.
Says a source close to Himesh, "After performing to a packed house at Wembley Stadium in London, Himesh will now be the first Indian to perform at the Heineken Music Hall."
In elite company
Some Western stars who have performed there in the past include Beyonc Knowles, Kanye West, Lauren Hill, Snoop Dogg, P Diddy, Sean Paul, Norah Jones, Akon, 50 Cent, Nelly Furtado, James Blunt, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Rihanna and DJ Tiesto.
Adds the source, "Himesh is very excited about performing there. It's a huge honour for him. He's performing solo there, with only Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 contestant Vineet joining him for one act. His sister Rupa will design Himesh's costumes. He will don his trademark leather jacket and cap because it is his first time in Amsterdam. His fans are really looking forward to the show."
Loss and gain
However, there are more reasons for Himesh to rejoice. According to his friend, Himesh has signed three films as actor-composer, besides Satish Kaushik's Karz. "The projects will be announced after October 11 (end of shraddh, a month of mourning according to the Hindu calendar). All these films will roll from January 2008 and Himesh will be sporting a different look in each film," says the friend.
He adds, "Currently, Himesh is on a weight-loss spree. He has already lost four kilos and will be losing another seven in the next two months. He has composed 100 more songs in addition to the 500 songs he has in his music bank, and will use some of them for his films."
